Hi there 🙋♀️ This time I tried to show very concrete examples: do you find this more helpful than my previous capsule wardrobe videos? Let me know if you have further questions on shifting from one season to the next one. Happy Sunday! 💛

Yes I love that! It is soooo helpful! especially since I never think about colour themes when I shop and end up with a lot of pretty items that don't match or I end up with almost only navy, white and black. Could you maybe do a video on how to match and style specific colours/items? I really struggle with this, as I don't want to buy new things, but end up wearing the same stuff, as I never know how to style the clothes I have, neither colour or model wise. Thanks and love your videos!!!!

Bonjour Justine! I'm following you for over a year now 😍 Since I downsized my wardrobe, I find it's much easier to decide on what to wear and not get too hot or cold - I didn't do an exact capsule wardrobe, but I considerably downsized and then I realized what colors are the strongest in my wardrobe - I have to admit I was a bit surprised 😂 I love your videos, every single one taught me something new, and I keep recommending your channel to my friends. Geez, I already can't wait for the next one 😁

Once when I told my son to be good or he wouldn't get to play video games, he promptly told me if I wasn't good I couldn't watch any of those "French Lady" (Justine LaConte) videos. I had to laugh. That tells you how much I appreciate your well organized, beautifully appointed videos. I love these capsule wardrobe videos. I believe less is so much more. That said, the thing I often find missing from the discussion has actually been a game changer for me: I take a few minutes to put together an outfit and that's the outfit I'll wear the NEXT day. And I am here to say I have NO extra time, but I will do this. You can be as organized as IKEA, but if you don't take the time to put a few outfits together, you will run out the door misinformed once again that you hate what you are wearing because of your wardrobe. I found this to be the golden bullet because inevitably, when it is time to go somewhere, I feel pressed for time. So to have something ready to go is perfection. It helps me love what I already have and any purchases I make are typically an accessory or two to pull together what I already have. I invested in a nice set of three hooks from The Container Store so I can have three different outfits hanging at a time. I would hazard to guess we already have the outfit we saw and loved in the store window, we just need to take the time to put it together--that's what the window dresser did! :)

hi Renee I live in Toronto, used to live in Quebec City; at the moment we are having halcyon days but yes it will change, sometimes several times a day. This makes me concerned about my dog, who has a thick coat. And us? Ah, yes. Layers is all I came up with; peel one off or put one on. Hope that resonates! Justine lives in Berlin (my mother was a Berliner holocaust survivor) and I've been there countless times and their weather is as unpredictable as ours. A designer in Sweden, Gudrun Sjöden, makes sleeveless cardigans and sweaters. Also turtlenecks in thinner materials to wear under even blouses. Our designers has also learned from athletic wear and are mixing materials. Like wool, so you can wash it at 40 degrees C. They work with frabriques like corduroy and velvet as well. In boots you can buy boots in other main colours in your wardrobe. I have several in winter colours like darke blue, purple and darker green.

My colours stay the same throughout the year (I don't wear light colours, always mid range to dark) so I always team up my summer cloths with leggings and layers when it gets colders :) The only thing my wardrobe needs right now is dark brown bottoms (which are surprisingly hard to find, it's always black, navy or grey or the brown is too red, green or light) and proper warm sweaters and/or cardigans. Which I've decided to design and knit myself. How's that for slow fashion ;)

Salut Justine, it's impossible to feel down when watching one of your generous and inspired videos. Tx again. When I was young I read many fashion magazines because of the art work, may have written this before, and then encountered young men who thought women should look like that so discouraged, I stopped. To continue; I am now of an age where no man can make me feel other than what I am so I am free to enjoy the creativity in design once again. Having said that, I am not always interested in fashion trends for a particular season: although that is your professional calling, I have a much smaller one; how to dress to be myself but find in seasonal patterns those things that I know will suit me. Right now for instance in North America everything is going …. beige. It's a foreign country to me. But there are long flowing lines that work, and I like very much the juxtaposition of something elegant with work boots during the day for women; it's practical, definitely not unnecessarily conventional and one doesn't have to break an ankle wearing a ridiculous shoe by Louboutin with a sole no-one can see. That style one day I hope will be compared to those elaborate wigs worn in the late 18th century which were so unsanitary and uncomfortable that women had to sleep on special wooden blocks and often found mice nesting in those elaborate contraptions …. or whalebone corsets. So much for idiotic shoes. I have a colour palette other than black and white and navy; they can be relied on but I love rich browns and oxblood with a dash of fire red; or blues and certain shades of green. Colour is vr important to me. Some years it doesn't manifest. Similarly, I love long split capes/ponchos/shawls -- not sure how to describe the look, but now they are around again, and I can find a colour. Last year there was a moment of kimono style tops without raised collars; found one and so on. My capsule wardrobe is very small indeed; I don't pay $700 anymore for anything because I can't afford it but I find quality, even in consignment stores and take things to a tailor. I had a faux Chanel handbag; I also own a fur coat which belonged to my mother which is exquise and no I haven't thrown it out; I love the opera and there are places where people won't throw eggs at my beloved mother's coat, which by the way is magnificent. But faux Chanel? Silly. Status symbol, not worthy. You get my drift ...I recently watched a video by the makeup artist Lisa Eldridge (hope 1st name is right). She is an accomplished artist in her field and also a naturally beautiful woman. She talked about bidding for something that belonged to Audrey Hepburn, someone whom she deeply admired, and I also. I don't think given her resources this was frivolous or mad. Audrey Hepburn was her unmet friend, and by owning a token of her, she cemented the bond and felt better. That is an anodyne way to find a style etc. In the same way I loved the Breakfast at Tiffany's Hat and a facsimile appeared and I wear it every chance I get, or Tom Petty's rich brown suede fringe jacket while performing a favorite song of mine in his studio -- found one, it's beige, but life is full of compromise. Hope you understand what I have used too many words to say. A bientot (no circumflex, much change keyboard!)

Thank you for talking about fabrics. I'm in my early 30s and I am just now figuring out how fabrics change not only warmth and breathability but drape and fit. I was always frustrated when the same size by the same brands would fit me differently. But fabric makes such a difference!

Would you please do a video for your viewers who live in warm climates ? I live in Florida USA we don’t really have winter and our fall/spring are still very warm. I used to own a drawer full of socks but since moving here I’ve only worn them a few times. Most days I live in sandals. Given all that i would still like a way to honor the seasons without roasting or looking over dressed.

If you're looking for very comfortable brown boots with or without heels, check out Red Wings! Their heritage line has women's styles, they're incredibly well made and comfortable. I have some Red Wings Silversmiths that I wear nearly every day in fall and spring and they're so comfortable!

This is going to sound odd, but I base my wardrobe of whatever Pantone chooses for Color of the Year. Like this year, I have slowly replaced some of my clothing (ties, socks, some shirts) to match the "Living Coral" color that was chosen. Most of the items (suits, jeans, shoes, etc) stay the same year after year, but I have a lot of fun looking for things that reflect the Color of the Year. I can't wait for what they pick for 2020.

I think I will do a video once the color 2020 is announced 😉

Great video as always @Justine Leconte officiel. Living in a subtropical region of Australia it's always difficult to figure out what to do with my wardrobe. I wonder if you might have the time to produce the occasional video with advice for those of us in the southern hemisphere?

Bonjour Justine! Specific examples are great and very helpful. Your videos would be even more awesome if you show even more pictures of those examples - e.g. if you recommend a cardigan you can show how you wear it or photos of models wearing it in different ways. Thank you!!

Bonjour Justine !

Yay! This is very helpful. I'm packing for a nine week business trip to a cooler climate and was feeling lost. Took a screenshot of your fall capsule structure to guide my selections.
