I NEVER realized Ginyu IS essentially immortal (biologically speaking) since whenever his current body is on the verge of death he can just switch bodies and get a younger body with a whole new lifetime to look forward too. As for the part about what would happen if ginyu were to switch bodies with a fusion and then the fusion defused, my guess is that Ginyu soul would be ripped in half and he would cease to exist, kind of like being destroyed by beerus or being deleted by Zeno. As for the two bodies of the fused warriors, the bodies themselves would just be dead. Meanwhile the fused warrior souls would be forever trapped together in ginyus body. That's just my head cannon.

I've always wondered about how the body change would affect Launch. Imagine if Launch wasn't forgotten by Toriyama and she accompanied Gohan Krillin and Bulma to Namek (likely to resurect her beloved triclops). Instead of Bulma being taken over in that anime-only scene, Launch is targeted. What happens? Does he supplant both personalities, leaving behind the 2 Launches in another body? Who has bad allergies? Does Ginyu only replace one Launch ad then is subject to the allergy switch? If Launch sneezes during does it negate the ability? or, if she sneezes during does that result in a 3rd Launch personality coming about? Would she have purple hair? What happens to the other body if the technique fails? Does it die?

Not too mention Freeza most likely knew of all their abilities before he brought the Ginyu force in so he’d be keen on Ginyu potentially trying to use that technique.

I think there is another thing that could potentially happen if the body change technique was used on a fused fighter; Ginyu's soul would end up stuck as said fusion and if the fusees, like Goten and Trunks (who would be unaffected), fused back, then Ginyu would return as the soul of their fusion. This, to me, makes a lot of sense since fusions are generally regarded as their own characters instead of simply a fusion of two other characters that have no identity of their own.

7:30 if I remember correctly, there was a bonus story in Xenoverse 2, where Ginyu (as your partner) would swap bodies with Goku Black, while in Super Saiyan Rosé. What I liked about this is that they didn't do what happened in the Resurrection F arc of Super, and he almost immediately overused his ki just to, basically, flex.

With the Body Change on a Fused Character, I think a few different things could happen: 1. The move gets deflected back to Ginyu meaning it cannot affect fused beings 2. It works, but only swaps with one of the personalities (which may lead to the undoing of the fusion if Ginyu and the other personality don’t mix well enough) 3. It completely replaces the fused being’s personality (which is stuck in Ginyu forever (unless he swaps back)) and when (or if) the fused being unfuses, each unfused half has Ginyu’s personality, but not two complete copies, rather each has one half of it with it being random which gets what parts (a side affect to this could be that, if the Ginyu halves refuse and change back into his body, who knows if the halves of the fused being will return to their original bodies when they unfuse) 4. The move could be used to destroy fusions: Take Ginyu and Gogeta for example. Ginyu swaps with them, waits for the timer to run out, when the fusion ends, he’s in Goku’s body while Vegeta’s is essentially brain dead (has no personality to control it). Since there is no one to control Vegeta’s body, re-fusion is not possible and all Ginyu has to do is swap back to his body and from there Ginyu could win.

Tagomas body was hardened from being friezas training “partner”, being torn to shreds and then rejuvenating in the chamber for the next session. So it makes sense that ginyu had exceptional defense after changing with ginyu but his offensive abilities were overkill from the body change unless he had done extreme mental and spirit training while as a frog but the ress f saga in super didn’t say that. I’d have to watch it again but as a dragonball gag it’s still fun, ya know

tagoma was far less experienced than ginyu so ginyu knew more about how to use tagoma's increased strength. Tagoma had training from one source and it was pretty basic so it would have been easy for ginyu to tap into it. Unlike goku who trained in many different ways.

I believe Ginyu cannot switch with Gogeta or any fused character. I believe his technique is 1 soul for another and fused characters are 2 or more souls. Even though they are fused other characters were still able to detect more than 1 soul in that body. Dende detected Nails. Goku detected Kame. Piccolo detected multiple souls in the Universe 6 Namekeans. Ginyu might be able to force out either Goku or Vegeta's soul, but then it would be an internal battle between Ginyu's soul and the remaining soul for control of the fused body which may last for the entire fusion. That's my theory on that. Big fan of your work Geekdom. Love how you meticulously research your subject matters to give us factual information. Keep up the great work.

This is how I interpreted Ginyu taking over Tagoma's body. We know Ginyu uses this technique to steal the body of stronger fighters (obviously, otherwise why would he have even developed the technique in the first place?). We also know that the freeza force are unable to control their ki level, hence why they use scouters to determine someone's power. Goku knows how to raise and lower his energy, whereas Ginyu does not. As such, I believe since Ginyu does not hold this ability he has to use the power level the recipient usually uses in their body. eg. goku doesn't always stay at 100% power, he usually kept it lower and built up to his max. Tagoma on the other hand also doesn't know ki control, and therefore likely kept his power at max the entire time, hence why ginyu could use his body effectively.

Seriously, like with the preparations for the Saiyans for the, well, Saiyan Saga, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Krillin training regiment with Kami (along with Yajarobi) isn't cannon, but Piccolo, Gohan, and Goku's training was? I can get how that would seem unfair, but back when the Manga was the end-all be-all for the original run and Z. Such encounters never happend, while the Saiyan Saga training for Humans did happen, but it was never elaborated on to how much or whether how. Pretty much the same with the Ginyu Force thing, execpt there, it was a little too explicit. While the Anime had the humans fodderized the Ginyu force, the Manga had no such encounter. While it's safe to say that they improved with their time durring King Kai according to the Manga, to that degree that the anime show cased is left in the air. In the end it's hard to take the anime's liberties as definitive 'canon' or whatever, because you can have a situation where the anime overstepped a bit and decided to show the Yardrats, without having any offical ideas from Toriyama, then Toriyama decides on a whim to introduce his own official explaintaion or design (Yardrats in the Manga are based on his DBO designs) you may not always get the happy scenario like Toyataro had done and incorparated both Toryiama-orginal and Toei branded liberties.

I agree the Tagoma thing was wacky. However, I guess you could try to imagine a basketball player switching bodies with a sumo wrestler, and not knowing how to use it as well. If the basketball player switched bodies with another basketball player, then it would be easier to control. I think that's why Ginyu could use Tagomas body and not Gokus. If they both trained in the Freeza force, then I can only assume they have a similar way of fighting. Great video though man! I actually like that they brought back Captain Ginyu in super. I wasn't crazy about the execution, but what are ya gonna do? I think they had an idea that they didn't know how to pull off and they liked the idea enough that they were willing to stink up the joint a little to do it. I think I would've gone the route of exploring the different options of what could happen with a fusion change. You can explore the possibilities without giving a definitive answer that doesn't exist anyway. I like the idea of Captain Ginyu's soul being split in two between the two bodies and that being another possible consequence to balance out a potentially extremely strong technique. There's a lot of different directions you could go in as a writer with a half a soul in two separate bodies.

What I find interesting about Goku Black is that even though Zamasu used a different method then Ginyu, the results seems to have been the same. Zamasu seemed to have a hard time bringing out Goku's potential, at first. While he was still strong enough to overpower Trunks, he struggled in the first fight with present day Goku. After that fight, however, his body seemed to "remember," and he quickly became much more powerful. However, based on Vegeta's speech, in seems that he never fully mastered Goku's body

What you should look into was frieza vs nail fight it looks like frieza was supposed to learn different techniques but they for got it he made a note in his scouter when nail regrew his arm

I think the easiest in-continuity answer to to Ginyu switching with a fused being would be that the magic of the fusion would somehow block the body change from happening. If Ginyu did somehow switch with say Gogeta, the real question isn't what happens to Ginyu when Gogeta defuses. The real question is: what personality switches into Ginyu's old body? Do we get Gogeta's personality in Ginyu's body? What happens when Gogeta's body defuses? Do we get two Ginyus fighting in the bodies of Vegeta and Goku... fighting against Gogeta in Ginyu's old body? The whole thing becomes a mental cluster fuck and the easiest answer is "the magic of the fusion blocks the magic of body changing".

It would be possible if togoma was from Ginyus actual race and change is something they can use but are not aware of, that would explain why change worked and why he was able to use the body faster.

I think if Ginyu uses the body change on a fused person the fusion would kinda freak out and refuse to work because of ginyu

Another bit of information (albeit non cannon) is that in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in the Fu DLC storyline you can bring along mentors to help out, one of them being Ginyu, if you decide to bring him along for the Fu side part of the Goku Black arc he'll actually swap bodies with Black in his Rosé form and attempt to use it, believe it or not it actually does but he immediately gets winded and is out of the fight for the rest of the mission
