It's unfortunate people still believe you have to choose between quality or quantity. As long as you stay consistent and put in the work over years, naturally the quality improves without you having to slow down the quantity. At least that's what I've found.

I also found this to be true for creating music: with each track I pick up some new skill/trick that in return makes the tracks after that even higher in quality!

Isn't one of the goals of being consistent is about finding the sweet spot between quality and quantity, that in turn, boosts consistency?

@@mrspo7012 Part of learning to work consistently is learning how to manage our workload for sustainability. As we push through new challenges, we need to take time to rest and relax and recharge, and as we do so, our stamina goes up as does our skill level. Eventually, what would have caused us to burn out a few months ago is no longer overwhelming. As long as we maintain awareness of our internal states and adjust as we are starting new routines to get things done while not jeopardizing our well-being, the risk of reaching a point of exhaustion that sets us back a long time vastly diminishes.

Cap, my feed's literally filled with your videos now, both old and new. The recent videos are quality, we all know that, but the old videos are like hidden gold. So much clarity and wisdom. Its amazing that how impactful your videos have been to me in the last few weeks. The interview with your father was I think one of your best recent videos, like I can relate to him about the fact that how competitive it is here in India in terms of entrance exams, and how frustrating it becomes when you drop a year to try for a second time. I am in fact in this exact situation, exams are like one month away and it felt great to listen to the conversation. The last part teared me up as well. Keep going bhaiya! Amazing video as usual. Cheers!

I agree with all the points you have discussed. But I felt the one thing that was the difference between me being consistent and non consistent is my mind. If I do something I know is worthwhile before my mind could catch up and think, I eventually do it all the way till the end. For example, I know that a cold shower is good for health. So I enter the shower before my mind can talk me out of it or even pause my actions. That's how I was able to make a lot of positive changes, that too very quickly and consistently.

I read Atomic Habits after you recommended it, and it gave such a different perspective as to why and how we can break bad habits. It’s speaks a bit about the compounding affect in which being 1% better or 0.01 better every day (1.01^365 ) = 37.78 which is phenomenal. Just being 1 percent better each day can have such an phenomenal effect over the course of a little as a year.

I'm 20, working a door to door sales job, and it's definitely been a struggle. Literally 3 days ago, I asked myself what I need to change to improve not just my sales numbers, but also forming better habits in general, and "consistency" was what I came up with. Now this video only proves what I was thinking and is a huge help so THANK YOU!!

I think this is a brilliant point mentioned in Atomic Habits. Your point on consistency at the end reminded me of what James Clear said in Atomic Habits: A kettle boils water. At 70 degrees, nothing. At 80 degrees, nothing. At 90, nothing. At 95, nothing. At 96,7,8,9, you are very close. And finally at 100, the kettle has boiled the water. Was it a waste of time for the kettle to get to 70,80,90? No. Your efforts are not wasted. They are stored.

Thank you Nikhil. Your experiences and problems are universal. I love it when you tell us about your struggles and show us how you’ve overcome and are overcoming them. I was wondering if you were getting caught in the quantity / productivity vs. too high quality trap when, in a video a little while ago, you kind of offhandedly mentioned how depressing it could be during the editing step. Your constant self awareness and self monitoring of your progress is inspiring. And how you overcome your struggles is hugely useful / educational.

Dope insights! 5 other insights I learned about consistency are: 1. quantity leads to quality if lessons are being learned. They both create synergy. 2. try the Seinfeld Chain Strategy. When you buy a big calendar with all the months on one page & mark an X with a big red sharpie when you do your task. As the chain forms over time, it's hard to not be consistent. 3. try to describe your most important tasks in words, rather than sentences. This pierces the tasks into the subconscious (Ex: Consume, create, market, meditate). 4. Have a consistency buddy (similar concept to gym buddy). 5. Do your tasks before you allow yourself to check the phone in the morning.

Your channel is one of the best on KZbin. Lastly, if you want to increase your bench press try push-ups on gymnastics rings that are lowered almost all the way to the floor. As well as flies on rings. Personally I think bench press is a terrible exercise for the shoulder joint and causes a lot of injuries as people max out. Mainly from lifting off the bar after you start putting up more and more weight. Not from the list itself. Rings are way better and will make your joints as strong as your muscles.

Great video. Really appreciate the insight. The one thing I would disagree with is the non-existence of toxic hustling. I think exerting a lot of effort for anything is toxic if the thing you're doing is not true to your innermost goals and desires. Someone else could be doing all of these things for filmmaking and it could feel toxic if that's not truly what they want, because the fulfillment they get out of it does not equal the work they put in, so rather than a symbiotic relationship between work and fulfillment, they get depleted. So figuring out what goals are truly your heart's is important too

I’ve learned that it’s a lot better to work too much then not work enough. I understand how hustle culture can become toxic in some people’s opinion but I’ve experienced both ends of the spectrum and I can say that dealing with the stress and burnout of working too much is A LOT more manageable than dealing with the existential dread and depression that come with not doing enough.
