been flyin heli's for 8 years up to a ALIGN 700... got the typhoon and i actually was INTIMIDATED... but aftrer a couple launch and alt set pulled up the gear and did a 360 cam pan... i can say i was scared for nuttin LOL this is a AMAZING hex verrrry happy i got it and lookin forward to seeing all it has to offer

I bought the G model Typhoon without the go pro camera.could not afford one, so I got a Eken knock off go pro camera, and the connector slot on the Eken camera is just a little bit different from G.P. is there a different type of connector a person can buy ?

Nice video. I tried to install the new firmware this morning and it did not go well. The ST16 part went fine but the H part some how got messed up. Gimbal went dead and could not vet any versions to show on the about screen except the camera version. The ST16 showed the correct versions. So an hour and half on phone with support and now my camera is on the way to them. They are cross shipping me a new camera/gimbal. The tried everything including the update file for a bricked H and that did not help. Not happy but things happen and I still love the Typhoon H.

So exposure and white balance are two separate things? Been watching your videos and trying to learn the camera/video settings. Saw a separate video of yours describing white balance.

That is correct. White Balance is the temperature of the colors (warm or cool). If the temperature (in Kelvin) is too warm it then will look like a "red" tint has been added to all the objects you're filming. If the temperature is too cool then it looks like a "blue" tint has been added to all the objects you're filming. The white balance on the Typhoon H tends to always go to the warmer side causing too much brown in the image. Exposure has to do with the amount of light coming into your camera. Too much light and the colors look faded. Too little light and the colors are dark and lose definition. The Typhoon adjusts for the colors much too quickly causing the image to change each time you move the camera. A quick fix is to either set the exposure to manual and/or set the Metering Mode to Center Metering.

Great video and presentation. I just picked up my H last week. Have read the manual front to back but a bit confused about two things. (1) How can one change the resolution settings on still photos? My still shots are at 2.0 MP resolution. Too low. (2) Are all the firmware updates conducted through the controller? Have to have the ST 16 on wifi and the drone on?

gegarza I'm guessing you're snapping photos in video mode (i.e., pushing the camera button while a video is being recorded). For firmware updates it is best not to use WiFi. The updates are done through the ST16 and Camera. Check my channel for a video on how to do firmware updates (step by step).... I made a new one in Oct or Nov.

Not yet. Yuneec has not added that option. If you snap photos in JPG, then compression takes over. Depending on what is in your image the file could range from less than 1 meg to perhaps 4 megs. If you snap a photo in DNG, then your photo has no compression and will be approx 20 to 24 Megs. I had a look at photos I took with a DJI Mavic Pro and the Typhoon H of the same subject and in JPG format the photos were the same size.

hey Steve, on the led marker lights,, I have the switch present on my st16 but just sitting on the ground the switch does not seem to shut or do anyting, I responds, but does it have to be in flight to shut those off and ,,,, Im not able to fly at the moment , just wondering

You can turn them on and off while on the ground when motors are not spinning.

figured it out,, seems the sd card needs to be installed for that function to work. wow thats strange, but it is what it is, I tried it several times and it only works with an SD card in the slot, which is OK, because you really wouldn't need that feature unless you were capturing something

Captain Drone pucahase typhoon h in dec 2016 have two issues updated firmware on camera did show on st16 first up then dropped of screen, 2nd issue flew H no problems video ok then camera started to spin 360 deg and will not stop any ideas

I'm not certain I understood the first part about firmware dropping off screen? As for your second problem, do you have all the switches on the top left of the ST16 in the correct position? Make certain the second switch from the left on the ST16 is all the way up. This will cause the camera to stop turning and point forward. If this does not fix your problem, then your camera may not be seated correctly on your Typhoon H (take it off and then put it back on), or you have a Firmware problem.

You should have numbers beside each item on the ST16 when you go into the ABOUT screen. If you don't have a REALSENSE module installed, then it will show N/A beside that item.

Hello Captain Drone, I am a new owner and am enjoying the H so far. I have updated the firmware to match all the current versions on the website as of 4/27/2017, but my available photo formats and photo modes are stuck at JPG and Single, respectively. That is strange. You should be able to select between JPG and DNG in camera mode. What do you see on your camera options screen?

Does Yuneec provide any proprietary post editing software? Also little bit of a novice in this area but how are panoramas "stitched" together?

Unfortunately Yuneec does not provide such software. If you have a MAC, iPhone or iPAD you can download any number of apps that will stitch panoramic photographs together. If you have a PC, then you can use most camera graphic programs to do it, such as any version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as an example or Microsoft's ICE program (that one is free). All of these software programs will take your images and look for the portions where each image overlaps the other, then the program places the images together and adds any correction necessary to make the image look like one massive photo.

The Typhoon H is one of a kind! Very fun to fly, but you do need some nice wide open space.

I read somewhere for NFZ we still allow to take off at very limited altitude, is that correct?

That is true for DJI products but I don't believe it applies to Yuneec. My experience with the H in a NFZ has been that I get a message on my controller saying I'm in a NFZ and if I try and start my motors they won't start. As soon as you move away from the NFC, everything works again.

You can download any FREE software that does stitching. On the MAC (which I use) there are many on the App Store, but I pretty much just use an old version of Photoshop Elements. On the PC, I have heard the Microsoft's ICE is very popular (and free).

When I went to view the downloaded file, the resolution was good, but the video was skipping really bad. Any idea how I can fix this? I would suggest that you try a different SD card or try a different computer or try and import the video into a video editor such as iMOVIE and see if the imported video plays smooth. The video should not skip, should be smooth.

Yuneec does not supply the software for stitching the images. You can use many of the FREE programs, one of which is Microsoft ICE which does an outstanding job.

I can't say if anything specific to my incident has been fixed. For myself as a hobbiest using drones for photography, I always keep the fly-away thought in the back of my mind. Drones containing a GPS & Compass, no matter what make or model, have the potential to get confused now and then. Also there is no realsense module on my Typhoon H. Still debating if I wish to add it or not.

CAPTAIN DRONE, Yeah I agree totally. Ok thank you for these videos. I realize that the RealSense module isn't that important especially if you aren't flying in confined spaces. one of the things that I wanted to see is if the RealSense would help the RTH and avoid obsticles upon return! That would be great! There is one video a guy from Germany did that actually shows the H with RealSense sense that there is a chain link goal from a soccer field and it actually avoids it. That was in Watch Me mode. It apparently can senses wires and leaves. The other thing is that it adds the downward facing camera and sonar for stability if there is no GPS. This could be useful indoors, in warehouses and also to just give a other measure of stability. And apparently they added a third antenna to the ST16 and a longer, better positioned antenna on the H. So apparently the range is better in reliability and distance. But that is all with the new releases not necessarily because of the RealSense. Thank you again for your videos and this one in particular because Yuneec doesn't Dona good job advertising new firmware features.

Airwolf apparently the new firmware addresses issues in the previous version that caused flyaways. My Yuneec rep told me that when I phoned them to ask how my repairs were going 🤔 It looks like Yuneec has come to the party and will cover repairs under warranty, but it's a big deal to admit that the firmware caused the flyaways, especially if someone or something other than the H got damaged in the process...

Filmed on my Yuneec Typhoon H 4K drone to a micro 64gb card. Every LAST film file is unable to open stating that a error has occurred and unable to read this format. Out of 10-13 files, the last file always doesn't play, yet will play on the controller review system Any suggestions

Only suggestion is to ensure you STOP recording before you power off the Typhoon H. The only time files are known to become corrupt for viewing on a computer is when the Typhoon H is powered off while still recording. Other than that, I have no idea.

Always enjoy your videos, thank you for work and time. Would you recommend moving forward with keeping a purchase from Amazon of the Yuneec Typhoon H Pro with Intel Sense for US $685 that is like new but sold as used since it was returned. It’s in perfect shape and have flown it a couple times. This drone is somewhat aged now and with the release of new drone(s) by DJI around the corner I’m not sure I should wait to see what DJI is bringing to the table. I already have a Mavic Pro and Spark from DJI and was thinking the Typhoon H Pro would be a nice addition. The 360 camera with folding landing gear, 6 motors is a nice addition to my drone collection tools. However the lack of good telemetry data about your battery status and when you should return home concerns me. (DJI spoiled me) My first flight all of a sudden I got a red battery icon warming me that the battery is critically low to land immediately. The drone was very close to me so I wanted to land it but I had the Smart Mode on I think and when I pulled down the left joystick it flew away further for me instead of my intended going down to land. Got the drone down safe but it was a bit hairy since I was heading towards trees. Once my learning curve is over I should do much better with controlling the Typhoon H Pro. To keep this bad boy or not is the question:-) The Pro Version included Intel Sense, their case and a total of 2 batteries w/ single charging station.

Sounds like a great price for what you are getting. The only thing I would suggest is that you dump all the info in your brain about DJI before you fly the Typhoon H. It is a very different beast and works extremely well if you fly it not like a DJI drone. You could buy another drone from DJI but it would be a drone that has pretty much everything you are used to using. When DJI launches the new Mavic Pro it will be at minimum $1149 for a base model. If they launch a new Spark they have to keep it around the $499 mark.

Regarding photos on the ST-16, well it is ANDROID and all software on the ST16 is an ANDROID program so my guess would be to just hold your finger on a photo to select it and then an option should then be available to delete (either the word DELETE or a TRASHCAN or an X)... all of this could be located in one of the screen corners under some other word or a series of dots.

The are stills (photos) taken in Camera Mode. The Burst, Time Lapse, Panoramic are for photos while in Camera Mode (still photos).

Thank you. If you wish to live feed you need an internet or cell service connection. I believe (I could be wrong) that Yuneec has an App to allow other people to view what is on the ST16 screen (I think it's available on Android & possibly IOS). You would then have to have some other App on your phone that would live stream to Facebook, KZbin via Internet or cell service and take the feed from your screen. I'm not sure if anyone has ever done it. DJI has it built into their DJI GO software which is one reason they don't provide a tablet with their drones (they like the user to use a device that can use cell service, if possible, for extra features such as this).

It depends on how you are using your Typhoon. If you fly in an area where there are not many obstructions and you need to fly further than you'll see benefit from the upgrade. However, if the location you are flying has buildings, hills, many trees, etc around, then you may not see too much of an increase.

The video signal to the Yuneec ST16 controller is perfectly fine for flying (it's very fast). If you're new to drones, find someone near you and get the same drone as them so they can teach you the basics. For a beginner, any of the DJI or Yuneec drones are fine because they are very easy to fly.

I have found that in AUTO mode the Phantom 4 Pro or the Mavic Pro will take a better video and photo than the Typhoon H. You have to manually set the camera settings on the Typhoon H for it to take a great photo or video (white balance and exposure are what needs to be set).
