I refuse to read negative comments on raising monkey's but I want to have my say. I've said this on other monkey UT's. When these wonderful creature's have a human family that truly loves them (and yes most do obviously) just think of what their life is like. They will never know the fear of daily survival living in their natural habitat. They can play and have fun instead of foraging for food all day and as we seem to think it's okay to take their natural habitat from them and they come closer to humans and then everyone is all up in arms, just think of how ignorant that is. I live in a place where everyone thinks it's okay to slaughter buffalo when they wander out of Yellowstone Park. It enrages me. We are the one's encroaching on THEIR LAND not the other way around and that's all I will bore you with on that. As we look at Monkey Boo it is obvious he is happy and he is not lonesome without another primate but he enjoys their company when he can. Yup, I'd give anything to have my own baby monkey, not likely to happen but I will fight for anyone who does have one and does love them and treats them right. Little Monkey Boo is happy, healthy and very much loved. I mean what other recently single guy cooks a Thanksgiving meal for their animal, (besides my hubby) and Pete. Little Monkey Boo is luckier then he will ever know. Thank you.

I know you would rather he not damage the house plants, but shouldn't there be plants, trees, nature he can touch and smell and explore? He is as well cared for as you would be in captivity. We don't have anything against you teaching Boo the difference, but at least fulfill his natural desire for natural things and not just plastic packaging and plastic, synthetic playthings. I, for one, would love to see Boo romp in a natural enclosure of other capuchins with living plants and trees without a leash, diaper and any no-no's. I can see how much you love him and want to fulfill the monkey in him. I look forward to a video of that!

i was most likely working and was educated on the species well before getting a monkey even crossed your mind... i know most people have useless opinions based on stupid crap they hear.. or see... like morons who actually think that the pet primate trade will end if no one buys them... those idiots crack me up ... chances are if you DIDNT adopt boo... he would be in a lab... being tossed around drugged and then killed.... and thats the truth... and the same people who say they will all attack..are the same ones who say all pits will attack... it goes hand in hand... but removing the canines really does nothing more but protect yourself from a bite.. there is actually no beneft at all to the monkey.. learning how to re eat and use its other teeth for nuts and stuff like that may not seem like a huge deal... but if for some reason boo ever got out.... or managed to hop out the door and run... he would never survive.. especially if you live in an area with preditors... like wolves... coyotes... etc..

I'm not sure if I am applying this correctly, but I saw a documentary where it explained the process of a monkey becoming an alpha male (superior over other male monkeys in his group) and it mentioned that with maturity they will get into power struggles with the other males. Perhaps their having neutered Boo is saving Pete from an actual fight during a disagreement over what Boo may or may not do, since it looked like the conflict involving a fight was normal with these adult males when kept as pets as fully flexed adults.. although I do think that Boo is still an adolescent at 6 yrs old.

This is actually an interesting and pertinent question. Capuchins in the wild cover themselves with their urine, apparently for reasons of sexual attraction. Since this is an instinctive action, I am guessing Boo might also do this, even though he probably doesn't have access to females as he would in the wild. Only Moss knows for sure. Maybe that's why he bathes him a lot. I understand the smell is pretty powerful. Maybe he will respond to this, and hopefully won't take offense to a harmless question.
