Great work … just came back from a wild breakdance session with 20 odd battles. created in all 13.500 images … culled them in 2 days exporting 6000 images in 4 hours replicating the file order of the managed raw files.The folders will be loaded up to smugmug in turn creating the same folders I created when culling the images. My workflow got better and better from your intense teaching of C1. Never cease to learn new things about C1 with you. I started using C1 from version 7.

This is great! Helped me understand how to declutter all of my sessions and store them correctly. Not ideal to have to go back and reorganize but this tutorial made it easy to fix my mistakes. I feel I'm finally understanding the purpose for sessions. It will take practice to fully realize the potential of catalogues/sessions but tutorials like these straight from the company help SO much, especially with the livestream questions and the super in-depth feature run downs that David gives. Thanks for the great videos! Looking forward to watching the others on the channel.

This is great! Where are the naming conventions in the import dialogue stored? I’m on a PC and I can’t find them in the app data Capture One folder. I keep losing them!

I'm used to the Lightroom way of doing things where everything is in one big catalog, but I'm starting to think sessions actually fit my usual workflow better. I haven't tried them yet, but I could probably ditch the catalog entirely and work only from sessions since that's how I shoot. I normally do portrait sessions for specific people, or do workshops or whatever. It would make sense to just have a single session for each shoot.

Really helpful, thank you. I have a question regarding the Process recipe... I have version 14.3.1 and for the life of me, I cannot find the process recipe tool. In my toolbar doesn't have cog (process recipe symbol) and it's not there when I got to add tools or tool tab either. I need to get to File window in the process recipe, to change the subfolder but cannot find it!!! Any idea where it's gone from the previous update?

Hi Mike, The exporter changed since this older live broadcast. If you want to add the export tools within Capture One, right click anywhere in the tool tabs area and add the export tool tab.

Thank you David. Very helpful for ultra beginners. Question: I have looked all over KZbin about how to only import RAW files, but can't find the answer. I just got back from a trip and have about 4.5K pics of the ocean. I don't want to import all of the jpgs and raw files... How do I import ONLY the RAW? And what do you suggest I do with the jpgs?
@CaptureOne Жыл бұрын
Hi Victoria. In the "View" menu look under Global Filters. You can hide certain file types. This will also have an effect on the import viewer.

Working with sessions: where do you store all the versions of images that were manipulated with software outside of C1? When I am done with C1 I usually go to Photoshop, Topaz, Retouching Software and many many more and create a lot of versions of the same image, often 10 or twenty. I could copy them to an OUTPUT subfolder called "EDITS" or so. But will they be recognized by C1, will I have to import them? Will C1 "adjust" them? How do you deal with this?

Great video, how can one search keyword over multiple sessions since Media Pro has dissapeared ? should one import also in catalog to resolve this ?
@CaptureOne3 жыл бұрын
Frederic, the search is available for one session/catalog at a time.

Very helpful video! Thanks! I've got a problem now: I need to format my PC and then I just want to know how to restore the very same sessions (with all photos and modifications) which I've created so far and backed up in an external drive. Can you please tell me how to do? Thanks a lot! Antonio

Capture One stores your settings data in sub folders in the session folder. So, if you use sessions based workflow, there is nothing you need to do “restore” the sessions. Simply copy your backups to the PC and open them in Capture One as needed.

If you move the folders and/ or subfolders (to other destination) from where you imported images from, does it changes anything sessionwise? Also does moving capture, select, output or trash folder from a specific session to other destination update the session export path?
@CaptureOne2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shalin. You can move around those folders as you mention. But for integrity, I would do it from the library tool in Capture One.

Thank you David, but i have a question. Why can't I see the images in the output folder of C1 after exporting them? I can in Windows Explorer. LG Armin
@24flocki3 жыл бұрын
In another session tutorial you presented the solution. Manually create a session folder. LG Armin

But if you edit a session from the session itself, will it then be reflected in the Session Archive of the catalog, or will you then have to import the session into the catalog again?
@CaptureOne3 жыл бұрын
This newly edited session should be re-imported for the changes to take effect.
@bioliv13 жыл бұрын
@@CaptureOne Ok, hope you make it easier in a future upgrade, so that the edits will be reflected automatically.

Does anyone have any good tips for handling JPGs and RAWs in sessions?? Do you just only add the raw files and edit them? Or do you cull both?
@CaptureOne3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Could you elaborate on your use case?
@austriker3 жыл бұрын
@@CaptureOne Yeah definitely! I mean when I do a photoshoot, Ive got raw and jpg files. Do people often just only edit the RAWs? Do they only import the raws? Or do they import both and hide the jpgs? And if I cull through the photos and delete a bunch, do I cull through both the JPG and RAW files even though they are the same image? Hope this helps!
@CaptureOne3 жыл бұрын
Currently, there's no way to pair JPEG and RAW files so that they can be culled simultaneously. However, you may want to set a Global Filter under View tab as 'Always hide JPG', so that you don't see them on import.
