I don’t think any Fan of any other team in the league would choose JT Miller on their team over Draisatyl!! Regardless of the money! He’s head and shoulders above Miller as a player! Ones a star and the other is a Superstar! Draisatl is a playoff proven performer and worth every penny! I’m a Habs fan and would take him in a heartbeat for that price! There’s no comparison between the 2 players and he’d be the best player on the Canucks right now hands down!

I agree that Drai is better than miller. The problem is that he should be the best player on the team. Your team is just way too top heavy. Him at 8m was an amazing deal you had. at 14 is fair. but 97 is gonna ask for more. and you need other heavy hitters like bouchard and hyman in your roster to be cup contenders like recently. but if ya'll can get rid of Nurse, it will all be worth it. not sure how you'll do that tho

I still can't help but notice the OIlers are tying up nearly $30 million in cap space for just TWO players, however great they are. That leaves not much room for the other 22 guys they need to have to be a contender and not a presenter. having to play McDavid and Draisaitl for 25+ minutes every game in the playoffs due to lack of depth is likely what's cost the Oilers in the playoffs for the last 3-4 seasons running. Both are generational talents, no doubt about it, but how do you fill out a roster with the rest of the championship calibre players when there's no cap room left? The Canucks mainly lost in 7 due to lack of depth of their own thanks to lack of cap space from the remaining spectre of the disastrous Benning Contracts. Thankfully the Canucks are almost free and clear of those now, and I definitely won't compare Leon or Conner to anything close to Benning Contracts as individually they are good contracts for what you get, just both at once? Bit much on the cap hit.

As an Oilers fan, I think JT Miller's 8m contract is awesome for a ppg and 100 pt guy. Draisaitl signed an 8.5m contract 7 years ago, and he's exceeded expectations with two 50 goal and multiple 100 point seasons, setting playoff records and winning some hardware and I think this 14m extension is a fair market price to pay for Draisaitl. Both players have worked hard for their contracts, Miller has played really well hitting 100 pts after his new contract, and Draisaitl is finally getting paid what he deserves with his new extension. Theres really no point in comparing Millers current contract and Draisaitl's extension.

Dria's last contract was 8.5m for the last 8 years. Oilers have had nothing but value for what he was producing at...so the majority of the sane fans will accept this contract. Plus it's the market. 2 or 3 years from now his percentage of cap will shrink.

As a fan of neither team: Stupid debate to be having. Draisaitl has been a significantly better player than JT Miller in their respective careers to this point. Miller is NOT a better asset to have at this time. JT Miller is a great player, no question. But contract values don't increase linearly as the player's production increases. Like, if a 90 point player is worth $1 million more than an 80 point player, then a 100 point player will easily be able to get paid something like $1.5 - 2 million more than the 90 point player. The amount star players will get paid has been shown to accelerate higher than linearly as the cap increases. Sure, as fans we'd like to see our team not have to pay out like that and have more cap space to build a team that has better depth around our stars, but unfortunately that just isn't the direction that general managers and star players have gone. They've gone with the salary of stars rising faster as the cap permits than the salary of other players.

When the Oilers were without McDavid at the beginning of last season, the team was not as lethal with Draisatl alone versus the Canucks. Or else, the Oilers could be winning the division (with or without the coaching change), and the Canucks could be just fighting for a playoff spot. Luck could even out this season without Demko for a while.

Drai is better then Miller. As a Canucks fan I'm thrilled with how Miller plays, I think he's very underrated in the league, but let's be real here. The offensive production of Draisaitl is too much of a board tipper here. Draisaitl is definitely less effective without McDavid but he still reaches 100 points a season almost effortlessly.

Not sure what the controversy is about. Half of those very same fans wanted Miller out even less than two years ago. What has changed to make him popular. Even you Lego dumped on Miller. I have not once said a bad thing about Miller. Sure now people clamor for him. Last year there were articles on what you could get for him. In less than two years it goes from we want him gone to arguing who is better him or Leon. Leon is close to twenty pounds heavier a little faster and gets a bit more points but Miller is the better defender. Hits better. There is a gap.And Leon would be the best player they ever had. But Miller is no slouch. You are comparing him with the second best player in the league. Better than Hughes or MacKinnon? I will say this for Miller is he does not take games off. He plays that smash mouth game every game. Many can't consistently play like that. I hope these fans are for real. And I do get Miller is still under rated in the NHL.

Love reading these Oilers fans knocking JT Miller...JT is the type of guy that would make them eat their own words. Miller has way more character and I have more faith in him to bring home a Cup than Draisaitl. What kind of price tag would you put on a person who has the will to win?
