What I find interesting is that this RC helicopter does directly include, or support, cameras. Speculating, I would guess that most RC hobbyists want to video record their flights without creating their own video attachments solutions (cameras, batteries, tape, glue, etc) that is not part of the original design. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

Wow, this is incredible! I've always wanted to try FPV flying, and this video makes it seem so accessible. The Huey V4 looks like a great option for beginners, and the FPV setup is really impressive. I especially love the idea of using the autonomous mode to do tricks and maneuvers. I'm definitely going to check out more of your videos to learn more about FPV flying and drones in general.

Ever since I started flying helis, which isn't that long ago, I always wanted to fly FPV, so to that end, I got the cheapest lightest AIO camera, and the cheapest analogue goggles and zip tied the camera to a Eachine E129, and flew the thing around my flat. It worked out OK, I can't use the FPV receiver as goggles, because of my eyesight, so I just use it as a monitor, and the E129 is the cheapest of cheap 4Ch heli, so it takes a while to get it trimmed before I can start flying FPV. I've managed to fly it from the living room to my bedroom and back a couple of times, but it's not the most accurate and tends to crash when trying to move from one room to the next thru the door frame. It's nice to fly thou, as you don't need to think about orientation.

You almost need to get someone to 3D print a box of some sort that will hold your fpv camera, antenna and battery and affix as one unit to the bottom of the heli under the rotor. Self contained, transferable to different vehicles, close to c.o.g.

I have an OMP Hobby M2 with an FPV setup. I use an inexpensive analog system with a flat panel screen. Therefore, I'm flying 'normally' basically all the time but I can cheat and look at the screen. I can and do record the flights just in case something interesting happens or I can delete the video. If I do get goggles, it will be so that my kids or grandchildren and take a virtual ride with me. Pitch and roll control is easy with FPV. Using the collective to get good vertical control on the FPV is really hard.

@CAPTAINDRONE7983 ай бұрын
I switched to alien tape because it absorbs shocks (it is thick & like a gel) and easily peels off if you roll it.

I noticed on your huey you don't have the little plastic pieces that go from the blade to rotor hub. Do you feel like it flys better without them? Great video by the way, like always!
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 ай бұрын
Correct. Those little 3d printed parts cause the drone to vibrate. They are just there to stop newbies from putting the blades on upside down… they are not needed.
@thatsmyrc3 ай бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798I I also wondered that as I didn’t want to put mine on but did to follow the rules. As my other smaller helis don’t have them. Also noticed that the blades are extremely snug when trying to install on head. So i actually opened the ends a smudged to get the blades not so tight in place. But since first test flight went wrong with the death wobbles w/ rods. Second test flight I had to use a set of blades for the four blade version. As that’s all I had left and that was left over spare parts from a heli that I was never shipped which I had to cancel 🤷🏻♂️
@thatsmyrc3 ай бұрын
Didn’t use rods round two as those blades weren’t made for a two blade head. Yet it did fly wouldn’t say a healthy flight more of a bottom pucker land her asap 🥴

Hi Steve, new subscriber here! I just received my v4 Huey and I’m excited to get it in the air! Question, there’s a little bag of accessories including the flybar looking piece. How and where do they all get attached? Great channel!!
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 ай бұрын
Those are 3D printed parts that you can glue onto the fuselage & paint if desired. Also, I'm not sure if the parts for the blades come in the same bag. You have the option of attaching the parts to the blades and top rotor or leaving them off. If you get vibrations in your heli it would be due to this. If you rewatch this video where I zoom into the top of the heli, you'll see I did not install any of them.
@paulleniger35753 ай бұрын
Ahh, thanks! I do remember now from I think, Motion RC’s video on it. I think I’ll leave them off too. Thanks!!!

Hi, Does this olive green version 4 of the Huey also have the vibration that the white V4 had? the one that was evident in the landing of the last video?
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 ай бұрын
I think I'll have to make a video to explain what causes vibration and the simple fix because I find many are confused on this subject. So in short, have a look at this video again and you'll see that I have detached the 3D printed holders on the blades of the heli. If you leave them in place, then vibrations occur because they are for show. On the White Heli, I left them in place, hence the vibrations, but on this green heli I removed them.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you very much for the explanation, it is clear to me. I want to buy the new olive green V4.

DJI supports a small number of their mini camera drones to use their DJI FPV goggles. All you do is go on the DJI STORE, find some FPV GOGGLES and then scroll down and read their compatibility.

It's pretty cool. Is that the frame rate that makes the FPV cam and your hand held make the blades look so slow but the action camera on the tail didn't do it. I'm not to hip on cameras but the frame rate came to mind. I was going to get the Apache but the Huey looks bigger and seems to come with all of the same features except LiDAR. What one do you like better Steve?
@CAPTAINDRONE7983 ай бұрын
Yup, just different refresh rates of the cameras. I like the Large Huey because size looks cool in flight, however you need more space to fly. The Apache requires much less space and is not as scary in flight.
