These bearings can be removed and can also be pressed into the hub component shown here. When pressing the bearing into the hub, A good tip is freezing the bearing before hand. the cold will shrink it enough to fit it into the warm hub, you will need a bearing press. If you can’t picture this , just buy it whole like this mechanic here .

What is the socket size and torque setting on the axle nut? Can I use any other common tool to remove the dust cap without damaging it? Which begs the question if the cap isn't damaged can't it just be reused? Great video! Thanks.

In the brake repair video, Mr Reed stated that the brake assembly should not be left to dangle from the brake line hose. I would have thought he would have suspended the brake assembly from the frame with a wire or something. Bad practice!

I have the same car and need to replace the hub and bearing. I ordered both and have them on hand right now. The hub and bearing are individual assemblies. I imagine there's a certain type of press for installing the bearing into the hub and onto the spindle. Do you know what type of press is required for this? The fitment appears to be extremely tight. In fact, I'm unsure if I might need to cold soak the spindle and possibly heat the bearing to facilitate installation. Any advice would be appreciated by anyone with experience on this car. Thanks.

18:42 you took the old seal off but didnt put in a new one. Is it not necessary for the new wheel bearing? Torque spec should be 175nm for the new nut
@magnificent103047 жыл бұрын
MrDuc1979 I think that was just for the old bearing, I just installed both rear wheel bearings on my jetta and the old seals just dangled there. They were actually useful to take off the innar race that suck on

For those of you who do not have an air compressor for the cutting wheel; they make cutting disk attachments that work with a regular drill and the disk is smaller which would make this job a little bit easier.

You are wrong. There is a set size. GM has nothing to do with VW. I understand when I made my correction that this vehicle is 30mm all around. However not all VWs (MK4) are 30 all around.

shut your face, u dont know what your talking about, the old roller bearing can last easly up to 150k or more, it depends on how you mount it, what grease you use and what sort of road it gets to drive on, there is no differense, the only difference is that one can be replaced has a part and the ball bearing cant... ohh and allso, if the roller bearing wears out, but u still have to drive some 100 km or even more, u can just tighten it and drive on, it sure is a better choice for a long tripping car, my roller bearings have done 110 k , and the left front is dieng, has i dont have the tools nor time to get it replaced i have driven an extra 1000 km with it, and its still kicking some ass, ball bearing would have allready by now fail totally and the wheel would have fallen off, dont talk shit when you know you are talking shit and someone out there knows the truth and will set you straight !
