Buying a car is the most frustrating process ever. Car dealers are thieves trying to rob you blind. We should be able to buy a car online in 2023 and avoid the dealers completely.
@exastrisscientia8656 Жыл бұрын
You're right. Do a test drive ahead of time. Make it clear you are only doing a test drive today and you will contact them later by email. If the sales person becomes pushy about making a sale today ask for another sales person or walk away. A buyer should be able to do 100% of the "shopping" and price negotiations online. In the comfort of their own home with no sales or finance person rushing you. You should only have to come in to sign the agreed upon contract and pay.

I'll add a few "tricks": 1) "You have to come into the dealership for the final price." 2) "All of our car contracts include (name add on). That is not negotiable." 3) "My manager can give you the best price if you come into the dealership." 4) "Do you know what your credit score is?" 5) "We don't give OTD pricing on an e-mail." 6) "That vehicle is not available (even though it's on the website), it's presold". 7) "We're only selling cars that are allocated to us. We are not doing special orders." 8) "When can you come in?" (before they give you a price when you've asked for it). 9) "Our company policy is....." (even if it violates the law). 10) "We're selling all of these at $X over MSRP."

We walked today, didn't even get into the office. My wife wanted to look at a Bronco. The stealer ship we were at had two. One was 71k the other 69k. The sticker stated, " no haggle price". I said looks like we need to wait another year. The salesman wanted our phone number and information which we refused. He didn't chase us but seemed shocked that we walked off. This was in Vero Beach, FL. A lot of money here so they are betting some simp comes in and buys them for sticker price.
@vicenzor3625 Жыл бұрын
@@flguy6807unfortunately the car market has been so hot since the pandemic with low inventory and high demand that dealerships started treating people terribly and couldn't care less if you walk away because they have a waiting list for the cars anyway. Always remember this when you start to feel bad about wasting their time while you take yours to decide on a purchase. If I'm serious about buying I try to work out as much as possible beforehand and when I get there they've spent a lot of time on me so they're more likely to budge a bit on stuff than let me walk because they're pot committed on time spent. It's so much better to have outside financing secured rather than financing at a dealership

Last week I went to Honda Santa Fe, in NM, to service my car. The new cars had big signs with discounts of about $1,500. But get this: Next to the Monroney sticker, behind the tinted windows of the new cars, they also had a added a slip of paper, hand written, indicating a “Dealer adjustment” above MSRP of about $3,000. Ha, ha! They add an arbitrary increase of $3k and then they “lower” the price $1.5k.

My positive experience after disaster run-ins. I won't go into details of my disaster experience. It would take too long. I did research on the cost of the car I was interested in. Kia Soul. I contacted four dealers via email. I told each of the out the door price and since it was pre owned the max mileage I wanted. Alright my with the carfax report. Three said a-ok and I made an appointment to come in. I did not tell them it was a cash transaction before hand. Two were a waste of time and pissed me off. As I got up to leave after 15 minutes, both sales jerks yelled as they literally followed me out the showroom door. The third was unbelievable. When I came in the sales representative had a list for me of five cars with all the facts that I requested. I test drove without him going with me. We came back. After he met my price, we then set the trade in value. Then I met the owner and asked whether he would remove my radio since I installed it. Agreed with no charge. It was the best experience I ever had. I purchase all my vehicles at this dealer.

I had a 750 score, and that was only because I had just paid off my Mortgage 6 months before, as well as my student loan 10 months before. They didn't want to take into consideration my credit score had dropped 60 points thanks to losing an 18 year credit history (the mortgage) just dropped off a few months before. In the end I suggested it might be better to start the process over again at a different Toyota dealership like the people before me did. I reminded him that I was here to buy the car today and that I could do much better than 5.95% interest. Like magic, he said the best he could do was 3.25%. I was alright with that. BTW I have 5 more payments and I think I only paid $2200 in interest.Still got the 4Runner for a great deal.

3 days ago, I was out for a walk and walked past Paragon Honda in NYC. Thought I might as well take a look at some used vehicle prices. The window sticker read $33,000!! For what, you ask? No, it wasn't a Pilot! It was a 2020 Accord base model with a few miles shy of 68000 miles on it. Soon as a salesman saw me reading window sticker, he ran and "gladly" mentioned that there's a discount and not to worry about that price. Not my first visit there and I guess it's better to stay away from Paragon Honda. The first ever visit to a dealership was the classic bait-n-switch they did with me. I made an appointment and arrived an hour early only to be told how the car "was sold just 10 mins ago and paperwork was in progress." The sales rep was very rude and tried to set me up for something I was not wanting, but I recalled one thing. "Walk out!" I guess had I not walked out of that place that day, I'm sure I would've been $crewed. They totally had me in their trap.

About 20 years ago, we moved and I thought I would try my hand selling cars. About a month after I started, this older man brought his car into the service department to get new tires and brakes. He made the mistake of wandering onto the new car showroom. Long story short; I ended up selling him a new version of his 3 year old car. He was under water on his old car and the finance guy just rolled his old payment into the new car loan. Plus he had to pay for the brakes and tires on his old car. When he heard what his new payments would be, he just said “Thank goodness my disability check will just cover it. And he drove away in his new, overpriced car. That night I went home and told my wife I had quit my job, explaining to her that I was just too honest to make my living selling cars. I then went into teaching at the local high school.

I can totally relate to this. A 20 year old from Russia who barely spoke English left with a 3-year-old car (A Camry) with $700 car payments 25% interest and insurance jumping from $100.00 per month to $600 per month. Once the process started, I couldn't prevent the carnage. I sold NEW Toyotas and still drove a 20 year old Corolla with 200,000 miles with no issues. Of course mine will probably still outlast the new ones.

Nitro fees $199: "Audi cars come with Nitrogen gas already filled in at port instead of regular air. This keeps vehicle stable for all season" MSRP: 63,950.00 Dealer discount: $1,000.00 Audi summer incentives: $1,000.00 Doc fee: $489.00 DMV: $399.00 Tire tax: $7.50 Nitro fee: $199.00 Tax: $0 OTD total: $63,044.50 I think all of these fees are BS..... your thoughts?

Most of the time they're needing to sell and will take the low-ball offers dealerships are giving them if you agree to sweeten it a tad and can pay them quickly up front. You'll save a lot of money and as long as you can look it over or have a mechanic you trust look it over first it's a great way to get one.

A new guy came out (guessing a Manager of sorts) and basically said (strongly hinted) that I had to actually "purchase" the vehicle even "before" testing it (which to me is no longer a test drive). To quote: "we have to make the deal first". What!! For a mid-level stupid arse pick-up truck. Not even pricey race car. It would have been ok if they collected my DL, Insurance - then I could test drive. But nodody even asked. Just said "have to make the deal first". really... I'm a senior (65+) so maybe they thought they could pull something over on me. When I called and complained to them.. they then said they have to protect their high level inventory from joy riders. What, again .. for a frikin mid-size pickup... Again, they could have checked me out and - just looked at my Grandpa senior citizen self. Yeah, Like I'm a 65yo thrill seeker and joy rider. You can try getting pre-approved through your bank or an outside bank. It wasn't mentioned in this video , but when speaking with the financial manager they'll get an approval through a bank they work with. ask for the buy rate of that approval because most likely they are telling you the sell rate. The sell rate is 1-2% higher than what you were actually approved for.

If the salesman/woman F&I manager or whoever starts adding all this crap,on the back end. WHY wouldnt it be effective to agree to ALL of these thing as long as YOUR OTD total price remains the same? Let's try to see from the greedy perspective of car dealerships, especially new ones, let's say FORD. What I want as a dealer is, you as the customer consumer, come over, get excited over a certain vehicle, new, or preowned, etc. I want you excited enough not to notice how overpriced expensive over msrp by 1000s or even 10 K. of dollars your favorite car is. Also I want you to finance the purchase of it, even high interest rate, 10% and up, and I want you to go some 8 years to pay up the loan, perhaps even more. I want you to sign papers you have no clue what you are signing. I want you to have copies of your signature documents, while I keep the originals, to forge fraud your signature. I want you to buy dozens of warranties on your excitement new vehicle. I want you to think by your emotions and not your mind. I want you to buy key and other similar monthly membership. For example if you don't pay your $50/monthly key monthly membership, then your car will not ignition start. And other memberships, such as wheel membership, if you don't pay, they'll be locked. So, I as the dealer will get 100% of all my monies IN ADVANCE, for example my entire $75,000 from the get-go and still monthly scam you, with warranties, guarantees, memberships, fake overpriced repairs, etc. Now you as the loser consumer will find out that the car is a lemon very soon, so you abandon the loan. The car is repossessed. The victims are you, the customer consumer, the loan giver, the USA nation and TAXPAYER. While the dealership is laughing scamming all the way to the bank. And this clockwork cycle rotation will repeat again and again. PLEASE LET'S FIGHT SCAMMERS CAR DEALERS. LET'S PRESSURE DETROIT MANUFACTURERS TO FIRE THESE THIEVES DEALERSHIPS. LET'S CONTACT CONGRESS, VOTE, ADVOCATE, CHANGE CAR DEALERSHIPS LAWS. LET'S MAKE THESE BAS#ARDS REDUNDANT AND FIRE THEM! CAR DEALERSHIPS ARE THIEVES.
