I loved this video and always gleam so much from Dan's wisdom. The only thing I'll say is -- I wish this video was much longer. I could listen to you two converse for hours!! Thanks for the great info always!

For 33 years I've dealt with family and friends telling me to leave the backpack at home. Its finally been downsized to a reproduction German Soldier's shoulder/bread bag. 9 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" enough to fit camera and GoPro and everything else I would need to keep me shooting indefinitely.

Keep the equipment simple. Take good notes. Keep the end goal in sight. Be open to the spontaneous. Do your research!

Using only one camera and one lens in the field is a target I am aiming for. Most of the time I am carrying too much gear on my trekking trips and have to carry it all over the mountains. I startet packing less gear on my last trip at Iceland (6kg instead of 8 - without tripod), but it still was too much. On my next trip I northern Sweden I am planing to bring only one digital and one analog Leica with a 35 and a 50 mm. You two are very inspirational to me. Thanks for the video

Excellent points. I have been thinking about narrowing down my lens collection and this gave me a boost. Thanks.

Very good video!!! As for lenses it all depends what one is shooting. But one fixed focal length lens one camera makes sense....

I LOVE taking out my 50mm and using nothing but that. On a trip to Cabo San Lucas, that is the only lens I used for the whole trip, and got some of my most favorite travel photographs ever! But, I just did a 7 day long shoot, 10 hours a day....lots of kids, lots of action, indoors, outdoors, bright sun, and there is no way I could have captured what I needed to without multiple lenses. I only used 2 lenses, though, but they were zoom lenses: a 24-105 on a full frame camera, and a 70-200 on a crop frame camera, sometimes with a 1.4x converter, so effectively 24mm - 448mm, and I used every bit of those lenses. I think the assignment sometimes dictates the gear. There were many situations that week where I needed to get close up shots of people in the distance, and "zooming with my feet" wasn't an option, like close up shots of people on paddle boards in the middle of a lake. The 50mm, although a great lens, would have been useless in that situation. I would like to hear a more in-depth discussion about this from AYP. I REALLY wish I could only use my 50mm, but I really don't see how it could be possible for what I do. Thanks for posting such great content! Please, both of you, keep it coming!

The key is being able to capture your images taht you have visualized -- lenses are tools to accomplish this so whatever tools help you to do this are the right ones!

I totally agree! Even though I REALLY wish it were possible, I don't feel that one lens can fulfill every situation. When I previsualize the compression that a long telephoto can do, the wider angle lenses can never get the same perspective.

Daniel, is that a 50mm full frame equivalent that you used, 1 lens, 1 body? Or a 50 on the Fuji… ~75mm equiv.?

10? Really? Don't think it will take that long now. 10 years seem of a exaggeration.
