Really like all the video's, guys. You both are awesome with the advice and experience. For a while there, ya'll had me revved up to go to a dealership and buy a new ride. But now that I've had time to think on it a bit, the hell with dealerships. It just shouldn't be this hard to buy a car! I'll drive mine for a while longer.

I just got a dealer with the financing being paid off before the first payment because they refused to give me my asking price for my trade. not sure how much they lost from the financing but I felt good about giving the screwing back.

Hi I booked a Honda civic 2022 model from Markham Honda, Toronto so when I went there they showed me the car and I booked it for 228 biweekly payment terms than they took me to finance manager he pressurised me to buy unnecessarily add ons to get approval for loan (at this time my payment went up to 270 biweekly even though I am paying 2500 down the brand new costs me 215 with this down ) and took my signatures. On the second day they called me and ask me to visit the showroom as they said that bank rejected my application so I need to sign other documents for reapplication I went there and on that day he took my signatures on loan documents by saying we are gonna apply in another bank later on I found out it is overpriced more than new one so I went and asked to cancel the booking but they are saying that we can’t cancel the booking as we already got the funds from bank and car is under your name( I didn’t provide insurance to them) already if you refuse to take delivery we will tow and park it on your drive way and threatened me with legal actions that we will do this and that can you please help me out ?

Thanks for this excellent video! Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to Elizabeth (and you be well, also, Kevin). My son and I also caught some version of that cold! I have a question about the first example you gave on the Lexus. You speculated that the dealer paid $27,xxx for the car. In previous videos, you had said to offer the dealer around $2,000 more than that price in the offer. Yet, in this example, I see an offer of over $31,000. Why was the offer not around $29,xxx plus tax, title, and license?

Could a dealer actually enforce the "account active for 4 months" policy? Seems like something the dealership has no control over once the loan is booked.

If I understand the video correctly, no loan over 60 months can have a pre-payment penalty according to federal law. That is why Kevin and Elizabeth are urging cash buyers to sign up for the 72-month loans. I say that it is always a good idea to look through the terms of the loan before signing to make sure. One can also ask the dealer finance people up front to highlight where in the loan paperwork does it say IN WRITING that that account must be active for four months.

It's the banks loan terms not the dealer. I've never had a car loan with a prepayment penalty no matter the term. Most banks let you pay off any loan early.

Just a heads up a auto broker in Nevada is trashing your idea of buying from Mannheim. He seems a bit sleazy but I thought you should know. I'm still gonna use your service when it comes time to buy a car. BTW when is a good time to sell your late model car with low miles? I'm in no rush. Tnx for your great work.

We are totally fine with dealers, brokers, or anyone else trashing our Auction Car Purchase program. We fully expected it. Jealousy and hatred for beating people to the punch gets them every time! Lol

I saw his video and got the same sleazy vibes as you did. How self serving that a used car dealer doesn't want you to buy a car from an auction.

The interpretation I have of that video (assuming we are all thinking of the same one) is that the auction houses exaggerate when it comes to the condition of the cars at auction, and may give a high score to cars that are in much worse shape. I am not sure what is Kevin's experience with these things, but I am guessing that Kevin wants his own group of inspectors to verify the condition of the car before passing it on to the buyer.

​​​​@@KevinHunterI think we're seeing the same video where guy said that the vehicles going through auction are trash I follow some others that go to these auctions and they are all saying the quality on the vehicles are down.... most of these guys that are saying this are dealing with older or higher mileage vehicles if you stay with low or newer Vehicles you might be okay but it would still be good if you could have someone on the ground to verify because there's a lot of shady dealers out there trying to pull crap over others... there are Vehicles out there that have been in bad accidents that are not reported and are fixed up then sold with a clean title.... I just saw a guy posted that he traded in a newer vehicle with lower mileage he later went back and search that vehicle with the VIN number and found the dealer that is trying to selling it (different dealer then he did the trade) and they have it listed as a clean Carfax but he said it does not he had been rear ended twice and the second time his vehicle was shoved into the vehicle in front of him therefore damaging both front and back that is why inspection is so important...

A CarFax is helpful, but far too many people rely on that report like it's the Car Bible. It's definitely NOT.

My last leased vehicle, the 2022 Hyundai Kona Limited I'm driving now, was taken delivery during the pandemic (October 2021) and I'm actually looking forward to shopping dealers and crossover brands this spring which I've never been able to do before. No more "take it or leave it" attitudes from dealers because they are not in control of supply and demand any longer!

Pre-delivery service charge? Is he kidding? Just what "service" is the dealer providing that the dealer should provide anyway as a part of the sale price of the car?

Is call PDI as I'd paid to the dealer by the manufacturer and by the way the charge is less than $95 to the manufacturer.....

If the car is traded in, how is the dealer even paying for delivery in the first place? The only "service" would be reconditioning of the car before sale (which should be built in to their asking price) and then getting it to pass inspection (which they could also likely do in-house).

​@willie6961 That's new vehicles only. Used vehicles go through a used safety check or a CPO. These costs are already included in the retail price. They shouldn't be adding extra line items for service related work.

More complexity to a vehicle the cheaper the offer should be as there is so much more that can go wrong. Knowing that battery electric vehicles continue to fall in price yet surge in sales with more production capacity en route is as powerful incentive as there can be as dealers want to earn those service $$$$s. If Tesla suddenly aggressively expands service/retail into the USA for 2024 plus oil prices jump again no way would i even be looking at a pure play ICE Platform until after this Summer with sales of Tesla Cybertruck then known. Presumably Ford and Rivian will respond to Cybertruck aggressively by then as well with even Lucid rumored to have a pickup truck BEV in the works now. Still think the best play is to buy Lyft or Uber stock not a vehicle tho.

Not every buyer suffers with an expensive truck. It large lady depends upon what they have saved up. I personally wouldn't use that kind of money for a vehicle, but some do.
