As Parenti has said, "racism is one of the great success stories of Capitalism." And everything that Terry Crews said is absolutely spot on. As young men we are taught to flaunt our sexuality, to conquer as many women as we can, and to show no feelings at all. Men who have followed this template for most of their lives now feel an inability to connect with the opposite sex. I wonder why. I realized a few years ago that I had to be authentic with women, that I had to surrender to my true feelings, that I didn't have to suppress my human emotions, and that I had to simply see women as equal human beings and treat them as such. Men don't realize that they CAN compliment a woman on her looks and not be 'creepy.' If you're authentic when you compliment a woman, and just ask her if you can be honest before telling her she's beautiful, and really mean it, she'll sense that you're being genuine and will appreciate it under most circumstances. But men have to get rid of this toxic masculinity and learn to connect with their own human side. It's really not as complicated as they make it seem.

I love how Christians love to say that their religion has made the world such a better place. But when I look back at these ancient times in many countries even Egypt women and men were treated as equals, woman were teachers, priests, and even leaders, took Christianity what 2000+ years to even get back to that type of equality, not impressed. See Hypatia to see the type of equality found in ancient civilization an equality that their religion destroyed and forbid and even placed the blame of the fall of man on the woman.

You don’t have a very good knowledge of the history of Christianity, and you believe it as monolithic is if one thing. early Christians were socialists: And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. Acts 2:44 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. Acts 4:32 And if you want a Pagan perspective Lucian of Samosata said the same they shared all in common and the religion according to him was mostly women and orphans. How is the sentiment in modern times? Rev. Robert Rauschenbusch fought against child labor, and Rev. Martin Luther King fought for civil rights and created a poor person’s campaign. I think many Christians do good things and improve lives, they don’t have a monopoly on good deed doing.

Everything you say is true. Great speech. One thing you didn't mention is that toxic masculinity is part of the whole culture. I want to move forward as a progressive man, but what am I supposed to do about the fact that most women find a man who makes more money much more attractive? There have been plenty of studies that show this to be the case. Also, and I don't think you believe this, but for some reason there is an idea that feminism means women taking over as CEOs for oil and gas companies or any corporation that is part of the military industrial complex. That's not being a feminist imo it's just being a female patriarch. Which defeats the purpose.

It is the dichotomy between equality and hypergamy that causes "toxic masculinity", whatever that is. She wants a man that makes more money and then expects him to pay for everything, yet she screams that she get paid less. She wants her man to be more assertive then undermines and overrides his decisions. She wants her man to protect and defend her yet wants him to be kind and vulnerable. She wants men to boost her ego via praise and compliments yet yells "harassment" when a man does compliment her. They keep their men frustrated sexually until SHE DECIDES otherwise yet complain that he isn't open and sensitive to HER needs. She wants him to treat her as an equal while she complains he not chivalrous enough. Capitalism isn't making American men "toxic", American women are. Women will not be happy until all men, and more importantly white men, are grovelling submissive gutter rats. No wonder there is a MGTOW movement.

Justin McNeil It does resemble female patriarchy but that's the system in place, so whoever wants power must play that game. To change the system is a valid role for both men and women, but I think there's something men can concentrate on. This hinges on the perception that the way neighborhoods are structured affects the well being of the family. Design and build something that makes the family strong. Perhaps the traditional roles of building a house for men and building a home for women can be reapplied. Maybe women are waiting for men to build a better house that isn't made untenable by economic forces.

It's less common, but it still happens. Even my friends whose consciousness is raised but slightly are willing to listen if I have a real and pressing problem. It's true that I'm non-white, middle class and millenial, but I've even known many Xers and Boomers who were willing to be my confidant and to encourage me. It seems to me that the toxic masculine is intrinsically tied to toxic femininity, and that men exhibit both of these sets of traits. It is increasingly more socially acceptible for men to exhibit the toxic feminine than it is for them to express machismo and sexual aggressiveness. And as far as I can tell men are often more likely to take on the toxic feminine than the toxic masculine in today's culture. Because personality culture enables passive aggressiveness, push/pull, social manipulation, and morality sanctioning based on status quo or the unspoken just world fallacy. In today's society when people say toxic feminine they think that this language describes women, but this doesn't really make any sense. The classic language isn't really speaking about men or women or gender, it's just a masculine and feminine like yin and yang. And the saddest thing about all of this men vs women thing is that it represents this false authenticity and false progressiveness which has now essentially tried to divert people from ever seeing structural violence, and the system designs which lead to the largest source of violence in the world, and the largest cause of behavioral violence itself- which is structural violence as James Gilligan has said and written about. It is economic war, artificially created famines, corporatism, industrial fallout, disaster capitalism, the shock doctrine etc which causes most of the violence in the world. But the corporate media has since the 2016 election really been doubling down on the propaganda that violence is fundamentally caused by one gender against another- men against women. That worldview although based in a very superficial truth is entirely self defeating because it never addresses the underlying problem- which is corporate fascism and structural violence.

Atom please watch the video properly. It’s not men’s fault but a large amount of society has been “designed” socially and financially for men (and also detrimental to the majority of workers who were men) . There are changes both men and women need to make but changes men make have a greater affect on our world because of our standing as the default and the effects that history and society have granted us. It was the incentive of profit for the capitalist that has created the changes in men and women dynamics that have made the majority of men unhappy and unsure of their place. People such as Jordan Peterson have a completely false critique of the cause and his weird dissonant term of cultural Marxist’s and his hatred of feminism as if it is a monolith is strange. When his ideas are debated by anyone with any sense you see that his critiques are half baked and stem from a conservative Christian mind set

If feminism is so great then why are men and women the most unhappy then ever in history?? This is the 4th wave of feminism and it’s still yet to produce anything of substantial value!! Communities that have women as the head or a smoldering crater! The reality is that every feminist talks about equality as they drive, speak into and use MAN MADE PRODUCTS! Men have not changed and neither have our gender roles! We still are expected to impose environment, build and protect!! So I’m not sure if your reasoning is very solid for the meat of this video! Men are still objectifying women and exploiting them through porn and the sex industry. The Epstein case shows we still have work to do. Women are still fighting this. Men need to stop demanding that women thank them for the buildings and roads they built (btw, did YOU build them?) You don't get to accept praise for something men did years ago, especially when women were not allowed to partake in building up the world.
