Agreed! Maybe we’re not looking deep enough into his meaning for it. There’s brown boxes in the background. Could be representative of the normality of our society’s culture. He’s dressed in the same color brown to represent trying to fit in. If you ever pay attention his backdrops are always artistic while his clothes are always simple and basic. George Carlin was an artistic genius that understood how to truly speak to a crowd.

@MrOuchiez
@MrOuchiez 5 жыл бұрын
Although I agree that his material/viewpoints has thus far proven to be timeless, I would argue this particular bit of his was far more relevant in the mid-to-late 80's, as that era in America was unquestionably the most culturally and economically excessive era in American history. Christ, just look at the cars, the fashion, the hairstyles and of course the drug usage from the era. Sheesh! That aside, I must disagree with one of his points about the purpose of a house... Our houses are primarily for shelter rather than a mere cover for our piles of stuff. At the same time, he's 100% spot on about the inflated size of our shelters, which is only to cover our excess stuff, haha! A true genius, that man...

During his time , George spoke about almost every topic there is regarding American culture. If you're thinking about politics, his stance was that this country was bought and paid for long time ago, and that elections are a farce. He said politicians are not his act's target because they come from American homes, so why are there no people of vision in office if we supposedly can do better. He said the public sucks, and is to blame for their own political woes. He also spoke on gun control, capital punishment, Wall Street greed, and much more.

same here.... I love how George Carlin candidly tells it like it is. God rest his soul, I remember listening to the radio while driving on a highway, and I was shocked to learn of his death the day he passed away, he will truly be missed, by the way he was the conductor on Shining Time Station, used to watch it on PBS growing up in the early 90's.

This is a great video by George Carlin that talks about our "stuff" We have been sorting and pitching (well, donating) and it is ok if I can just share the story of each item with someone. My husband turns off his hearing aid and I just reminisce away. Every now and then he will nod just like he was listening. Good guy.
