Sadly i remember this well along with Clutch Cargo with his pals Spinner & Paddlefoot. And Gumby and Pokey.. At Blue Hills trailside museum they used Captain Bobs voice for one of their displays. I grew up in Boston. I remember these all too well.

As a young greater-Bostonian, I was a regular consumer of Capt. Bob's original daytime television show on WHDH. There were continuing Jasper and Gramps adventures, drawn on paper by Bob and including Herkimer Kiwi and the quest for the Whistling Ruby. Also Mr. Answer would field your questions - I remember hearing him say the word "blubber" and thinking it was side-splittingly funny.

This is GREAT! I watched all of these growing up in Middleboro Mass. I've been looking for shows with Jasper & Gramps! Thanks for posting!!!

I remember this. On one episode the Dog puppet mysteriously disappeared, and some episodes later reappeared with a different voice. Trivia: the chase music at the beginning is the theme of the British radio series "Dick Barton: Special Agent"

Originally telecast on May 4, 1963. The "Ruff and Reddy" episodes are from the "Westward Ho Ho Ho" story arc (Chapters 3-5, originally telecast in February 1958).

Pebey, thanks for sharing this great treasure from the past. I grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts and learned to draw by watching Captain Bob Cottle. I've been looking for a complete episode of the Ruff and Reddy Show for years and now you've posted one! Thank you so much for renewing my memories of this long lost show!!

Alot of episodes of Ruff and Reddy can be watched on YT. It’s not lost anymore.

@@themememaster6775 I know that the cartoon is available on KZbin; however, the original program that presented Ruff & Reddy utilized Captain Bob as the host. In those episodes, Captain Bob taught how to draw. Those are the episodes I'm looking for. Thanks for your response!

The "Ruff & Reddy"TV cartoons..they do survive..but? The live hosting segments that featured:Jimmy Blaine and The Rufus Rose/Bobby Nicholson Puppets and "Capt.Bob"(Cottle)and his puppets..only one tv kinnie film print of"The Capt.Bob"version of the show survives.

What's shame is that there are no kinescopes or videotapes of the original RUFF N' REDDY SHOW from 1957-1960 hosted by Jimmy Blaine. It was on a higher level than this.

Yes..I wished that there was a tv kinnie film print of The Jimmy Blaine and Rufus Rose/Bobby Nicholson version of"The Ruff & Reddy Show"Mr.Pointer...but? sadly, no prints of that series exist..I'm sorry ..I wished that I could be of more help to you.
