Data analytics has been profitable because of data sharing since the early days of AOL IM, Yahoo Mail, MySpace, Xanga, FB beta, eBay/PayPal, and every other internet service that has ever required the input of personal information. I remember websites as recently as 2019 selling services to "scrub" your information from the internet, and I don't know if they were even aware of data scraping at that point. The internet is the equivalent of publishing a widely sold book: should the author decide they no longer want it in circulation they can destroy as many copies as they like, pay people in different areas of the world to do the same, but there will forever be copies in circulation, and its legal copyright records will always exist. But...for people who've been innocently usinf BT connectivity, Apple/Android Carplay, and the standard USB charging ports in cars not realizing all the associated data mining, I hope they gain peace of mind with the service you're offering.

IMO the only good thing to come out of the covid years was: the ability to negotiate a new car 100% online! My wife and I bought a new Subaru Crosstrek in 2021, and a new Toyota Corolla in 2024. Each time I emailed five to seven local dealers and spent time negotiating with them totally via email. Did 90% of "what car do we want" research online first, narrowing it down to only one or two models. Then we only physically drove to a dealership twice: First to test-drive, to confirm the specific model and trim line we wanted. (Then all price negotiating by email) then went to a dealer a second time just to pick up the car. Each time we got a very good price, in the top 10% "best price" for that model according to KBB and other online sales data. It's the only way I will buy a car from now on! 😊

@@johnkonde1975 thanks! It's my wife's car. She likes it! I've been very "anti-CVT" for years, and never wanted to own one. Our 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is manual transmission, (which basically makes it "the perfect Subaru", ;) no CVT!) and she also wanted another manual transmission car to replace her last car which had died of old age, but a manual transmission "basic car" (not a sports car) no longer exists. (Well, except for one low-end Nissan and a VW, but we didn't want those) So Toyota now has the "take-off gear", the "physical first gear", which is used when starting up from a dead-stop, then it switches over to the CVT after the car is up to speed. This theoretically removes the main weakness of a CVT: the strain when starting from a dead stop. Which theoretically "solves" the "weak CVT" problem. After learning about that, we decided to risk a CVT. Knowing what we know about Toyota quality, we feel confident about it. (We keep cars until they die. We plan on 20 years owning a car.) it's only been 8 months, but its great so far! (We didn't finance, paid cash.)

These add-ons may be things that you don't even want. Like $1,000 for paint protection $500 for interior protection $200 for nitrogen filled tires $1500 for a tracking system etc etc. it's just wrong why can't you just go to a dealership pay MSRP add on anything that you want to add on and go from there if you want to get something under MSRP then that's great but not pay more than that. The Europeans have their system better than ours you go into a dealer you order the car you want you pay for what you're willing to pay and you wait for your car to come in. That system makes more sense to me versus the train wreck system we have here🙄

Exactly, people care way too much what others think about them and want to impress people they don’t even know. It’s like they need that $700+ car payment in their lives. It’s crazy.

Glad I’m set for awhile on getting another car. But I generally buy used and I always deal with the same salesman. He’s steered me right for the last dozen years so he gets my business. Don’t know what I’ll do when he retires, his son also works there so maybe I’ll deal with him.

I was going to look at Mazda thanks for the heads up. Driving a 2012 Hyundai Tuscon Limited 105k no problems at all, think I will just stay with this one vehicle. Toyota and Honda was going to look at those also they have issues also. Why can’t we get quality anymore? Pay $$$ for junk!
@greggpurviance7252Күн бұрын
The issues are all the turbo models, not the much more common naturally asperated. The hybrid cx50 is actually a Toyota drive train

I was hauling gas from Savannah GA to Sarasota Fl (6 hours 1 way) after the hurricane because there was no gas. Plenty of electricity, but no gas anywhere. The 2 lines for Costco was just over a mile long each. Also, gas stations run on electricity too. Without electricity, the pumps don't work.

Tell the managers that its 10%, they seem to think it's much higher and make the sales people miserable about closing, ups and sale ratios (this has been my experience) 😵💫

Interest rates also went up on loans as part of the Federal Government trying to slow inflation. We had many years, from 2008-2021 of historically low interest rates on mortgages, credit cards and of course, vehicle loans. That means longer term and higher payments. Due to longer loan terms, and higher prices, people are not trading in cars as often, so less cars available. Some that are being traded in are models like the cited Mazdas with turbos, serious engine or transmission flaws so have less value. It may be cheaper to fix a car than get a new/newer one. As to extended warranties - many are junk, don't cover as expected and are overpriced, with too much in commission to dealers and other sellers. I would also be afraid of many used cars that are not well maintained either due to costs many can't afford, are ignorant of doing so or as can't do on your own. Some vehicles (for example some BMW's) don't even have engine oil dipsticks so problems are not caught in a timely way. It will be interesting to see how used only lots like yours will survive due to more complicated cars, needing specialized dealer only equipment to fix, especially with EV's.

I plan on purchasing a new vehicle in 3-6 months. I will have ZERO problems. They either accept MY terms, or I walk the f*ck out. Easy peasy.

That’s not the right attitude to have. Approach the situation with knowledge, solid comparisons, and a calm demeanor, and you’ll see better results. If you choose to be a Karen , dealer will have no problem parting ways as it’s not worth the stress-there’s always someone nicer ready to work with them.

I don’t have lots of money but want to start dealing with few cars. I know you use lots of apps to check vehicle info and vehicle scores. I looked and they are expensive. Do you recommend one over the rest? I’ll be auction buying

You have to do the math when you’re looking at a vehicle that they’re offering you $3000 off but you have to pay 5.49% financing or you pay full price but they’ll give you 1.99% financing if you really do the math you’re really paying almost the same amount for the car

This is a great video. My advice would be stick to your budget. Don’t go based on monthly payments. The price of the car is very very very important more so than the monthly payments. What do you say? I think a lot of people go based on payments and buy a lot higher level than they can afford and need just saying great video. Keep up the great work. It is good and bad sales people out there just like any other industry. You’re one of the few good ones man keep up the great work and God bless and have an awesome up week to your wife and family.

You should factor-in the deep recession that is coming, and has already started. The economy will not be "normal". It isn't normal already, except the admin hid it with fake stats for the election. Businesses (stores, eateries) are closing by the thousands, I hear layoffs everywhere, many areas home inventories are outpacing pre-pandemic; inflation - especially food - is way up. . Perhaps the LA reconstruction will help the economy in CA. It's way more complex than you envision...

I think you have alot of good points for sure. However if your in the market for new anything not named Toyota, Honda or Lexus the prices have absolutely dropped. Especially CDJR who are selling 30 percent off MSRP and even more.

I just bought my wife a 2025 Nissan Rogue Rock creek edition. Since 2022 Nissan has been using the 1.5 3Cyl turbo on the rogue paired with a CVT which my opinion isn't the best choice of engine and transmission. We bought also factory Nissan extended bumper to bumper warranty 8 years 100,000 miles for peace of mind. An extended warranty is going to key in buying any new or pre-owned vehicle because of all of the technology and shotty build quality from 2020 on. I wish I would have bought an extended warranty on my 2018 Chevy Silverado that are known for AFM issues, torque converter, and transmission issues. Was quoted $2,900 to replace the steering rack because its popping while turning. In the meantime I'll shop for more repair quotes and wait for it to get really bad before replacing it.

Change that transmission fluid every 2 years or 30k miles and you will see a reliable trans. Congrats on new car.
@chrisced00712 сағат бұрын
@ absolutely. The transmission is definitely going to be serviced much earlier than the recommended maintenance. My wife’s former 2015 Rouge I had the transmission fluid changed at 64k then 95k. I would’ve changed it sooner but was arguing with a service writer saying it didn’t need changed sooner. Ended up getting it changed somewhere else.

Seems like car manufactures and dealerships would rather sell fewer but more expensive vehicles instead of selling more vehicles at obtainable prices for the majority.
@redbaron6805Күн бұрын
That would likely be correct, and the simple reason is margins. A manufacturer may make $2000 on a base model car, but they may make $5000 to $10000 off the fully loaded version. The margins on the loaded and high end models are much higher. The same applies to the dealers. They probably get a percent commission on sales and financing. So, if that is lets say 1%, they would make $300 on a $30k car, but $600 on a $60k car...

I have been looking for a new car and I am not super picky. Sticking with Ford, Nissan and Mitsubishi because I am looking to make a deal. I do my homework and I am targeting vehicles that have been on the lot for a while (usual more than 150days) cause I figure they want to those off the books. The most I have been been able to get off is $500 below MSRP. Maybe it is just my local area but the dealers I interact with here seem content to sit on their inventory.

I am thinking of purchasing a 2025/2026 Honda CRV Touring Hybrid. Other than the dealership trying to sell me a extended warranty for profit, what is the advantage for me to buy the extended warranty ? I am a retired senior and drive about 8-10k miles a year including road trips. I would rather keep the extra money in the bank. What are your thoughts ? Tia -:)
