I think your mechanic Phil at Tech9 must be really good at his work with all you have gotten done with all your cars with him. Accidents do happen unfortunately but it's how they are dealt with makes the difference. Well done, Tech9. I hope the guy whose head hit the windscreen isn't any the worse for it!! The cage looks the business and the fire extinguisher, I hope you never use either of them! Stay Safe & Keep Reporting!!

Obviously the technician didn't want to hurt his head and its tricky working in a confined space like that, shit happens. I am suspicious about not letting you inspect the roll cage twice

Porsche windshields, tie rod, certain bushings, motor mounts, timing chains, and brake kits are all on back order. The fire extinguisher is a must. Look what happened to the guy that runs Autohedonism and his Aventador there.

Porsche is one of my faves. I love those, especially the GT2RS. My dream is the Ring in a GT2RS-MR. Robert Mitchell who co-owns Apex Taxi and is a big yacht fan too was going to try and help me get there to Germany and fulfill that wish, but then I got served divorce papers.

Robert Mitchell is a nice dude. I spoke to him a bit a while back, he is/was a subscriber to this channel. Enjoyed his channel too until he just stopped posting. Yeah the 991 GT2RS-MR is the dream car.

Wow. That’s a proper weapon of a 911. GT2’s have sky rocketed in the value here in the states. Especially the RS’s, it’s a shame, no one will use them as intended.

No harm, no foul, in the long run. As you say, these things happen. I was a communications tech for years, and was always soooo careful. Especially around high end vehicles. Fortunately I never had an issue such as that, but there were a few in the shop. I’ll guarantee you that guy is going to be reminded about that by his fellow installers for some time.

Damn! that car looks great. Heart breaking to hear about the windscreen and roll cage. Had they been of mind to inspect the roll cage when it arrived at their shop they would have noticed the missing parts, bad on them for that. Phil went the extra mile (kilometer) to take care of a good customer by continuing to search for and find an OEM wind screen for your car.

Glad the windscreen worked out. A question if I may, Mr. Sysman- Any chance you could share your education, training and whether or not you are currently running boats in a future video? I'd really enjoy hearing how you got involved in the industry, and what it took for you to get to the level you're at now. Thank you, and safe travels.

Oh my, so sorry to hear about the screen. What a crapshoot to find one as well. Thanks for the upload. The cage does look nice, however. Nice work. I am glad I subscribed to your channel a couple months ago. I wouldn't sweat the screen too much. Shat happens, life goes on. All the best.

Cage good assuming you’re going to have fun on track occasionally. I feel your pain on waiting for stuff from Porsche on back order. I’ve been waiting since February 2022 for a new cruise control system 😢
@timcoughlin49982 жыл бұрын
The extinguisher boot only needs removed for requalification. It can stay on for operation normally unless it is attached to the car floor. As for the cage piece missing, it happens but is a direct reflection of the manufacturer's QA department. It just seems more money doesn't necessarily mean better quality. Even high end suppliers are cutting corners to stay price competitive. Working on cars and especially race cars is dangerous at times. The main thing is I hope the mechanic who hit their head is okay.
@eSysmanTech2 жыл бұрын
I think the missing piece is just accidental, it can happen.

I would flip the fire extinguisher for easier access to the handle. Just my opinion.

What a roller coaster ride for you! The expectation then disappointment with the roll cage, and then the accident, resignation to waiting till spring and all of a sudden the new windscreen. So fortunate you were still home in the UK and able to get it right in. I hope they will be able to add the missing bar without taking the whole interior apart again! You really are doing an incredible job with this car! I read in your reply to another comment how you've essentially put it together from the ground up. It looks stunning, your shop Tech 9 must be a big part of that. Hope all the rest goes smoothly and well. By the way, although you pointed out how it isn't easy getting in, and you have to get used to it again after being away, as soon as you started driving you looked right at home and comfortable. And not as tired, either! Energized I'd say.

Yes the car was built over a 5 year period really. I will at some point do a video on the entire build as it's been so long since I did it that it gets lost in these videos really. Tech9 have been fantastic in everything they have done on the car, and they have done almost all of the work over the last ten years.

Don't think I would have put the cage in unless you race it on a track as you've lost two rear seats 😉 as for not using it in the winter that's a good plan as my motorcycle goes away before they start gritting the roads and doesn't come back out until we have heavy rain 🤣 And it's a stunning looking car mate 😉

Now that you have the windshield (I mean screen 😀) repaired, it's time to enjoy the car while you're home. With the fire extinguished installed where it is, how often will there be someone in the passenger seat? Hence, no need to worry about the missing piece of the roll cage for the time being. Hi, unless you plan to track, race or rally your car I think the cage is a waste of money and it doesn't improve the appearance of the car. Infact, I would think it will probably reduce resale value due to the aforementioned reasons. Apart from the cage it's a great looking car. I enjoy you KZbin channel, so thanks.
@eSysmanTech2 жыл бұрын
I don't intend to ever sell this car so resale value is not something I think about. The car has been built to such a high level (no expense spared) that if for any reason it came up for sale, I would have no problems selling.

Why did they install an extinguisher for a 993 in a 997?

Always suspicious that when interiors are removed what doesn’t reinstall the way it was original in-factory installation. Rattles, squeaks, missed reconnections, etc. I can’t say that fire extinguisher looks all that good & a bother for a passenger to contend with. My question is you don’t race this machine so the need for that & a roll cage along with the massive cost, is that all recoverable if you sell this car?
