Isn't it a bit odd that Louis thinks that the poorer areas of a country are somehow more representative of that country's culture than the middle class areas? It's like he's trying to prove to us that he's not classist or something when he says stuff like that. No one's judging you Louis; just enjoy your upper middle class status lol.

Well to be honest, the middle class is similar to why you find here in the states. In the "poor" areas you'll experience what the country is actually like instead of it being like your typical modern area. Kinda like if you go to Japan and instead of going to Tokyo you visit Kyoto which still embraces the culture and their roots

Because it's true! Those middle class areas are pretty much just Americanized. If you go to the mall over there, you'll see te same exact stuff over here as over there. Only difference, instead of a Big Mac and fries you'll get a Big whatever their main staple is and something else. You go to the slums, you truly get a taste and feel for their culture where it's not really Americanized, hence you go from the Bjg Mac to the sheep heads!

I feel like that man that had helped you guys get into that part of town was trying to tell you guys how serious the situation could've been at the end and you kind of just blew it off... It's kind of a rule of thumb that if you have something expensive and you're not in a good part of town you hide it, you don't leave it on the car. Louis isn't stupid. Irresponsible sometimes (just like any human being) but not stupid. I believe the reason Louis came off as nonchalant about the encounter with that man is because Louis isn't one of those people who know how to handle/ take an outward confrontation. I mean Clearly the man was pissed off. Louis was probably just as shocked at the man's hostility as his friend but instead of outwardly sounding/feeling guilty he was inner scolding himself for not being smarter. All together he just didn't want to make the situation worse. To me is seems like He just kinda shut down inwardly & outwardly became a bit mechanic. I know it seems as though Louis could've reacted more apologetic/guilty But you have to understand that everyone has their own way of dealing with things. Don't judge too much if you don't know the whole story :)

I've been to some of the most dangerous places in both Haiti and El Salvador, and my experience was like Louis'. The people are so amazing and the culture is so rich in these places. LOUIS! I know that you aren't going to Melbourne but if you get the chance, head down to the Mornington Peninsula which is South of Melbourne. Great scenery, plenty of things to do and you'll be able to produce some awesome content! (dolphin swims, hot springs, bushwalks, surf, scenery and an old abandoned pioneer quarry to swim in. Just to name a few!). We have good weather coming too! YEW.
