Just caught the movie last night. It was charming. But imagine if we were introduced to her in phase 1 and always knew of the neck inhibitor as a something that would protect her brain after the crash (not unlike Stark's arc reactor) but she has still been a badass for the last 6 years. Then this movie comes out, the character and the audience learn she's been lied to, the neck inhibitor comes off and she gets WAY more powerful. The twist and her new powers would have been a story beat that hit the audience SO much more powerfully.

I love the song, and while it is on the nose, I appreciated it the sentiment-- but the fact that it wasn't diegetic when they had a jukebox RIGHT THERE actively took me out of the scene. In my humble opinion, when Tim is reading the rankings, it would “read” better if he cut out “number” and just said “One. Avengers: Infinity War” with a slight pause after saying the numeral. For me, it’s too repetitive to hear “number” over and over again and it rushes the cadence. Just my two cents.

To keep thematically appropriate, the sign-off for MI:In Review should be someone (different every episode) getting an unexpected package (containing or emanating from: sunglasses, a shoe, Chad, Tim's MeUndies, Cool Greg's Sasha Banks standee, etc) that starts with... "Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." and then smash cut into the Ranking Screen and theme. Would be a nice return to the 'post-credits scene' if MCU without as much production.

I think people who say that T'challa/Black Panther wasn't very interesting in his movie kinda forget the internal struggle he went through. Finding out that the person he admired most in the world, his father, covered something terrible that he did to his own family member, and seeing the ramifications of that decision in Killmonger. Having to face that reality and standing up for his morals when he tells his father in the spirit realm that they were all wrong and that they must be better. I thought that was an incredibly powerful moment, one of the most powerful in the MCU.
@boochtron5 жыл бұрын
my problem with Black Panther is that Michael B Jordan blows chadwick away in the acting department. you see the villain be so much better, compelling and cooler than the villain. huge negative for me. even shuri and michonne from walking dead were more compelling. not good for a movie called black panther

Disclaimer: this is purely just from a turn off your brain and watch standpoint because that's all I'm really good for. Also I like Marvel movies but not enough that I wouldn't watch recaps before Infinity War because I was so far behind (which I did :/). With that out of the way, I quite liked it. It didn't have any laugh out loud moments but there were definitely some times that I smiled at a joke. I didn't find much wrong with her "lack of personality" and thought she had good chemistry with Fury and her friend. In terms of the character itself, I really liked Captain Marvel and discovering the story behind her as I had probably negative knowledge of the character before seeing this. I thought it was a fun ride and an interesting story. I'd definitely recommend it even aside from it being Marvel. Also, her once she basically unlocked all of her powers was badass!! I can see how should could be the most powerful Marvel character (although Thor took a dying star to the chest). My biggest gripe is similar to what Tim was saying about her lines just kind of being lame. Also maybe leaned a bit hard on the 90s music (ie Just a Girl during a super cool fight scene)

The movie’s Skrull “twist” is not that far off based on the comic origins of the Kree-Skrull War: “The Skrulls originate from the planet of Skrullos, and were originally a mercantile civilization, primarily interested in free trade and willing to share their technology with all races they deemed worthy. When they encountered a new race, they simply transformed themselves to resemble that race. The Skrull empire that resulted from these contacts was based on free trade and mutual cooperation. Kree-Skrull War Edit Main article: Kree-Skrull War Eventually, the Skrulls developed long-distance space travel; a great tour of the universe was undertaken, led by Emperor Dorrek. Finally, the Skrull delegation reached the planet Hala, home to the then-barbaric Kree and the peaceful Cotati, and held a contest to determine which of the races would represent Hala to the Skrull Empire. Seventeen members of each race were taken to different uninhabited planetoids where they were left with sufficient supplies for one year. At the end of that period, whichever group had done the most with themselves would be adjudged the most worthy. The Kree were taken to Earth's Moon where they built a great city while the Cotati were taken to another barren world in a different solar system and used their abilities to create a beautiful park. Realizing that the Cotati were going to win, the enraged Kree killed all the Cotati. When the Kree revealed that they had solved the question of who would represent Hala to the Skrulls by destroying their opposition, the Skrull delegates were appalled and vowed that Hala would forever be banned from their circle of favored worlds-so the Kree massacred them as well, took over the Skrull landing spaceship by force, and developed their own technology from it. Because of the immense distances involved, decades passed before the Skrulls learned of the Kree's activities. By this time it was too late. The Kree were now advanced and audacious enough to attack the Skrulls in their home galaxy. During the millennia that followed, the Kree aggression forced the Skrulls to become a militaristic civilization, and the Skrulls eventually developed the vicious streak needed to conduct intergalactic war. Their entire culture was remade in the warrior image. The Kree-Skrull War continued for thousands of years with only brief interruptions.” - per wikipedia
