Bought a couple of packages of your Mesquite bean coffee, sipping on a cup of it for the first time. Good stuff, I like it.

Congratulations on a good educational video...!!! I come from Lima, Peru, 86 years old... And I would like to share something about the subject... While growing up in Lima during the 1940's it was the custom then to have social "Cocktails..." and receptions several times during the month... And, during those cocktail hours, the kitchen homes were often confusing and noisy with all the usual people and the catering people, boisterously preparing and/or finishing the "mixes..." and the appetizers... Everyone talking to everybody or the chefs yelling and screaming orders... My family home was no different and I, as a 12 years old busy body and full of bursting curiosity, moved furtively in that room and tasted this and that and, yes... I tasted my first cocktail... It was an "Algarrobina Cocktail..." In Peru, we know the mezquite tree as "the algarrobo tree..." From it they have been preparing a number of different ingredients, from flour to melcocha and the special "jarabe de algarrobina" which is the product used for cocktail mixes... It is sad when the different names a product goes by are unknown to the general public resulting in scarce use of the same at different regions of the world... I also know that in Southern Italy they used to sell "obleas" made out of the sweet edible meat inside to prepare a sort of sweet drop given to children and older people as cough candy for sore throats... Here is a link that will guide you to just one of the many small factories treating this wonderful product in my country of origin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fX-cpZmHnb2Wfdk

My friends Mom has been using mesquite to eat .She made two types of tortillas, and she makes candy with it. She had mesquite candy on a platter IT had a toothpick in it to pick up.And next to it was another candy made from the Red Fruit from the Cactus. I remember her saying the 2 types of tortillas from Mesquite . Both had mesquite and they were mixed with Flour and Corn. She was a small Mexican and Indian woman. No white blood in her she eaid. She looked more Indian to me.She was super nice lady.Aeayscwanted to fix me something to eat when I can by.Her son,my friend moved to Kingsville to go to A&M College there. He died in Vietnam. Thank you for the video. It brought back good memories for me.I hope your business does great. I also remember working cattle down there and the cows were fat and shiney. He said they were eating the mesquite beans and lay in the shade and lick all over their body.He said he thought the cows were addicted to the beans because added use it's all they wanted to eat at times.Does your cattle do that?

"It's fun to see the wildlife..." _shows a cow_ =) To anyone needing to know, the mesquite flour's label says it's gluten-free. So if you have an allergy or something requiring gluten-free cooking, this could be another alternative to things like acorn flour and such.

That's the entire point of this story.... It isn't a bain to those who harvest it and sell the flour..... It's like $15 for a pound....
