Estonians have been "slow" because Russians made jokes about Estonians in USSR times. Similarly Russians speak Estonian very slowly and pronounce vowels too long. This is due to the fact that the Estonian language belongs to a completely different language group. The 6 toes joke comes from the fact that Latvians loved to wear flip flops with socks (perhaps to hide the extra toe)

Another thing that adds fuel to the fire (perhaps it is brake oil🤣) is that Estonians and Finns are not emotional people. A person who speaks slowly and without emotion can seem like a really stupid person (for emotional person), but we have different culture and see tings another way. Lithuanians and Poles are known in the Nordic countries as fast, but bad quality workers who in total take 10 times more time to finish work than Estonians or Finns.

The reality is that the construction of the Finnish nuclear power plant took 12 years longer thanks to the Poles and Lithuanians, whose work the locals had to constantly do over.😂

Either the Estonians took the slow jokes with a healthy sense of humour, or they're still typing the response.

4:00 I heard a variation of that joke, except: In older times an Estonian family sends two teenage brothers to their grandmothers house a few towns away. The journey takes two hours, and at the first hour mark, one teenager says "I wish the horse was faster" When they reach the grandmothers house, the grandmothers asks how the journey went, the second teenager says "It was horrible! The (name of second teenager) wouldn't stop talking! Thats pretty much how us Estonians act.

@@LithuaniaExplained i work with some Finns and there isnt much of a difference except that they are slower than we Estonians are). Of course ill mention people born after 1991 in Estonia feel to be quite different in general from anyone born even a year earlier. also, i dont think we are known to be stupid and we actually feel quite accomplished so it is simple to not take any jokes on that matter very seriously. They are obviously just wrong;D. I would also add that for whatever reason, whenever i see someone from Latvia or Lithuania, i get the vibes of 90s or 2000s from them. When life here was less refined.

6:40 As a lithuanian, I think not. Only thing is that we love taking those BMWs on the sidewalk or some other place where it shouldn't be. However, turning down the milleage is quite a common thing, infact, in 2018 or 2019, a popular internet site was created made so you could search a vehicle by licence plate and show its milleage history and things similar to this.

The car situation in Lithuania is very real, even locally we constantly hear about people from here stealing cars (mostly BMW's) abroad in the UK, or sometimes sadly even from our brother Latvians which is incredibly disrespectful. Not to mention how lucky you must get to buy a decent condition used car with pretty much everyone having at least some hidden things about the cars that they are selling. Be it individual sellers or even official dealers, speaking of which i have recently witnessed a suv being purchased by a person I work with from a dealer and it clearly had been in a frontal and rear end crash due to panel gaps being competely out of order and of course no one mentioned anything about it. Sad and annoying but true reality, that will hopefully one day end up just being just jokes as you have mentioned.

There is one joke about Lithuanians in Estonia: Why don't you joke about Lithuanians? Because we never think about them. Also less common joke about Latvian language is that you can speak Latvian if u add -s to the end of every word

Here is one of my observations. On Twitter, Estonians follow you but don't speak or comment. In 6 months or so a few say hi in DM on Twitter. With 1 or 2 I finally meet in person after 6 months of DM-ing. Now that Xmas is coming, I tweet that those brave enough to communicate with me will get a small Xmas present from me. Other Estonians start saying "it's not fair" :D

What about the Baltic jokes about them self? I know 2 of these Latvian jokes: 1. What will the last Latvian in Latvia do? He will turn off the lights in aeroport after himself. (There are also other variations) (a lot of Latvians have left Latvia after economic crisis in 2008) 2. Let's declare war to Sweden, and next day surrender! (To life in a rich country)

I don't think it is so much of a problem within Lithuania anymore :) It used to be a lot of thefts, but it's been years since I heard about a stolen car.. It was a thing something like till 2010. The car problem that's left is indeed the hidden problems when they sell the used cars...

While there's some antipathy towards Polish in Lithuania, mainly because of Vilnius situation during the wars - I don't think Lithuanians have many jokes about them. Definitely not of a "Polish joke" kind - that's more of an American phenomenon. Most jokes in Lithuania about Polish is directed at their language. One: when Polish person speaks it sounds like scratch-DJing.
