@@mikehaley9130 and your point is ? You're just proving the OP's point by saying that these tattooists are so money hungry that they don't even have basic human compassion . @@mikehaley9130 yea and being a tattoo artist you are permanently needling something into someone's body and causing immense pain for some. It is the artist's job and responsibility to manage the pain response and mental state of their clients. It's bs to think the person literally getting paid to hurt you isn't supposed to care for you whilst they do so.

@@CedarMountainsnow depending on the artist's techniques they absolutely could have been injuring her. it looked to me like a couple of them were pushing way too deep. when your job involves making a permanent change to someones body, if the individual you're tattooing is in immense pain, it is your responsibility as an artist to reassure and help them, and listen to feedback. that is how trust is built. seeing the way these artists performed, i doubt most people would trust them at all.

I think it's part because everyone has their own story (if you're accustomed to pain for some reason or if you've learned to hide it) and their own body (and so everyone have different skin and nerve) and that why we have different pain tolerance. We never are in other people body. And even your own body can react different in similar place (my last one is a symetric centered one in my back and my pain on the left of my back was different than the one on the right)

while in reality, he knows exactly 1 kind of hardship. certainly an impressive one, but one you wanted to experience usually. unless you get drafted and are forced to experience something you didn't want to experience or you're literally forced to fight off invaders at your national border. apart from that and in this day and age, almost everyone who joins the army wants to join the army. and a good percentage of these people want to experience war. i could easily have seen myself being excited by the thought of going down that route as a young man if I was an american. so, in my book, you're only doing what you want to do. and I don't see how I should respect you more for that than anyone else who does what he or she wants to do. same goes for fire- and policemen. and especially doctors, since they usually haven't only been genetically blessed but also monetarily and in the way the were allowed to grow up. that said, how about handling some real suffering. colon cancer and a stoma for the rest of one's life. chronic neurological pain conditions not even opioids can get a handle on. on top of that add some family tragedy and a good portion of severe suicidal depression for a lifetime. maybe some horrifying and debilitating schizophrenia. or how about an accident that leaves one in a paraplegic state with no hope of recovering. no muscles anymore, no way to portray the tough man image. then let me see how tall you manage to stand and more importantly for how long. I obviously don't wish him any these things. i don't wish these things on anybody. I just wanna show that people usually don't understand how fast everything can turn into an inescapable nightmare. some people experience suffering a good portion of humanity cannot even imagine. without any hope of finding an exit. a nightmare you never wake up from again. at least not in this lifetime. people always think they're tough. it's usually the people who don't know how deep misery and despair can go. it goes deeper than joy and love can ever go high. love prevailing over evil and suffering only happens in disney movies. in reality, there's not even a competition.

Concerning the canvases who tapped out: If anyone watches this show wondering if this is the norm for tattoo artists and clients... NO. IT IS NOT. It's reality tv. Real artists (at least all the ones I've met) are usually extremely courteous, thoughtful, and professional. Abuse does not make you a better artist, whether you're the one receiving it or dishing it out. Competition can be brutal, but winning should never come at the cost of someone else's well being. Ink Master also dramatisizes majority of the interpersonal conflict.

For people watching this and rethinking getting a tattoo because of the pain these people are going through, I've been to five different artists, and all but one was consistently checking in on me every time I so much as sighed to make sure I was doing okay. The one that didn't was tattooing the top of my spine and that one just HURTS. Lol. But honestly, my most painful ones (besides the spine) were some of my smallest because they were by a heavy-handed apprentice. It mostly depends on the artist. Professional artists won't go to the point of panic attack. Some people can't handle the pain at all, but a lot of these folks already have several.

I haven't seen the episode with the Cheetah girl so I'm not sure if she ends up asking or settling for Leopard print later on but I know damn well that the end product of her tattoo is nothing remotely close to Cheetah print. Cheetahs have dots everywhere, there's no brown inside of them or any rings that make up their dots. Did no one on the show catch that lmao? Please let me know if I'm just missing info cause yikes.

Even the reference picture they had was of a leopard. It doesn’t say in the season that she switched for leopard but she might have off camera.

*TIP* Put ice with about 1/4 cup cold water in a gallon-size zip lock plastic freezer bag and squeeze as much air out as possible. Wrap a bandana around it for double thickness of cloth between client and the bag. Depending on their position: 1) If face down drape it over the back of their neck. Place towel over it to help hold cold in. 2) Lying down face up place cold bag on top of a folded towel and have client lay on the bandana wrapped bag. Towel underneath helps fit the bag up to their neck. 3) If client is sitting, place bag on back of neck, have them hold it in place. Wrap a $1 dollar store scarf around the neck to secure bag and knot in back. *THE COLD* helps with pain by confusing nerve signals on way to brain and may also help with anxiety/panic attacks. *IMPORTANT* Keep ice cube trays in your shop freezer for one purpose. If client can't draw a breath due to stress place the ice cube tray on their BARE SKIN ON THE SPINE... *AIM FOR BETWEEN SHOULDER THE BLADES* The bodies natural reaction is to automatically suck in air. Follow immediately with a break and words of great care assuring them this happens to other folks for any number of reasons. They may be embarrassed so BE KIND! These tips come from my doctor plus 10 years as a massage therapist, 13 schools of ongoing education and devotion to research. I do not know everything but what I know...I Know.

I'm amazed cheetah girl made it as far as she did. What a champ man. She did the absolute best she could and pushed through until she totally mentally and physically broke. They should've gave her a break or something. Poor thing.

When the cheetah girl said "I just want it to go away", my heart broke. These people are senseless, it's inhumane. And all they were thiking about was not finishing their shitty quality tattoo. Seriously disgusting. Some people shouldn't be allowed to tattoo.

also on the cheetah one i dont know if anyone else noticed that the picture that they were using as reference was a leopard and not a cheetah. although both animals have spots, the spots on a leopard differ greatly than that of a cheetah

Holy fuck I nearly had a panic attack just empathising with the poor girl that was begging for a break while four people just kept telling her to calm down and tough through it. If your canvas is at breaking point there's nothing to be gained by pushing them past it. And it feels so creepy to be basically warping the idea of consent, sure the canvas gave you the go-ahead to start, but when they're literally begging for you to stop and you keep going that's assault right? I know that would turn things into rape if it was sex

it made me annoyed that they got mad at that girl with the cheetah tattoo. I mean, seriously, they said "lets cover as much as possible". I don't think she was ready for that and they were kind of inconsiderate to how she felt about it.

I feel so bad for cheetah girl... Why didn’t the show just have each part be on a separate day? Why 4 people at once? The tattoo looked great, I’m sure she would’ve liked it if they didn’t push her so hard...

I understand some canvases may be dramatic but they’re still people, IMO if you can’t sympathize with them then you aren’t an ink master. There’s more to being a tattoo artist than just tattooing good pieces.

I can’t stress enough how embarrassing it is to watch the tattoo artist be offended that their canvas is in pain. Family, friends, strangers, possible clients, possible employers, much more professional tattoo artists are watching you mock and throw a tantrum over the number one thing that every tattoo artist prepares for and is easy to solve.

The poor cheetah girl was near on having a panic attack due to the pain, the medic guy was so kind to her. Also, I know with piercings you're not meant to get more than three at a time due to healing, more than three massive tattoos at once must be torture for the body to heal it surely?
