Congratulations for this capture. Very impressive. I follow your Channel. Your videos are very intresseting. The interesting things, you help me to my choice when I loocking for a New mount! ... .when I Saw your Planewave system videos. So I bought a Planewave L 350 a few weeks ago. Should be, I tried my new mount before this next summer. Hope I enjoy it! Happy new year, and all the best for this new year. Take Care. Benoît, France

Thanks for watching Benoit, hope you enjoy the L-350. That is a fun mount to use and will give you some impressive performance.

It is amazing to see it. I captured it on the 1st Jan using an 11" RASA (620mm fl), hope all goes smoothly for the scope and the JWST team as they configure and test over the coming weeks!

Loved it Matt! Thanks for sharing.. Is this one of the rigs you installed last month?

Thanks! This is the CDK600 I installed back in March. I switched imaging trains on it in November to put a Optec Sagitta and bigger OAG camera on it.

Nice capture! It is fairly easy to image, I got it with 350mm redcat the other day with 60s exposure and cranked up gain. But amazing feeling knowing its JWT :)

Glad you caught it. Proving that it is flying through space makes it a fun project doesn't it =)

Crossing fingers secondary mirror will deploy correctly! If Hubble was a revelation in modern astronomy, James Webb will be a revolution! Great video Matt.

That is a great question, I am assuming the boosters would no longer be on the same trajectory as the JWST.

Man, I tried so hard to get JWST on my scope, but I guess my seeing wasn't good enough. Of course only having 510mm of focal length on an ED80 doesn't help either...
@MattDieterich
@MattDieterich 3 жыл бұрын
Ya could be the focal length and needing longer exposures and duration of shooting to see it move. The CDK600 has a 4m focal length, so doesn't take much to see the movement thankfully.

Captured it lastnight reasonably easy on my 8" f4 newtonian. Its small but easily seen against the stationary background stars.

80mm aperture is plenty. Try a 2-3 min exposure. You can get up to date coordinates from JPL SSD Horizon system
