Hey buddy, thank you so much for your tips, I was going mad trying to setup my 48mn shocks on my C10, I was ready to give up and put the originals back on, but, thanks to this video I dialed in the shocks perfectly, your last rubber bands tip is awesome, I'm running them with the original springs, positioned on the rail, not the posts, rubber bands front and back, best of both worlds, stops the nose lifting and the back axle going under when climbing up and still gives me all of the extra travel going over obstacles, my C10 went from a decent crawler to an unstoppable force of the crawling gods!!!! Thanks man

Some great tips man, excellent video!! I found that my best set up with the double barrel shocks was actually to use the stock spring on them, works great at keeping the original ride hight and its really easy to adjust the hight too.. that paired up with the upside down shocks made a night and day difference for me
@CapeCrawlers2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Your setup is an excellent one. Since this video I’ve started doing that exact thing to the gladiator.
@V8chump Жыл бұрын
I also found the stock springs on telescopic shocks to be great! I use stock rear shocks and extended front shocks with the stock spring. That way when I come over an obstacle my front tires try to reach down much further so I get high centered less often and with the stock springs it doesn’t flip backwards. Using the long springs that come with the telescopic shocks REALLY decreases performance because the spring makes your ride height way way too high

I love the one o ring idea. The looseness of the articulation makes perfect sense. I used your idea with the linkage as well-specifically the injora high clearance, 4 link linkage. I only run one o ring on my belly dragger's linkage. It really loosens up the articulation and allows the axle to move much more freely. Would love to hear your thoughts on this

You can try mounting those shocks to different locations to try to get the back end sitting level. You can also experiment with different springs/lengths. Sometimes you can use the harder springs that come with the shocks and trim them to a shorter length to get the height you want

Can you detail the shock setup on the C10, or maybe provide some links for the suspension? I like the idea of using the stock springs but adding more articulation a lot.
@CapeCrawlers Жыл бұрын
Sure! In this video, I am using the stock front shocks but mounted to the frame. It's a quick trick to add more axle drop without buying any new parts. In the back, I am running 43mm Injora shocks (amzn.to/3FP4lkf). These are also frame mounted to allow for lots of axle drop. But this is where stock springs come into play. I install the stock springs on the long travel shocks to keep the ride height down. Otherwise mounting these long shocks to the frame would severely lift the chassis, which we don't want. Stock springs, or no springs at all, counteract this.

@CapeCrawlers2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I have the mofo chassis on my deadbolt. I was having binding issues early but it turned out to be my linkage and not the shocks. Once I got the links right, the suspension worked great. That chassis has so many options for shock placement you should be able to find a spot for smooth operation easy enough. You can see how I mounted mine in the deadbolt build video.
@cardboardcrawlersrc88052 жыл бұрын
Hey Ricky. Just reading some old comments. Have you tried spacing the upper mount out off the frame/mounting point. I often use two spare grommets from pivot balls or even an extra axle nut. Just that 1 or 2 mm of spacing off really helps. I have many sets of double barrels and on one or two sets I have also had to sand the lower barrel to get smoother action. Good luck

Bummer!! I have experienced this but never had much luck retrieving the screw unfortunately. Here are some of the methods I was recommended: superglue the tip of your screwdriver to the broken screw, then when it dries try to remove it. Hi Adam, thanks for the great videos! I'm adding the 43 RC lions to my Deadbolt. What do you do to get max articulation from the links? I find that I can't "tilt" the links any more than about 40 degrees. Thus, how do you get almost 90 degrees of tilt (in some of your other videos, for example)? I have Injora high clearance aluminum links and I took one O-ring out from each connecting point for more articulation, but can still only get about 40 degrees. Thanks!
@CapeCrawlers Жыл бұрын
Try it with the 43mm shocks and one o-ring at the top of each shock mount and see how that does. You've done exactly what I would suggest for the links. Did you do the four link conversion in the front? That helps a lot too.

Best thing to do is try all the options and see what you like! Tinkering is the best part 👍

Hey boss I upgraded my dif covers and few more things but after my dif covers and my dif came apart and I put it back together for some reason won’t drive anymore, I’m pretty sure I put everything back together right, it was a bit difficult to get servo back into dif but now it’s seems to be locked up or something I can’t figure it’s out. It’s brand new just did the upgrades now not working…

How does the upside down shocks effect dampening if at all?
@CapeCrawlers2 жыл бұрын
In my experience it doesn't. Your spring selection will impact your dampening, but running them inverted or traditional shouldnt impact the dampening. I personally dont notice a difference.

How do your shocks drop so fast and easy. I have Hot Racing 43mm oil vs, with no oil. Mine won’t settle and drop slow. Do you have an oil wt you recommend for these little trucks?
@CapeCrawlers Жыл бұрын
I don't run any oil in mine. Only occasionally will I put some grease on the shaft and that's it. I rely on the weight of the axles to drop them quickly.

My first rig is the wpl c24-1. The things i have had to do to Mod it to work right is insane. I want one of these. think maybe gladiator might be a better choice. Then just pull the springs out. Change Electronics, I have a controller an 30a esc brushed. And i have a 21g all metal waterproof dspower servo. Would that work ? I don't have a bunch extra parts cause i am new. So i have to be careful what i do.

Thanks for the tips. I am applying those modifications to my deadbolt. I am installing the long barrel Injora shocks at an angle. I get great articulation, but the driveshaft at the front comes off. Any suggestions?

You need some sort of limiting strap. I like to use rubber bands and loop them around the linkage behind the servo and up over the body mounts.

I've turned shocks upside down for many years on all my vehicles that will allow it.. because cheap ones from overseas leak, and although very minor, more weight is positioned down low.
