Great renovations. But, why the yellow walls throughout the house? Wouldn't white make the place seem bigger? Feels like a cookie-cutter home with that color. Especially with the green cabinets in the tiny kitchen. Love the wallpaper in the bathroom!

Super job 👍 One little tip: Try colour shades like mint, duck egg blue, olive and taupe plus some classy touches like travertin tiles or a marble design wall on your next flip - it'll sell for several thou's more!

Great job! It's a beautiful house, but maybe it would have appreciated more if the popcorn ceilings had been removed, and a fence around the house and an outside patio in the backyard had been built (I'm just speculating from what I see in videos of renovations for sale, but in fact, this depends on fitting the budget and a real estate survey of the area where the property is located). The kitchen is beautiful with its green and white cabinets. Here in Brazil we prefer the kitchen not to be in a totally open concept, while from what I see in American remodeling videos, in the US families prefer the open concept. Was it not done because the kitchen wall was structural, or by your choice? I will watch more of your videos. Thanks and hugs from Rio de Janeiro!

In the US, we are told that is what everyone wants, and so, therefore, everyone says that is what they want, builders build it as such, renovations remodel as such. While it may be the case that a lot of people prefer that, I personally do not and passed on several homes because of it. It does not work for our family.

We thought so too... You're often chasing problems left behind by others. We spent well over 150k on our modest renovation. Every single inch of drywall and every window needed replacing. The electrical wasn't even close to code nor the plumbing. We did most of the work ourselves thinking whatever we put in the house was for long term since we intended to retire eventually and stay there. No such luck. Husband's company transferred us and now our motto is "never again" It would have taken us another 10 years to realize our investment, 10 years we never got to see

Incredible effort 👏🏻👏🏻I like how the kitchen colour brings in the outdoor Forrest idea and the caramel colour on walls highlights a lot of your natural timber. The exterior is a great shade which blends sympathetically into the landscape. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 🙂
@CreativeProcessDIY
@CreativeProcessDIY 11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! You understood the whole idea 👍. We wanted to highlight all wooden details inside of the house, saving the 80s theme and adding a bit of modern details to the interior. The green is great color to blend with an outdoor space (little forest). When you are in the kitchen it feels like you are outside. We OBVIOUSLY DID NOT want to make this house another "high end looking" - this is why we choose these colors and did not paint all interior timber in white. Before choosing colors we analyzed the market. Houses that were much bigger and MUCH cheaper than this house in the area were listed for sale on the market for a very long time and were not sold. White kitchen cabinets, white walls and grey flooring (same colors as everyone said it would be better fit on this house too). Many people did not realize that this is a small house and will be a perfect starter home for a young couple with children and white walls are not a really good idea. Also if you have pets - not a really practical choice. This is why only walls in the master bathroom were painted in white. After people became prisoners of Instagram, Pinterest and other social media many of them want to have just a picture/nice look as someone somewhere has and they forget about their own comfort and about WHAT THEY REALLY WANT. Thank you again!

Big improvement, but I don’t like the color choices - the walls are renter beige, and a GREEN kitchen? I agree that it would have been a good time to scrape the ceilings of the popcorn. The outside could have been a nicer color, too. I’m guessing that the house was being flipped, not renovated for themselves.

Really nice job! And he does everything. Only 2 questions: the drainage of the house was ok? I know its a question of test, …. I really would think about the wall coloring??????, white would have been way more neutral. And the ceiling. The green kitchen very nice. Really the beige color and all brownish…… or is that an old clip, like 20 years ago??

I’m tired just from watching this!! LOL! This is what we call, “sweat equity.” I think it is probably the lighting during filming that made the yellow brighter, and the green cabinets bolder. I want to remodel my kitchen soon. This will inspire me.

Loved watching this. Colours are subjective, and turned out nicely nevertheless. Most of the hard work in the video would never fly with Germany's strict safety and building laws. So it's fascinating to see homes from around the world.

Yea same, it was interesting to watch. But painful to watch the renovation at the same time, none of that renovation would have been allowed in Denmark neither

I don't know where this house is located but some of the work would not be up to code where I am (Minnesota). The outlets by the kitchen sink are 15A and not GFCI. Any outlets within six feet of a water source must be GFCI here and all kitchen outlets must be 20A. Those steps out of the doors at the rear are so small they seem like a trip hazard. I believe you have to have a three foot landing here, but there is only two risers so maybe it's allowed. Still, a fun video to watch.

Not taking anything away from your effort and dedication, but I saw many missed opportunities for doing things a bit differently, i.e., above and beyond your typical "builder grade" renovation materials and techniques that you used. IMHO, you would have substantially improved the finished product and probably your profit margin without much additional cost or effort. I'm sure you know the market and did your research, but it could have looked much more high end.

You really worked hard on this! But I’m afraid you made some bad moves and it might not sale for the price you want. The kitchen is a total fail and kitchens sale houses! The wall colors are dark and drab looking. The bathrooms aren’t bad. There’s just too much dark brown on brown. A lot of the fixtures look like they came from the clearance aisle. If you are going to flip another house stick with white walls and baseboard. Also spend more money on the kitchen. Keep the cabinets white and get a nice big deep sink.

You stayed true to this 1970's house design so TY for that. I think the warm tan is lovely. Good job. However, i would have made pocket doors for the closets since you gutted the house. I abhor bifolds, they are evil nasty things. By putting in the work you got a lovely house (cheaper). I am sure the neighbors are happy too. You should ave installed a wax ring on that toilet. You will figure out why soon enough.

Why would you want to do it in a 70’s theme? This is 2023!

I'm sure they know what year it is, Mary. I bet they did it in a 70s theme because it's their house and that's what they wanted.

For popcorn ceilings: Lay a tarp on the entire floor, one piece or taped! Ladder, spray bottle of water, and a large swath putty knife. Spray the "popcorn", let it soak just a bit, scrape it off, let it fall to the tarp. Once done, sand, apply texture as needed (be thoughtful here -- "texture" applications really don't add value, any kind, truth.
