Benny the fuel filter is a bit of a special beast but they're still easily available on This Side. OEM around JPY 6,000, aftermarket around half that. Edit: OEM Part# １５４１０−８０Ｆ００ Lookin' good. :cheers:

ethanol picks up water and ruins everything when it sits. when I park any vehicle over winter I put clear gas or non ethanol fuel in my tank E10 or E15 is fine but you have to use it

The tank having that much rust in it looks almost like it ran on alcohol at one time, and someone just left a full tank of it inside while it sat. Does E85 rust out tanks? EDIT: It does not.

Normal fuel left in a tank once it starts going stale does that... doesn’t have to have anything accept time iv seen fuel start to go off in a matter of 6 months of just sitting...

Lucas Foster welcome to what happens when fuel goes stale inside a fuel tank... have seen it many times if a car sits long enough the petrol begins to break down and it is really potent picture paint thinners 50 times stronger

Old ethanol gas absorbs water like a sponge. And gas tanks are raw steel inside. They rust fast.

Another great episode, but please please clean parts before u install them , the fuel tank was filthy and the in excess able chassis parts should have been cleaned and protected , to help with longevity. ........

John Paice it’s done pretty well in the 28 years since it was built with no cavity wax etc. the tank was a little dusty but no build up . We are in a very dry climate ( especially now half of the country is on fire :( ) so not necessary.

OMG I've had two cars (S13 and R32 gtst) that both had tanks like that.... PITA to clean out with aqua clear and reseal. Very old fuel REEKS and it becomes this jelly like substance and kerosene

A while ago I got hold of some old filter bits that were off a ute I bought originally. The filters had been sitting outside and looked exactly the same inside as the fuel tank so I'm guessing that's a good amount of water soak.

Uninspired? The car was pretty much the first of it's kind. Up until the Cappuccino, Beat and Az1 there had never really been a true sports car in the kei car category. The reason this car was built is far more inspiring and original than many other cars being produced at that time. As for it's looks that's a matter of opinion.
