Thank you, Marion! I know some U.S.-born ethnic-Chinese Americans who also make this dish regularly at home in the U.S.. Apparently, it is a classic Cantonese dish that they feel very proud of.

Yes, Cantonese dish, Marion, u r absolutely right. My mum cooks this dish for the family since time immemorial. And now I cook tis for my own family. Such comfort food to eat alone w white rice makes dinner so fulfilling at end of day's work or school. But we don't sprinkle any sesame seeds at all still super fragrant all bcos of the Chinese lup cheong! Am 100% sure ur viewers who try tis dish will surely love it too like we have for generations in my Cantonese family ! Enjoy!😋😋😋

Thank you. My caregivers have been after me to find a recipe to use up all the Chinese sausage we have in the freezer and this is perfect (lots of chicken in the freezer too). So thanks again. Now I can get them off my back. Hallelujah!!!

Looks and sounds amazing , and very light and comforting. I just saw the sausage and got a sample at Costco, I will definitely go get it and attempt to make this. And can I say chicken with ginger…..a match made in heaven! Thank you as always, Marion 💕

Marian, this is the best recipe! It's a real favorite of mine. I call it "Slurpy Chicken" and I can't get enough of it. Thank you, so much! I admit I have not used the sausage yet and don't follow your recipe to the T every time, but close enough to be delicious and dangerous. This and baking a whole, spatchcocked chicken at a higher temp for a shorter time are my two favorite chicken recipes, thanks to you. 💕💕💕

Popping on your washing up gloves to remove dishes from a steaming pan will protect you from scalds. Also metal trivets can be bought for cheap online, keep one in your drawer and saves you wasting foil. Worth buying as you can steam tons of yummy stuff!

I grew up remembering one particular errand for my mom, instructing me to go to our local chinese bakery which also sells "chorizo Bilbao". That is the same sausage and i can relate now why it's called Bilbao and cantonese or originating from Macau, with the same Portuguese reference.

Instead of foil you can use a makeshift raft of lemongrass - not cheap, but flavors the food as the oils of the lemongrass steam up

@ashleyt53622 жыл бұрын
I’m sure you can but the question is how long do you cook it. I’d love an answer since I’m always using my IP.
@overseastom2 жыл бұрын
@@ashleyt5362 you can use your pressure cooker as just a steamer, as long as you don't seal it. Then the cooking time is the same as if you're using a wok steamer, like in the video - 12 minutes, I think she said? I wouldn't bother trying to actually pressure cook it, since it'd take a few minutes to get up to pressure, and if you used instant release foods are often drier than you want, as all their juices start to boil and vent out of the food once you do the release! Doing a slow release would therefore provide hardly any time saving, and you'll also probably turn your scallions to mush. For quick dishes, I wouldn't bother "applying pressure" to them, just steam it :)

You use Huadiao wine in the cooking but you said Shaoxing wine in the clip. Very confusing!
@overseastom2 жыл бұрын
According to Wikipedia, "Liaojiu (料酒) is a type of huangjiu used in cooking, an example of this being the liaojiu-type of Shaoxing rice wine." Maybe she's using a nicer wine than most of us can easily get at our local store (I know I've never found the blue bottled Pagoda brand one she used to use), but I don't think it's particularly confusing...
@peiling8262 жыл бұрын
@@overseastom the bottle label as Huadiao wine but she said shaoxing wine in the video. That is why I pointed this out. Huadiao is not the same as shaoxing win since people in Taiwan are using both wine in different cooking. The flavor is quite different to my opinion. I think she just miss spoken. No big deal.
