UPDATE: 5:40pm from Window To Wildlife: Update for the evening: Lift will be easier to secure tomorrow. Federal holiday made finding a lift hard. We have all other permissions and plans in place. Low chance of injury for the night. SED. Update from Window To Wildlife: Still working on getting a bucket truck. It is tough with the federal holiday. Not sure if fire department has a ladder truck big enough. Waiting on more details.

Nasty looking stuff - I imagine bald eagles are more prone to nest fouling from fishing line/monofilament too. Good luck to the poor soul who has to trespass on the nest!

@Ladyhawk I really wish the communities would appreciate their area and not liter OR use things that is danger to wildlife. I just looked into Eagle Tower the Wetlands' nest because they have eggs, and it looks like a very large party ballon was brought to the nest. It's lying directly at the nest. My own Granddaughters play outside with silly string, and I tell them constantly to pick it all up when they are done so the birds or another animal won't get it

Hi Michelle oh that is terrible to see plastic balloons on any nest - very dangerous for our wildlife. We have to continue to educate the public on what they may seem as harmless fun (balloons for that party) will end up being ingested and cause an obstruction causing the bird/animal to starve to death, it's string can entangle young birds trapping them in their nest & causing death, and even causing adults to become entangled in it as well. They do need to pick up their party trash and be responsible - it would be so much better to not have it in the first place. I am thankful at Captiva that we have nest and cam owners who are passionate about the safety of the eagles and are going to remove this electrical sting tomorrow. ♥

Is "electrical string" the same thing as electrical wire? I've never heard of electrical string before... This is what WTW said : " Connie brought in what looked to be a plastic rope/line used to pull electrical lines through the conduit. The rope is not causing any immediate danger, but it could potentially be a big issue" So yes it is very dangerous and could entangle an eaglets legs and/or neck or body so that is why they moved so FAST to remove it!
