It happened differently in the comics. Rogue went to Professor X because she was going insane from having a copy of Ms Marvel in her mind. Professor X already restored Carol Danver's memory, and she was working with the X men under the name Binary. The X-men and Carol were not pleased to see Rogue as she was formerly their enemy. A fight brakes out between Rogue and Binary, but Professor X manages to clam everyone down saying that Rogue needs a shot at redemption. Rogue retained a copy of Ms Marvel's memories until she goes through the Siege Perilous which frees her from it. Source: I read X-men when I was a teen in the 80's, and that story line was current back then.

To clarify from my limited xmen knowledge. Rogue was under the impression while young she was working for good/the government (I don't remember which). While she was indulging her dark side, she was somewhat tricked and was a MINOR. She was under 18 so was remanded to Xavier's custody, because she was very mentally ill as well. When Rogue holds on too long she actually permanently takes that person's skill/power/memory/personality. I think this is important to remember, because if they are unable to mind probe someone, Rogue can use this ability to try and get the info. She basically has multiple personalities in her head, because when she was young she would take a bit here and there from people, before she met Xavier and knew the full implication of what she was doing. Because no one has found a way to reverse Rogue's power, in the episode shown, there is no other way to but to wall off the personalities, there is no way to integrate because she just becomes that person. Even if they could integrate, Rogue would no longer be Rogue, she actually has a terrible ability, for all involved, but it is very powerful, and has been shown that Rogue does enjoy using it to become another person and leave her problems behind (like a junkie). As an aside, it has also been shown that a person Rogue has stolen away from, can regain their memories after some time, though the powers never seem to come back.

If you check out Uncanny X-men #269 by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee, the story is similar to the one in this episode, including the "skrull" Ms. Marvel. Rogue starts hallucinating Ms. Marvel, she ends up in the Savage Land, they duke it out, and Magneto sorts things out by the end. Important thing though, is Ms. Marvel is drawn in some panels to look like a walking corpse, because she and Rogue share a life essence and Rogue currently has it all. As they fight the levels of essence shift and Rogue starts looking like the corpse. I think the time she looks like a skrull in the episode is the animators trying to replicate that book.

That 90s X-Men cartoon had some very trippy direction sometimes. Very cool. Mind you, I used to smoke bongs back then. But still.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has no garbage episodes, in my opinion. How darrrrrreeee yooooouuuu!?!?!?! 😆

I'd love for them to talk about it, but I agree there is no garbage

last episode stunk. Suddenly gets all serious for the first time... ever.

@@Paulafan5 are you blind? It's gotten serious on multiple occasions across all seasons
@MattsYTHandle5 жыл бұрын
@@Paulafan5 Like Jesse said, it's gotten serious before. It's far and few between, but this is just the most recent example. It was a tad jarring because of how fast it became serious with Amy's confession. But overall they still balanced it with humor. So I thought it was quite an effective episode

It's not a Skrull, it's a callback to when Ms Marvel came back in physical form to fight Rogue for their shared life force (in Uncanny X-men) that's the kid friendly version of her decomposing being shown in the cartoon

Still better than the Marcus 198th-200th Avengers issues storyline.

In the comics, this was actually the fix for the Avenger's 200 storyline.

Snoozy Ugmo and also The Brotherhood of Ice Cream and Fun/"Friendly Force" are two of the best CoG moments ever for me, two gems in one little episode... One more I really liked that made me lol was the "Sidrex Bradchad" bit from the Pixar quiz episode. I've recently realized that while I dont have anything against James exactly, I found that I don't really enjoy his solo episodes very much and tend to skip through them, whereas Mason's humor and especially the interplay of them both seems to yield the best results.

I was very disturbed by this episode as a kid. Why are the X-Men doing such aweful things?! 😱
@stephensmith73274 жыл бұрын
Bad things tend to happen to Carol, there was a comic where she gives birth to her Rapist(long story) and is brainwashed and kidnapped by him after he becomes a adult again. Oh, and this all happened in front of the Avengers who did nothing. So naturally when she got better she moved in with the X-Men and became their pilot for a while because she temporarily lost her powers.

Im so happy u did this episode of xmen it one of the ones that sticks on my mind the most from childhood. Although, i liked it at the time, maybe because it was rogue focused, i also thought it was weird and mean to ms marvel even with my "like everything" child brain.

i liked the first episode and they used that first scene from the episode as the beginning of the Generation X tv movie , so in the beginning of that one, Jubilee is also playing video games at the mall and explodes the machine with her sparkly powers.

If I remember correctly the x men animated series brought in other marvel characters for one offs that never went anywhere. Thor, hulk, Spider-Man, captain America and nick fury among others had cameo episodes that just never really went anywhere.
@camm86425 жыл бұрын
they barely did actual xmen characters like nightcrawler,colssus,psylocke and sooooooo many others justice outside the main cast it doesn't suprise me...given xmen's enomorus roster of characters many of which never appeared I get why.
@Paulafan55 жыл бұрын
It was called: "X-Men" and since there were about 40 x-men characters, they couldn't do all the other Marvel characters. Also remember those other characters were nothing at the time (except spidey). The Avenger characters weren't popular at the time. Captain America comic was rebooted twice I think. He was boring until Civil War.
