If you weld some Heavy duty D-rings to the back of the trailer you can use a snatch block to pull things off the trailer with the winch.

I think it'd be really useful to make a welded platform with welded in bolts, above the winch, and install one of those "yard sale" generators on it with wingnuts for easy removal. If you ever need more than cordless tools can offer, or to power the winch, too.

May luck always fallow your path, The reason I say that is have seen and been close to 3 battery's (over the years) that pop their tops off blowing small chunks of the case all over the place, all three times the people welding near the battery where covered in battery acid, luckily all had the helmet on and none had any eye damage! so always may the force be with you sir !

One solution to short trailers and long items, mount the winch on the side of the A frame, and route the cable with pulleys to the tip on a raised structure. Worked for me, at my flat, where i can't hold a long trailer. I keep it around in the city just in case an opportunity/score happens and i can't get outside to my main trailer. Beats renting one for sure.

Smart way to install that. Water and air can get under to dry it out. It looks very strong with the extra brace.

I was going to poopoo the whole idea of using two angles instead of a box selection but it really does eliminate the problem of trapping water and promoting rust and you still get welds on all 4 sides. Interesting idea.

Very nice, that should eliminate the difficulties with the limited capacity of that boat style winch you had on it. A few years ago I installed a 4000lb winch in my own garage to help me drag in dead vehicles from the back alley. A back alley that is frequently heavy in ice ruts and such. Used it twice. I have two mounts for it on either side of the garage ( 2 car ) . I can use the opposite bracket as a doubler mount if I need to. well anchored to the footings of the garage. not much chance of breaking up the footings that way .

As far as "trying not to buy more stuff I already have", I recently added a detached garage to be used "mostly" as the "automotive toy box". What I'm finding, however, is that new "space" is too handy to avoid using it for whatever project happens to be in the works (automotive, wood, construction, metal, etc) that needs "shop room". The "surprise" that pertains to your comment is I'm finding the tools I need are rarely already in the garage that I'm "currently" working in. So, as in your case "this will be dedicated to the welding trailer", it appears one needs multiple identical tools so they can be "dedicated" to each work area to avoid "doing laps" between tool storage locations. ;o(

No body seems to check that the wheel speeds are compatible to the machine speeds these days, we just assume that all 4" grinders are 11000 rpm all 9" are 6200 and the wheels the same. Good price you are looking at around £60 over here. ( $ 78) new. Great vid as always by the way.

Just last night I was watching *sixtyfiveford* on his channel (good channel!) building a portable cordless drill powered winch using a worm gear driven winch from amazon. When he got done beefing and tightening it up (it was sloppily made from the factory) he was able to lift the ass end of a passenger car up off the ground with ease. The winch you have looks like a monster.

I've had very demeaning comments on my own pics where my welds are less than perfect. many people seem to think if you are not a perfect professional at something you have no business working such things. I just stick my nose up at them . I am just a lowly hobbyist. rebuilt my 1980 3/4 ton 4wheel drive GMC almost 10 years ago now. It passed out of province safety inspection first attempt. paint, body and mechanical. first attempt at such a thing although the mistakes are starting to pop thru into the limelight now.

That "smoking brake" happened to me, and I didn't know why, since the brakes had been okay before; I then realized that it was just from where they had undercoated (i.e., "fluid film") the car, and a little of it had dripped onto the brake-rotor; it burned off after a while :D

You put the cutting disc is in upside down... the rough surface makes the disc bite into the 'keeper nut', making it hard to release. If you put it in right side up (the label facing towards the angle gear, just like the 'flapper disc)' you can easily unscrew the disc by hand while still having it in tightly when operating it. Just try it and you'll see😎

The list of vehicles and equipment needing oil treatment is growing. Shame you can't have a robot that you could control. Just sit down and drive and spray. A go-pro with a wiper and an airless pump, you could just line them up. The only ones you would get dirty on are the tractors.
