So great that Brooklyn has this statue to inspire generations. I'll definitely look it up if I visit the USA. This really shows how much impact the MCU has had for the public. Captain America has never been this popular as he is now, especially internationally. His values and ethics is something we should all inspire to. Whilst the American way is up for debate. The ideology of freedom is something that has clearly resonated with audiences around the world. Standing for Truth, Justice and The American Way is still applicable in today's society when people want escapism.

Sucks they picked that line from the movie considering Cap is NOT from Brooklyn. In the very first issue of Captain America by Simon and Kirby he is from the lower East side of Manhattan.....They changed his long lasting history just for the movies and apparently that's considered canon now?? I love comics and I've loved Captain America since J.M. DeMatteis run in the early 80s. But this is very wrong, Prospect Park is public land and Captain America is one of Disney's corporate mascots. And don't try to justify this by saying Captain America means this or that, I love Cap, and have probably before most people here were born, so I know what he stands for and against. But arguing about what Cap means today is a moot point because it is a character owned by Disney and can be used however they want. Heck even nowadays I see his image used to sell poorly made products and very unhealthy junk foods.

Yeah, I thought that at first but later changed my mind. Captain America stands for a set of ideals that every American should and many have strived for for generations; he is a symbol, no different than flying a flag in my opinion... In fact, if they put a flagpole in that same location I don't think it would have the same impact-and I don't mean for nerds, I mean the values that he represents are so strongly associated w/ this fictional character more than any real person that has lived in history. I welcome this symbol of idealism and hope that inspires generations to come.
