Hi everyone, today I'm sharing with you my morning at Crema Cafe in West Vancouver. I sketched my cup of latte and almond croissant, and the interior of the cafe with some people. Then I moved on to downtown Vancouver and did two mini sketches at the Public Library. Please watch the video until the end to learn lots of ink and watercolor inspirations and techniques to sketch and paint interior of a cafe, and how to sketch people. 😊🎨
🎨 Materials I used:
- Uni-Pin 0.8mm Drawing Pen
- Etchr watercolors (24 half pans)
- Arteza Watercolor Sketchbook
- Holbein Water Brush (large tip)
- Sakura Water Brush (medium tip)
Every day is a good day to make art. We don't need fancy subjects, but we need to pay attention to the beauty in the mundane.

This is so great!! I love how you remind us to just get the big shapes first and to not worry about perfection or getting caught up in detail. I get messed up with perspective a lot, at trying to make say the plate perfectly ... my eyes and brain seem to fight about how to show it. You make it look so easy. Also, so brave to draw out in public, but you're an amazing artist so anyone that looked would be super impressed.....not so with me😳 so I get very embarrassed drawing in public, like this type of setting, as much as I'd like to. I guess I feel like if I'm drawing out in public I must be good, but if someone were to walk by and see that I am not that great I'd feel so dumb like who do I think I am🙄 but, I'm working on it🤷🏼‍♀️ because I love the idea of having little sketches of places I'm at, even when its nothing special..like my husband and I had a break in work so sat in the car to eat while in a parking lot and across the road was a cool rock face popping out of the forrest and below train tracks, so did a quick ink sketch..nothing amazing, but fun to have..so I just have to get more comfortable and remember that I know I'm just practicing and don't think I'm anything great so if someone else thinks it's dumb, thats on them. Just a confidence issue I have to work on in every aspect of my life. But this is fun inspiration and once I heal from my surgery I'll hopefully be able to get back at it. Until then I appreciate these videos to stay inspired and enjoy watching, listening and learning from your videos :) I look forward to looking through your other videos :) Thanks so much for sharing, jade

@@BeckyCao oh gosh thanks😳sorry for the babbling 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I agree, finding a way to do something, anything positive and creative, whatever that means for each of us, photography, draw, paint, cook, garden...so many things...just try to do that as often as we can, which will of course be different for all of us as well. I hope to do these things I'm passionate about as I heal from this awful surgery...but to also work on not letting myself guilt myself out of taking even just a few minutes to draw or paint or bake or take pics because there are of course always a million things that "should" get done...but its not others telling me to out off my art, quite the opposite. I do it to myself, but that's absolutely what I'll be working on if I get through this thing, because it's so important :) Thank you again for your beautiful art and beautiful kindness for sharing so much!! :) Sorry, babbled again...🤦🏼‍♀️😁

Thanks Becky. Just in bed today, having a lazy day, while it is non stop raining here. Very unusual weather here in Sydney with La Nina'. Lots of floods. My partner went to a cafe today, to see his friend, and got a little lost, rang me and was stressed. Thanks for going and having a latte and croissant for me on my behalf! I think the drawing doesn't have to be accurate, even badly drawn things with a splash of colour, the eye is tricked in urban sketching to recognize what each bit is, as the colour and shade makes sense of the line. Your work is beautiful and makes sense. I may give urban sketching a go.... In kindred spirit, Eliza Dulwich Hill, Sydney Australia xx

@@BeckyCao thank you for your input, your sense of detail is extraordinary. What I love about your style is the very essence of what I want to leave behind to my family after I am gone is leaving a piece of me and my heart for future generations. You see when I was a child my Mother painted in oils a few painting and I have nothing of her love for painting, oh what I would give to have one of those paintings…therefore my love of watercolor which I am not good at but , trying to leave a piece of me to my family.
