When the Vancouver Canucks decided to sign Jake DeBrusk, I was surprised at the reaction from Bruins fans. A large contingent were glad to see him leave. This raised many questions, so I did some research. In this video, I share three reasons why many Bruins fans HATED Jake DeBrusk.

Subscribed to your channel you deserve the 5,000 mark! I hate to say this about any team and any fanbase, but the most hotheaded, ill advised, and downright arrogant fans often are Bruins fans. As someone who actively follows NHL and college hockey in the big picture DeBrusk was treated horribly, unfairly, and heartlessly. He's found himself a much better happier place and the Bruins will miss him too late. I saw the Canucks outplay and actually be tougher than the Bruins last year. I have room for these two arch rivals in my love of the game, but a general message- treat the players with kindness or you are not a good fan.

I will be fair and point out he was injured for much of his regular season time in Vancouver, and after taking time out of the lineup to recover from that, he was lights out in the playoffs, one of our best forewords. I won't complain about the quality of play of Playoff Lindholm, of healthy Lindholm. and only a stupid fool would hold performance issues caused by an injury against a player, especially when they play to expectations like clockwork once the injury's healed. Where I will fault Lindholm is he seems to value money over everything, and he got less of it because he wouldn't take the Flames' deal a year ago. He may well miss out on an epic run over the next couple of seasons in Vancouver because he wanted a few hundred K extra dollars per season. Who knows if he'll get that in Boston or not. The team seems to have a weakness up the middle while Vancouver is super strength in that spot, with the likes of either Pettersson or Miller being merely a 2nd line centre here, where they'd both be first line shoe-ins nearly anywhere else. Maybe that's another thing with Liindholm, he's full of insecurities about being one of 3 top 2 centres and didn't think he'd be good enough to out perform the stars here, so had to go someplace easier up the middle. Only Elias can answer that, but one thing is fore sure, he wanted too much money for the season he had in 23-24, even with the monster playoffs that followed.

ive always wondered how players deal with dry spells mentally. Like you can see they are putting in the effort, working the coaches system, etc but the puck just wont go in and the opposing goalie just has the players number. At that point, what do you do? How does one convince the fans that he\she is trying their best and giving it their all but keeps coming up empty?
@Seriously_Unserious
@Seriously_Unserious 8 күн бұрын
I guess just keep putting in the effort, knowing that if you keep playing smart hockey, the pucks will eventually start going in again. Though I don't play sports, I have worked in sales and you can get dry spells just the same in sales. I had one dry spell where I went something close to 100 calls without any closes at one point, and this is Business to Business sales, and statistically I should have been getting a close every 25-30 calls max. I got one close, then another 50-100 calls of nothing. That was rough, but my manager was good at keeping my spirits up through all that snakebit period, and from one day to the next, I went from dialing 0 to 6 closes in a day, and several more for the rest of that week. That bounce back day, seemed like everyone I called was desperate for what I was offering. That's often what happens with a hockey player. Snake bit for game after game, even if they keep doing the right things, then one game, everything they touch ends up in the net one way or another, almost as if all that bad luck built up a law of averages that bad luck would be balanced out by good luck. In my case, a lot of my struggles stemmed from the fact nobody was answering their phones for a while, so I was stuck leaving voicemails for 99% of my calls, which is unusual. The salesman's version of snakebit. Not much you can do when you don't get to talk to the person to address their questions. Likewise, not much you can do if a puck hits a leg and bounces into the corner rather then into the net, or a goalie robs you when you do get a clean chance. Just keep putting it on goal and trust that your skill will eventually prevail sooner or later.

Sometimes a player can have a rough year and some fans will just never forgive a guy, no matter what he does after that bad run. Canucks fans were starting to run into that with Brock Boesser. I never stopped loving the guy, even though he was going through some rough times on a struggling team, but saw areas of his game improving even through his other struggles. Then he popped off with 40 and that proved enough to silence his critics. Nothing like leading the team in goals to shut the sourpusses and boo-birds up!

Debrusk is soft in after play scrums. He's the last player to start shoving and is even at times caught without a man when we need all players to hold down someone. Yeah it will be interesting given that you guys got our Zadarov & Lindholm ( Granted they were rentals ) and we got Debrusk -- Who ends up being great contracts... You know I think it will come down to coaching. I think Lindholm will be exactly what he is worth, Z will have to vibe with the coaching, and either will be a lazy player or a real great offensive goon. Debrusk; If he is a creative player, then he will suffer here. If he likes direction and dependable lineups, then he will flourish.

I think part of why DeBrusk was disliked by many in Boston was started partially out of his control. In 2015 the Bruins had 3 consecutive first round picks in a stacked draft, DeBrusk was the second of the three picks and frankly the only one who amounted to much. The picks immediately after those three picks: Mathew Barzel, Kyle Connor and Thomas Chabot. This isn't Jake's fault by any means, but he is the visual representation of that missed opportunity. Think Olli Juolevi going immediately before Tkachuk and Keller, now imagine 3 picks and still missing out on those players. Either way, good luck DeBrusk. Hope your new home loves you better than your last.

Dude, Petty was playing with Lafferty and 1 goal in 61 games Mikheyev, AND hurt, what the HELL was he supposed to do? Pass the puck to Mikhev and then teleport over there and play Mikheyev's position for him on top of playing his own? By the time he finally got a winger in the form of Hoglander earning a promotion to the 2nd line, he was already in that stretch with his knee injury. This year, at least he'll have some options for legit top 6 wingers on his line. I think it was a miracle he was even able to get the 34 goals and 55 assists he got with a dude who couldn't even manage more then 1 goal in 61 games WITH a 55 assist guy centring him! And a guy coming off a 100 point season. For the stritch when it was Mikheyev and Lafferty, Pettersson had NOBODY on his wings capable of scoring. He was basically having to try and Mario Lemieux it 1 on 3 every shift to get ANYTHING at all. Even Mario couldn't manage more then a few of those "what a move, what a goal" type plays in a season, and did need his line mates to help him out on most of his plays.

@LeonExile05
@LeonExile05 8 күн бұрын
@@christhornycroft3686 That’s the problem, there is not enough cap space to justify Pettersson’s contract as he doesn’t make his line mates that much better the same way Crosby or McDavid would. He needs to have line mates who are top notch to be at his best. At this point Hoglander and Sprong are about all he’s got and he seems to enjoy playing mostly with his friends. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes with Hoglander on the top line for now and DeBrusk with Pettersson. It does seem more balanced that way, but if DeBrusk isn’t delivering then I think switching him to the top line with Miller could be beneficial to his game. DeBrusk - Miller - Boeser Hoglander - Pettersson - Sprong Joshua - Blueger - Garland Heinen - Suter - Sherwood I do think we should trade Hoglander for a defensemen, though. As we have a lot of forward depth that can be called up when necessary already. Then just place Heinen with EP40 and Blais on that 4th line LW slot. It will be exciting to see how it goes regardless, I’m pumped for the season.

I don't know how he even got those assists once Mihkeyev started that slump! To get an assist, you have to have another guy get a goal, and 1 goal isn't gonna lead to 55 assists.
