This is so nice, slightly reworked Puccini gems, the guy was a gifted genius, I’ve got all his operas and his church type music too, absolutely awesome, I struggle to find the words to convey how fantastic he is, I always tear up to One Fine Day and O Mio Babbino Caro, Giacomo was a nice looking chap too, see photo at 46:00, love his moustache and I thank him so much for his music, wonderful

Puccini is my favorite. My ultimate Puccini moments were seeing Franco Corelli in Fanciulla and Tosca with that "Vittoria" that went around the world. Fanciulla is so unique with all those different characters that in most operas are "cardboard." He saw the play "Girl of the Golden West" and it took him 5 years to get the rights to it. Funny that the only opera that's an American western was written by an Italian.

@@MehdiD.Ardebili Strauss! Even Strauss acknowledged he was a second-rate composer. I can see his attraction though: brash; explosive; fine use of horns; syrupy sweet melodies, i.e. kitsch. But in my book, these don't add up to great composition. I would say that Strauss's music was better suited for films. And I'd give him top grades for scoring an orchestra; one of the best.

Did not know that, but makes perfect sense: I think Wagner's influence on many composers was huge and probably did cut across cultural / geographic boundaries. I guess he was to the 19th century what Stravinsky was to the 20th. I recently read part of a paper on Wagner's influence on Puccini, if you are interested; I think it's this one: people.bu.edu/burtond/resources/Research/6f2.ReconditeChap1.pdf And yes, I agree, Puccini is the Man! His music conveys deep human emotions in an immediate manner.
