I became a Catholic about a year ago and now feel that God is calling me to be a Franciscan. I need more time to grow in my faith and develop a prayer life, but please pray for me and my discernment. God bless you all!

Recalling my past experience at a retreat when we had Eucharistic Celebration everyday. There was one priest who stood out ..just consumed my spirit with holiness, love and joy. Later on I asked which order was he from and he said "Capuchin". No wonder then... look at the life of them in this video. They have time to meditate on God everyday and they bring heaven to us. Praise God. Thanks for the video.

About 30 years ago, I was working for The Visiting Nurses in Santa Ynez and was assigned an elderly patient here. I only made two or three visits before he passed away, but I remember Brother Joe greeting me each time I arrived. He was so joyful and welcoming, that I have never forgotten him. When I stumbled upon this video and then went to the website and read that he is still at San Lorenzo, I was really delighted.

This short brings back old memories when for a short while I lived at Marytown in Kenosha Wis now IL. I was considering becoming a Franciscan priest (Conv.). The friars were wonderful men, the food was great and plentiful in short I greatly enjoyed my stay there. Only one thing made me leave...girls! I love 'em. I left got married and eventually became a lay missionary with said order. My wife and I've been married for 30 years and we have a lot of kids and grandkids all of whom are good people. I don't think my wife and I did too badly. She was once considering becoming a nun. GOD bless and peace and all good things...

@@reloadedman3309 That's your opinion. Fyi, this is the noviciate year where they spend the year living the spiritual life. After this they will go out to do other things working with people, studying, parish work etc. They wouldn't do it if it wasn't fulfilling.

Being a missionary is a great responsibility! The missionary must have great energy, fortitude, and courage. Wherever the missionary goes, no matter what part of the world he or she is in, he or she must spread the Word. Locals must understand what the missionary is telling them. The missionary must get the Word right! Therefore, every missionary must know the language of the local people! To everyone who is going on a mission or preparing for one, I would like to recommend a very good workshop by Yury Ivantsiv Polyglot Notes: Practical Tips for Learning Foreign Language. This wonderful book will give you answers how to properly learn a foreign language with a minimum of your time and effort. This book gives answers to many of the questions that everyone faces when learning a language. I wish you good luck in your important work!

It's quite a sight and experience if one steps into a church or chapel with the choir seating. These days we only see either facing forward to the altar or around it. But, facing each other to the left and right sides of the altar is mainly for thus kind of religious setting---don't know how to describe the experience--for prayers and eucharistic mass.
