That contact glue is not available in the US. Do you have any suggestions for an alternate?

In the states you want to get Dap, Weldwood contact adhesive for Landau tops. Light blue & white cans. I have used this in the trade.

This artisan way is an alternate option for small pieces. As you mention for big panels it is advisable the use of a hydraulic press and dies with the required pattern. Three ways of getting the necessary heat to emboss vinyl, leather, etc: 1. dielectric/microwaves 2. electric arc 3. electrical resistances I use the third option that consists in heating the main aluminum plate with resistances.kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3ane6CBerxloq8si=OhI22y7afq54vpqg&t=2 (small press I use for small patterns) In the past 45 years ago approx. Additional information: The dielectric method is actually 'electromagnetic waves'. the process is similar to a domestic microwave oven. To emboss vinyl or leather requires some heat. In this case the heat comes from the upper section (microwave magnetron generates the heat) to the layers (vinyl, foam,etc.) below to be embossed. Once the surface to be embossed is slightly hot the seal/die plus an even pressure exerted by a big hydraulic press complete the work.
