Hey gunman I sprayed my 1978 Pontiac Trans Am metallic blue factory color. No experience except for what I've learned in your videos. I sprayed the clear with my tekna for the first time and it wrinkled due to it blasting the clear and me dribbling over some BS in the local booth. I can't sand the wrinkles out due to me spraying over the run. It has the Greyson tint in that area. Can I scuff the roof down and back mask down by the quarters and then blend the area with some more color.

@TheGunmanChannel 7 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, maybe just see if you can find a place that has good reviews and make it clear that the colour match is important and if it isn't right you will want it done again but keep in mind that bumpers are 5-10% out even from factory as DJ mentioned, a few reasons why, for one plastics can hold the metallic paint different to the metal adjacent panel and also they are commonly done in a different factory and with different paint batches than the body.

On those burn ins, do you ever mix the clear 50/50 with some base reducer and burn those edges in after you peel the false edge tape? Then sand/polish it back out? Ive tried it the way you showed, but still get too much of an edge that way. And after cut/polish I can still see a bit of an line
@TheGunmanChannel
@TheGunmanChannel 7 жыл бұрын
I try to take it easy on the edge and not overload the edge and also peel the tape off before a bake and that usually allows it to melt in.

Nice common sense repair mate. If 'ya don't tell the DIY'ers how it really is then they just end up trying for perfection and ending up disappointed. I get loads of hate for using filler in my old 1967 Mk2 Jag but sod 'em. At least I'm not scared to drive it and I've seen the repairs they they've paid someone a lot of money to do to their cars. 🤣 No filler...really? Anyway, good pair of vids, cheers man.......

@Gazhac111
@Gazhac111 7 жыл бұрын
Miles11we the first product you need to put on bare plastic is plastic adhesion promoter. Then prime and paint. If the plastic is very flexible, you will need to add elastic additive to the primer and the clear coat to stop it cracking.

Don’t listen to any tosspot. Just carry on doing your job well and grab some swag and that what counts. Pride in your work comes a close second these days, it’s the way the world works now. Peeps want everything for nothing and more. Just like me. 😂 I’m no expert but my downfall is filling and levelling and getting those spot repairs etc not to be visible after. That’s the prob. Bits.
