I know the feeling. I had to put down my 5 year old cat in May of 2022, and that was probably the hardest that I ever cried. She was fighting a loosing battle with cancer, and had a tumor growing at an alarming rate off of one of her intestinal walls. They would've had to completely gut her to get it, and it would have most likely grown back. I didn't want her to suffer because of my own selfishness, so I agreed to put her down. She was my little gaming buddy. She would lay in my lap, or next to me, and watch the screen if I was playing a game. We did almost everything together, and I will always miss her. It's going to be painful for a while, but it will fade a bit over time. I'm sorry for your loss.

We had a cat that lived to 16. Half that time we had to give him shots in the morning and 5pm. He became either use to the schedule or could tell when he needed his "fix" because he would come and ask for his shot. RIP Oscar.

I remember being in the car as a kid outside of Xpect and the dread in my father's body right before he went into the store to pick up insulin for the first time. I'm glad he stuck around. Not everyone is able to provide the level of care a cat with complicated medical issues going on needs and difficult decisions have to be made, and the terrifying thing is there isn't always an obvious right or wrong. I had an orange, flat-faced soulmate growing up, and one morning, when I was home from college, I woke up to find him in the aftermath of a devastating stroke. I made the call before my parents were ready to make that decision, and I was right there with him until the very end. It absolutely happens all the time where people confuse selfishness for love. Quality of life isn't the only consideration that needs to be made, but it should always be the first, and unfortunately, people forget that because it's really hard to let go. One day, I walked into the living room to discover my father sprawled out on the floor in horrific pain due to diabetic ketoacidosis. He would have died alone in that house if I hadn't been there to call 911. Especially type-1 diabetics like my father have it really rough. There are also a lot of chronic medical complications resulting from diabetes that can be worse that diabetes alone. So, quality of life can become an issue. What is ridiculous, though, is making some kind of categorical statement when the only context you have is that the cat in this story needed two shots a day. Why would you risk putting doubts into someone's mind about such a potentially sensitive issue when you don't know the person or what the details of the situation were? That's the part that bothers me. Otherwise, I wouldn't care.

@@Shyknit The lower portion is not "attached to the bottle", it's loose and held in place by the groove above, so it will turn with the cap (to which it is attached). Of course, caveat, this may depend on the exact type of bottle you have, but in a lot of drinks bottles, you can spin that part around freely once you have taken off the cap and in others it'll be difficult because it's a little tight.
