Imo, CM borderline being a bad to a ok film. Captain Marvel, the main lead, severely lacks character development. She doesn't grow or change as a person, there was no inward growth. Just outward changes in terms of power. This makes it hard to connect and to be invested in her. Unlike other MCU films, Captain Marvel lacks heart. Movie doesn't give us much to who is Captain Marvel. Surprising since she is predicted to lead MCU next phase.

@Black Ninja Thor had charisma and a chip on his shoulder because he was always told he was a god, he learns to have humanity through his movies. Carol had no arc other than I'm a powerful woman and I can do anything. Even fly just by closing my eyes. That made me sigh so hard.

@Black NinjaDoubting herself was only the first half hour, when the plot moved to Earth and she found she was human she was told by Fury, Maria, Monica, and Talos that she was the savior and from that point on there were no stakes for her. She takes the chip out of her neck and poof super Saiyan, and I mention her closing her eyes because it happens in 2 seconds, and the only other sign of her flight was her being flung off the ground with her every blast. I don't doubt I missed some things but compared to what the MCU has been doing, CM seemed more paint by numbers. That's just my opinion though. However don't take my criticism as me not enjoying the movie because I did, I just find that with how massive and how much money is in the MCU I tend to be more critical.

The first time you really saw him being Captain America with his theme (when he returns with the other soldiers) gives me goosebumps, because we saw him work towards that for so long and he earned that. Captain Marvel was just as powerful in the end as in the beginning, she was just switching sides

I loved it and found a lot in her arc relatable. That being said, I wish they had released this and Ant man and the wasp the other way around. That way you could have the mid credits scene where she answers the call at the end of AMatW, right before Endgame. That gap would improve the pacing a lot and her introduction would feel much less rushed. Maybe they thought it would be more dramatic to hype first and wait until the last minute for some reason idk

I get being upset about her big fight being with the song "I'm Just A Girl," but I think that it kind of makes sense because now that Carol is totally free of her restrictions, she's unmatched in every way. Unlike Wonder Woman who was in the middle of WWI and was incredibly serious. Like, Carol is having fun now, enjoying herself and Diana just witnessed countless people suffering from war. I just really enjoyed it, I had a lot of fun, laughed a lot, and really liked Brie. Their we’re obviously some things I didn’t like (The lack of arch for carols earth life mainly), but I feel like there where some moments that we’re really cool, some cool cinematography here, some moments there (I REALLY liked the archive room scene with the lights and stuff). I literally squealed when Carol went Binary, and when I walked out of the movie feeling POWERFUL

I honestly really and truly loved the movie. Thought it was a good movie and it was different from other Marvel movies because it told a real story and had a meaning to it. Everything wasn't just fight, explosion, fight, explosion. Good pacing and even better story.
