As someone who does 1-2 long international trips for work every year, the card is a great deal. Easy to get the $300 travel credit back. Priority pass is much better overseas in my experience. Not the fanciest lounges, but usually decent food and cold beer or decent wine. Priority pass in the US is more of a mixed bag. Some nice lounges in terminal 1 at JFK, but if you are not in T1 or T4 you are out of luck. At ORD, if you are going out of T5 and your timing is right, you might get into the small lounge. Beer is cold, sandwiches are decent, but nothing to write home about.🤠

good to know; lounges have been a huge (US) dissappointment. Hours prohibit entry-taking a lot of early flights and they aren't open , they have wait lines outside, or no food (Maui, unless you go to another terminal and usually no time) and my home lounge contracts out with Luftansa so no entry during hours I can go!

I went to the Cap1 website last week because I was just curious to see what they would pre-approve me for. It turned out to be every card on their site so I jumped on the VX before they changed their minds. It's my new catch-all card because of the 2X. My Freedom unlimited is now in the sock drawer.

🤠 Being locked into Capital One's travel portal to use the annual travel credit and get elevated rewards on spending is definitely something that knocks this card down a peg. Yes, I got the card and tried to book several different versions of an international flight. The portal wouldn't book the flight. I even called the help support, and they couldn't help either. The reason? The flights weren't available, but they still appeared as options on the Capital One travel portal. I tried different dates, different airlines, and nothing would work. Very very frustrating.

🤠. I have the Venture X and love it, but I'm a bit afraid of how quickly some of the benefits got nerfed (price match travel credit vs statement credit, priority pass restaurants). I got the CSR mainly for the welcome bonus. I was going to downgrade to CSP, to still have access to Chase partners. With the way Capital One is nerfing their card, do you think it makes sense to keep the CSR as well? Don't want to downgrade only to upgrade again in 6 months when the Venture X is nerfed again.

The Capital One Venture X card has been great for me. Very easy to use the $300 Travel credit which worked out very well for a ski trip. The 10,000 Anniversary mile bonus is a no brainer since it does not require a minimum spend. If paired with the Savor or Savor One card you can really get some sweet value. 🤠

🤠 Based out of DFW. Love the Venture X. Used the $300 credit for a night stay at a Disney property. I was able to price match after booking and receieved a $60 travel credit and earned 5k points for the booking. I booked a flight (domestic) with the 10k Annual Points, getting about $200 value. Hertz is amazing. I've booked a few different times this year and got upgraded every single time to SUVs.

I haven’t seen any finance KZbinr mention this about this card, but keep in mind that you WILL be out the $95 of the annual fee at some point of owning the card. To keep it simple, after the first year, the 10k miles “pays you back” for it, but if you ever cancel the the card at the end of an anniversary year, you will NOT be “reimbursed” meaning that last year, you will be paying that fee. Something to know. 👍🏼

I cancelled my Venture X after year 1. I already had the CSR and two AMEX plat's. It just did hold up as well as the others and the last straw was losing the PP restaurants which I still have thru the CSR and Ritz cards. Not a bad card, just not right for my setup. Also just ate at the Lark Creek Grill in SFO two days ago and it was great as always.

One thing I wish was explained better before I got this card is that the travel credit is through their travel portal. You must redeem the $300 by booking on their portal. This can be a huge downside if you want to use or earn loyalty with hotels or airlines, and if you want to book the most competitive cash price, which isn’t always through cap1. Still love the card but it’s a downside that doesn’t get emphasized.

This is my year 2 with venture X. Im considering to cancel it bc their travel benefit is not good. Also customer service (price match) sucks.. The travel portal doesnt offer packages (flight/hotel) and filters dont offer variety of options. No free breakfast included with through parterns while if you book the same hotel, free breakfast is included and per averg, is 100 to 200 cheaper in expedia/priceline/booking. Also, there is no domestic carriers (yes you can transfer credit and get domestic flights but is limited). PP is not accepted in my city-o'hare. I really liked the restaurant credit but is longer offered. Umm.. i dont know...

It’s a solid card and has most that you need. Great travel partners. Good insurance protections and rental car status. Agree with you that there’s some aspects lacking in terms of value, especially compared to AMEX and Chase. Would be amazing if the lounge in DEN would open up already 🤠 once they open those up, people will be storming to get the card even more. And then perks or fee will rise like chase/Amex 😢 overall my hope is traffic at Amex lounges goes down a bit, and evens out with the capital one lounges.
@jongwoolee130 Жыл бұрын
Just for my curiosity, r u referring amex platinum? If so what advantages does platinum have comparing to the venture x?
@asc1892 Жыл бұрын
@@jongwoolee130 yes the platinum, pro for Amex platinum is Marriott/Hilton hotel status’, airport lounges (imo Amex is the best I’ve seen with consistent US coverage, Amex fine hotel and resort upgrades, hertz 4 hour late waive, rental car status, and solid credits for Uber, hotel and airline, plus clear (which I value not too much but it’s a nice to have). Oh and good insurance protections too! Con - high fee, gotta make sure you use everything to make it profitable. Make sure you travel often to get value. I travel every month or so, so it’s extremely valuable for me. Especially lounges with unlimited drink and food 🤠 Pro on capital one is that it has solid primary rental insurance coverage, rental car status with hertz, travel credit (but through the portal), and decent travel partners. I use LifeMiles for international trips and capital one and Amex have been good with that. Also capital one is simpler, one credit and that’s it. Easier to deal with but less value compared to Amex. Overall, Amex I’d say is better than capital one. Con of capital one, is that the lounges have been delayed, there’s only one that currently exists, others have been delayed for over a year. And even when those come out, they dwindle in comparison to Amex. Priority pass is useful in select US airports, more useful abroad. Also small credit score thing worth mentioning… Amex is better from a credit score perspective too. Let’s say you spend $6K in a month, Amex isn’t going to ding your credit score compared to capital one. If you’re credit limit on capital one is 20k, and you spend $6K, your utilization will impact your score. Compared to larger purchases on AMEX won’t be impacted at all on your month to month score. Recommendation: get both if you travel often and willing to do the work. Get capital one if you want a simpler setup. Get Amex if you want luxury and everything, and willing to do the work. Personally, I’ll keep both because it’s nice to have capital one in the back pocket for lounge access and point accrual is better on capital one for some things, compared to Amex platinum.
@steve_rogers_usmc1990 Жыл бұрын
I think the Venture x is the best premium travel card on the market right now. Less of an annual fee than most, C1 pays you each year with credits to keep the card, all of the protections this card offers is amazing especially cell phone protection. I don't care about the nerf to restaurants on PP because a lot were abusing that and going there every day, so I understand the change. When Chase offers more to compensate for that 550 annual fee I will consider them and as for Amex I am not a coupon person so that 695 fee would be a waste for me.

🤠 So the Venture X has been my go to card for quite a lot. Redeeming the 300 dollar credit was super easy. My only complaint is that sometimes the app is kinda annoying. If I owe for example $1000 on my monthly statement by the 1st of the month and I pay half one week before it doesn’t show on the app that the other half is still due it basically just says your minimum payment is met. Haven’t found any other way to confirm what I owe when paying my bill in increments before the due date other than tracking that myself or calling the customer service number directly to confirm.🙄 Otherwise this card has replaced my Costco Citi Visa card for purchases at Costco because I’d rather get points instead of cash back.

Wouldn't the rest be the "statement balance" If you owed $1500, and paid $750, continued to use the card and in 2 weeks wouldn't the statement balance be $750? 🤠 I was a first month adopter of the Venture X. I had been a Venture cardbholder for 13 years at that point anyway and this was a no brainier for me. The 100,000 point into offer and the original PP membership made this an amazing card as an initial topish tier card. I added the Savor card 6 months later to really capitalize on my spending. The devaluation on PP did hurt me since I do live in PDX and used the credits at Capers when flying. I also am growing impatient with the Denver Lounge delays but do understand the current state of construction. I however do still think this is an amazing card (especially when teamed with the Savor). As Sebby said, further devaluation would call for further evaluation. For now however it remains at the front of my wallet.

Despite all the hype, I've decided the venture X isn't for me. I don't like being forced to book through a portal and I mostly book flights with Southwest. With the venture X I'd only get 2x back when I can get 3x back with my gold card or 4X with my altitude connect card. Secondly, I work part-time for a hotel so I can get discounted rates, so I would very very rarely book a hotel through the portal. Plus I have the venture one so I have access to the travel partners and I have the saver one. So I kind of feel like I don't need the venture X.

I sacrificed a chase slot for venture x early this year to share lounge assess across my extended family. We are sometimes pay extra to fly from JFK to use the longes and my family hates to relocate to EWR. I am so looking forward to the “lounge” assess at LGA!

I still can’t get approved for this card with an 800 credit score. Maybe I should miss a few payments 🙄

I have an 800 credit score with 7 cards, $54,000 limit, and 2% utilization and even got denied for just the venture ☹️. Not Sure what it takes. They said too many lines of credit. Wonder how long between cards I should wait to get approved

I mean...you have 7 cards...you may need to wait a little longer before requesting. Also - how many hard pulls are on your credit report?

Hey Sebby ! Struggling with whether to go with the Venture X or CSR! I have about 260k UR points. Also have about $500 cash with the Savor Card. (I got that card before the AF and it’s waived every year) !

Wow! That’s a sharp turn, Sebby! I wonder why - transfer miles were never so “hard to use” for you. Sorry for the tone, just a bit 💔 🤠

I have but never use spend on it. Chase is better in most scenarios

I think capital is going to raise the annual fee to 495soon. The reason they put 395 at beginning is to track more applications. What you think sebby ?

I product* changed my CFU to a Flex. And now I need a catch all Visa for Costco. Right now i only have 1x Visa's for Costco. Was thinking of the VentureX to fill this and yes, I would travel enough to get -$5 EAF Edit: Typo Edit 2: 🤠
