The Gunman

The Gunman

Күн бұрын

To get the best possible finish using a spray gun there are many factors that will come in to it, the main areas you need to focus on are air pressures, paint viscosity (thickness), distance of the gun from the panel and gun settings. So in this video I have taken a lot of time doing experiments to show you the difference it makes using the wrong settings compared having it setup properly. I will be demonstrating with the DeVilbiss Gti Pro Lite using both Conventional TE20 & HVLP H1 air caps. I hope you enjoy and can follow without being too confused, I will do my best to answer any questions to help out.

Awesome video Gunman. I've watched it many times, and I always to return to it for reference. I'm the in-house detailer for a luxury car showroom located on the Costa-del-Sol in Spain and over the years I've corrected hundreds of paint jobs, both factory and refinished paint, on some of the worlds finest cars. But I always felt that I needed to learn how to paint and extend my professional capabilities. Well thanks to you I've just recently taken my detailing services to the next level and started spraying paint. Thanks a million for your awesome instructional videos Gunman. You're the best on KZbin!

Great vids. One can always learn something by watching and listening. One thing I do find is that a second coat of clear flows out better than the first and a third coat even better again. So while a perfectly flat coat is not possible it is possible to get pretty damn close.Keep up the vids. You obviously know your stuff.

I just painted my 1969 Chevy C10 and it came out nearly perfect thanks to the sharing of your exceptional insight and skills. Reduced the clear. Set the gun up full spray. Turned out the fluid 4 turns and kept the gun 5cm from my work. Hardly even a hint of orange peel. I have 3 small sags/runs on the entire truck. Have to look hard to see them. Thank you very much! Your video's are totally awesome! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your channel. I recently discovered your channel and subscribed after watching a few...and it just keeps on getting better for me as I delve into the watching the plethora of videos you have uploaded. As many others have said, it is really appreciated the time and effort that you put into your posts. Of course, all the time and the effort means nothing if the quality of the content is not worthy of the time and effort. Your content is very high quality and very worthwhile. Real world applications, problems and solutions. Kudos to you. This topic reminds me of an incident quite a few years ago when my daughter backed into a car., owned by a young man visiting a neighbour. A very good friend, who is a spray painter, offered to fix the other vehicle, only asking my daughter just for the cost of the materials (at my insistence. He would have done it for free, but I insisted she needed to learn from her mistake. A real world lesson as she was only 18). As a non-spray tech, I thought the young man's car looked nice. The young male owner who was fresh out of high school and thought he knew everything about the world, including how to spray paint a car.... because his car had recently been resprayed. He proceeded to criticise the quality of the repair work. Now my friend is an automotive paint rep for a paint distributor and his job was showing paint shops how to paint his company's paint products. He has been in the game since he was 18 (and was mid 50's at that time). It is safe to say he knew his stuff. What followed was a critique of this young man's criticism of the repair. This dissection included such details as you are demonstrating in this video about the quality of the resultant clearcoat matching the existing clearcoat on the vehicle. As my friend said "I can easily adjust my repair work to get the finish/quality of the clearcoat, to have less orange peel, but then it will look better than the rest of your (shitty) paint job. By the time my friend was finished the young man realised that the quality of his new full respray was not as good as he first thought it was after all. Gulp. That was real world schooling for the young man who thought he knew everything. LOL Anyway, thanks again from a new subscriber located in Brisbane, Australia.

I've been looking for avoiding the "OEM Finish" orange peels but to spray the clear as flat as possible so that I can delivery custom motorcycle paints (especially the dark windshield) with minimal sanding and buffing. Found nothing until I saw your "double it" approach in another candy paint video and the using of slow reducer and info in this video. Really saved my day, great thanks.

YES, VIVE LA SCIENCE. Mate that is a great and very clear fix. THANK YOU so lets see if I have distilled this right...If its peely then you can. * Up the pressure, (but not too much or it will go dry yes?) * Get closer (but dont go too slow or it will run) * Thin the material ( but not too much or you'll get runs, reduce the gloss, get solvent pop) Have I got that right? Mate the TAFE should be sending their teachers to YOU for "proper" training. Keep up the great work and dont think for a minute that we dont all appreciate it. Cheers
