Car Care : Soundproof/Sound Deadening PT 4 : The Resonance Chamber ("Trunk"), With Siless Mat

Thanks Friend! Took more time than actual work, and the returns on deadening a 5*5ft resonance chamber were instantly appreciated. Especially with the sound of rain/snow/ice splashing under the car.

Good stuff! Planning on doing a similar approach for doors/trunk on my forester. Any lessons learned and was it worth it? Hoping to reduce road noise on long drives, wondering how much the actual tires (getting tires rated for quiet rides) makes a difference too. Thanks again!

It's hard to show in video the sound difference, but, as a base model, it is SUBSTANTIALLY quieter. I hardly hear rain on the windshield, and the loudest part of my car is the engine (manual transmission, usually at 2.5-4k rpms, so, always making more noise than a 1.5k rpm CVT) and my kids. 🤓👍 It absolutely is worth doing, so much so that I have since done my mom's, father's, and wife's cars, in the same manner, with the same material, minus the Siless matting (the thinest foam, used mostly in this video). The Siless works fine, but the 10 mm foam is substantially cheaper and adds thermal insulation. The benefit to the Siless is it fits under carpet and in tighter area better (which is why I only used it in the trunk and under the cabin carpet). Ill answer any questions you have, but my 10 video miniseries should cover all the bases for you. 👍

Also, the doors I covered early on in the series. I just completed my wife's Outback four doors in 1 hour. ~$40 in material, makes arguably the largest difference for the time/$ investment. What trim level is your car?

@@OutsideTheTargetDemographic it’s a forester sport, i notice the “ting” pretty bad on the doors, going to start with those and the trunk. Doesn’t seem like the sport has much more in the doors, i took one off to check and it’s pretty identical to your video. Any links or advice on where to buy the 10mm foam?
