White lithium grease is the worst grease to use because it adheres to metal very well making it perfect lubricant for metal to metal surfaces, as well as being high heat resistant and waterproof. All these things are bad for bearings because now you won't buy replacement bearings so the bearing manufacturer is going to go out of business, crashing the world economy. So in short, your grease choice caused the global recession

This is a great mod on my CBR600RR, really cleans up the shifts, especially noticeable when used in conjunction with aftermarket rearsets which already tightens up the gear shift action. Both up and down shifts are crisper. Used with a QS is even more betterer.

Mrs Gears bought a brand new 125cc Chinese brand (won't say which one) bike a few years ago, and I rode it into the dealers for its run in service. I told the 'mechanic' that when stopped, the bike wouldn't go out of 1st gear into neutral at all. I had to rock the bike back and forward to get it out of gear... Seeing the L Plate on the bike, his reply was "Motorbike gearboxes are different from cars. You need to rock them back and forwards..." 😮 To which I gladly informed him that I'd been riding bikes for over a decade and NEVER had to rock one back and forward." Needless to say, I did the work on the bike myself and told them to shove the warranty! 😂😂😂

Something that wasn't mentioned. These types of supports require regular maintenance. The needle bearing is not sealed and will need regular greasing if you don't want it to seize up on your shaft. The other thing I'd probably mention is that these are pretty much snake-oil when it comes to shift quality. There is not enough force in the shift drum to cause any significant flex in the shaft during rotation. That is unless something is seriously wrong, in which case you should be servicing your transmission not bolting on an overpriced needle bearing. It might offer some shear protection to the shaft in the event of an accident, but I suspect that would be pretty situational. Save your money for tires...

There is a rubber seal on both sides. Same as your dog bone. And in that it lasts thousand even when offroading. So on a road motorcycle where it's not even exposed to water like an offroad machine is (water crossings, mud) I don't think you will ever need to grease them.
@pax19806 ай бұрын
@@kovrcek No, it is only sealed on the front, the rear is open to all the grit and jump the sprocket can pull in. I know because I threw money away on one of these for a speed triple a few years back.
