A rare Soviet car - Moskvich 2140 SL - Super Lux version of AZLK 2140. The car was produced and sold to the high society of the Soviet Union, the car was not available to ordinary citizens, well, at the same time, compare the level of stratification then - now. Anyway!
Moskvich-2140-117 (2140SL) is a Soviet car of the III group of a small class, produced in Moscow at the AZLK plant from 1980 to 1987. It was a modernized and improved version of the Moskvich-2140 model, intended mainly for export. Index SL (SL) stands for Super Luxury.

Yugoslavian importer of Moskvich cars - S.O.U.R. Progres Beograd - for a while offered front end conversion to this style for many owners of earlier chrome grille chrome bumper Moskvich cars (as well as changing rear bumper to match) like people today do on English MGB, just other way round. Neighbour who used his Moskvich station wagon for a private refrigerator service when I was a little girl had just such a car.

When I was growing up in Canada in the '60s and '70s our parents mostly drove American cars, many of which were actually built in Canada, and almost all of them had the fuel filler behind the license plate, just like the Moskvitch.

i have a 2140 that was sold new in norway. not this trim model but just the same. with such a long production time are engine parts easy to find in russia?

@@notanthing3343 There was same as this Sl 2140 back then in Yugoslavia , before a couple a days a go the grandad wana show same and want to sell !!?? i ask him how much ? he say 2000 us dollars , he payed 3.500 !!? hahahhaaha but the car was realy good always in garage 80.000km green collor
