Thanks for the memories ! My first home was the penthouse of the Hollywood Towers while my brother Kelly was one of the boys on Lassie Show. Kelly and Jon Provost were cast from Hollywood Professional School as youngsters. My uncle Amerigo Marino worked at Capitol arranging and as a violinist on many recordings there. You tied the two together. The Golden age. Thank you!

My Grand parents and Great Aunt and Uncle built the Hollywood tower building. Originally the 2 top Penthouse apartments were they were each going to live. Lost it in the Great Depression.

@@scottgruberescobedoms7527 What a story! My dad's father lost a lot in the depression also because he was fully margined in the stock market. Consequently he lost substantial real estate in those days due to owing so much. It was a tragedy for sure!

Always loved the Capitol Records building. I had a co worker friend that worked for Capitol Records in the Quality Control dept where she had to wear headphones to check the quality of each record. She finally left Capitol Records for a government job with better benefits.I think it’s converted now into luxury apts with the same architecture in 2022. I forgot what recent year the conversion took place. At least the facade was preserved. How cute, Jah wanted to go inside the building❣️Thanks Jordan for filling in the details. ❤️🙏🏻

Bogart died at his home after a long battle with cancer. Lauren Bacall took care of him throughout his sad illness. I cried when I read her autobiography, she was so young and was devastated when he died.

Possibly Shelly was talking to you about the 'even older' record store called Wallach's Music City, on the northwest corner of Sunset & Vine. They had many separate booths with a turntable and a pair of headphones. You could check out a LP, take it in and listen to the whole thing before buying it! AND the more than two VERY fine recording studios are on the ground floor. The (More than two) echo chambers ARe underground in the basement level. They were very custom designed and made and are still today considered quite fine. The light on top of the building has a secret. See if you can find it.

According to my research, Shelly wasn't too far off on the location of her star. It seems that the star is located on the east side of the 1700 block of Vine St. You've probably walked over it a hundred times.

Hey Jordan! I'm new to your channel but I've been watching it everyday and I'm digging here into some of your older vlogs. I love what you do! I'm originally from that area and know Hollywood so well, it's so cool to hear all of these amazing stories! One thing I wanted to add is that the tall rod at the top of the Capitol Records building has a red light on the top of it, and for years blinked in Morse code: H-O-L-L-Y-W-O-O-D. I wonder if it still does. I was there when Lennon got his star and Yoko flew in on a helicopter. Very cool! Keep up these great vlogs pal!

Two things: 1 When the building was designed, the 'brand new' 7 inch vinyl record' with the large hole in the middle had just been introduced.....and it was not selling. People were not accepting it. SO, the company and the architect changed the building design from rectangular to round. AND that was supposed to look like a stack of 45 RPM records, with the pointed thingie on top of the building as the 'needle' touching the top record in the stack. The red light was not mandated as there were no helicopters swarming around Hollywood then, plus no nearby airports. They did the 'needle' and the flashing light for effect. 2) NOW the puzzle.. the red light blurts out HOLLYWOOD in morse code 255 times. THEN for the 256th time it says something entirely different. And it still does every night. I see it from in front of my house, and I read code easily as I am an active ham radio fellow, W6LAW. That is the mystery you must solve, as it is a secret!

The story about the creepy guy + Francis Farmer look alike and a case of beer in the Hollywood Tower sounds like one of those weird moments in life that we have & look back on & think ...how did this actually happen to me ? I have a few similar stories that always happened when I was in some one else's car 😂🤣 😂 & thus glad I was sober for every ones sake everything ended well.

Dennis, the Beatles didn't record any of their albums in the USA. Capitol Records was the US distributor of their albums.
