if you are ever a canvas on the show, go in and tell them you want a fully realistic landscape with a pinn up in space on the ribs. The skullpick will then give you the best artist. At that point, tell you artist what you really want.

I like Sausage but he handled that wrong too. He made it about not being in his best interest instead of the clients'. He did the same with the Japanese dragon and although that canvas wasn't as a confrontational but he also didn't compromise and got the tattoo where he wanted.

@@korie4198 It's a competition so I think that the canvases are in the wrong. They signed up for a free tattoo. If they want a say in their tattoo, go to a shop. Otherwise, you get what you get at the show. Having their input should only be something that the artist wants to do if it goes along with the theme, but if not, they should have the right to say no and the client not do a damn thing about it. Don't sign up for a free tattoo and not expect something like that.

@@wintermoon7003 incorporating the person's ideas is not only part of the competition but also a part of running a tattoo parlor in real life. People don't often come in and say do whatever you want wherever you want. On the show they do sometimes have an open canvas, but it's impractical to do that for every tattoo. The contestants also know that is going to be part of their challenge, so it's just ridiculous to see them throw fits too. As for Sausage I think he would have been better off focusing on how that placement ect wouldn't give the person the best results, not on how it's a disadvantage to him.

As someone who has mutilple tattoos, Natalie doesn’t understand that her skin tone isn’t going to reflect the details she’s requesting. I’ve PAID for tattoos that turned out badly and it’s just a risk you take. His problem was not knowing how to navigate the situation and let his frustrations take over his emotions to ensure her he’s the professional

funny enough. i was offered to be a canvas on the show. but theres a ton of rules you have to follow, you have to sign an NDA, and you have to pay for the trip to and from wherever they are doing inkmaster from that season.

Jamie’s canvas was alright. Not the toughest customer but they ended up compromising. The Phoenix canvas was something else. She is the worst type of customer to have, for any sort of service. That hot headed birdie really smoked out James’ ability and desire to do a great tattoo. Jay’s canvas, similar to James’ but less antagonistic, only marginally tho. Scott’s canvas was really not that bad, it’s her first time getting a big tattoo so i could understand the excitement for having these crazy elements to make a wild tattoo. Ashley’s canvas was rude. Not in the fact that she wanted an unrealistic tattoo, but in the fact of criticizing an artist, who didn’t get to choose the canvas btw, who doesn’t know the subject matter. If she wanted a model of her bike, she should’ve brought in a picture, not be rude when she tried to do her best in doing something presentable. The Marked Society’s canvas - probably her first time getting a tattoo, or rather a big tattoo on a visible part of the body. Made things complicated but it ended up okay in terms of coming to a decision.

I felt bad for James because I can relate. I suffer from CPTSD and people being confrontational makes me shake too because I'm trying to avoid having an episode and lashing out. Continuously pushing someone's buttons when they are already clearly upset is so wrong. I never liked Jay and I think he intentionally did an fd up tattoo on that canvas as punishment for ticking him off.

It's amazing to me how some of these artists respond to their clients. Yes, this is a competition and these people signed up so they could get a free tattoo. That said, how do any of these tattoo artists get work if they're so rattled/angry/upset when their client nitpicks? It's something that'll be on their body FOR LIFE. Yes, they need to have faith in their artist but the artist also has to work with the client. I can't fathom how some of these folks run a business.

In the real world the artist wouldn’t be under pressure to carry out the instructions of a specific challenge. They wouldn’t have to be trying to convince someone to get a traditional [insert style] tattoo of [insert subject]. The customer comes in, says what they want, artist works with them. A-holes like that phoenix person or Jay’s one (and I cannot stand Jay) could simply be refused service.

It amazes me that people think that it's ok to use and abuse people in the service industry, which yes, a tattoo artist is part of that. That's like nitpicking your salad to the waiter because there's a tiny bit of food that they didn't want in their salad. If you're not going to act that way with your waiter, then why would you your tattoo artist? ESPECIALLY because it's going to be on your body forever! Wouldn't you rather WORK WITH YOUR ARTIST than to nitpick every little tiny detail? If you don't like something that's fine, but the way these people are acting, it's crazy! I would throw every single person out of my shop if I was a tattoo artist and they were acting like that. Don't have confidence in me and my ability? Then get the fuck out!
