Even tho I basically cant afford much of your art supplies you review I'm still learning so much about art supplies and how you would use them it's really making me feel more knowledgeable about art techniques and verbiage as when I started my art journey two years ago I'd always get median an palette mixed up...lol.. I've come so far in this art journey thank you so much for teaching me, I'm still interested in finding a container to take in my backpack to sketch in I will look to see your reviews of any such.and see their prices and where there made I did find a store called st louis art store in america that has a japan pencil carrying bag for pencils..thank you again for your postive motivated thoughts and reviews.....🎨✍

Great video Harry..please do a kids art supply video. I started teaching my granddaughter acrylic at age 2 then advanced to watercolor. When she turned 4 I let her use all my prof. art supplies as she is very OCD with her art. She turned 5 this week so I put together a travel bag of prof. art supplies...She will love it. I even made her a WC palette of her favorite colors. Would love to see what you suggest. I have another granddaughter turning 2 next month so I'll start her in art too. I just started colored pencils this month.

I found that I had to use clear nail polish so the name sand numbers don’t rub off. For the price of luminance, this should not happen.
@58Kym5 жыл бұрын
I think I will be painting the ends of my luminance pencils with a transparent medium in light of comments on here about the foiling rubbing off.

oh, it's such a pity I couldn't be there during this livestream! If you could compare neocolor to the museum aquarelle in regards to softness and bloom, how much are they different?

Will odorless mineral spirits effect the light fast in colored pencils?
@TheArtGearGuide2 жыл бұрын
Hi don, that is an excellent question and one that a lot of reviewers and artists have been debating for a while. It is the same as watercolor pencils, artists have wanted to know definitively if once the water is added to the pencil does it effect the lightfastness, does adding the water not dilute any lightfastness. I will actually try to find out the answer for you because anything I write here is purely speculation on my part and that is not what you want. If you give me a week or so I will do my best to get an answer for you. It will take that long because I will need to talk to the Chemists at one of the major pencil companies and they are not easy to get hold of. Asking any of the agents from the pencil companies to answer a question as complex as this one is not a good idea, so I will go straight to the scientific source, or there is one other contact I have that will know, someone involved in the manufacturing process of pencil making. Sorry I couldn't have been of any help to you on this question. but I will do my best.

@@TheArtGearGuide Thank you for your response, I was amazed and pleased that you replied because generally, I'm not used to anyone replying. Caran Dache seems to be a strong and reliable medium... that's why I exclusively use their products. Them, Sennelier, and Copic are the go-to products I enjoy. I know Caran Dache guache is not lightfast but still is a beautiful medium to have fun with. Thank you for getting back to me

Liked the live stream Harry be nice to have a live stream of your favourite goto pencils and why, or do you only ever use one set of pencils per drawing, if your doing a commissioned peace would you only use one set or If your anything like me you ever a mixture of pencils you like to use for different parts of the picture.

Great live stream, I really enjoyed it 🙂 Could you please share where you purchased the Prismalo 80 Set from? 🤔 I’m in the US and both Jerry’s & Blick’s don’t carry them 😕 Could you please tell me the differences between the Prismalo’s and the Museum Aquarelle’s? Trying to decide which size I should get...thank you 🙂
@TheArtGearGuide5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have had a look about for you and I found a few links on Ebay in the US, it was tricky because they were not listed as Caran Dache Prismola but rather Caran Dache Aquarelle. Any way I have added the links for you and prices. Caran d'Ache Prismola 18 Set - $32 - ebay.to/2JZtDQA Caran d'Ache Prismola 30 Set - $56 - ebay.to/2JxwzVr Caran d'Ache Prismola 40 Set - $75 - ebay.to/2VVmeZT Caran d'Ache Prismola 80 Set - $149 - ebay.to/2Wtowz3 The Prismolas are not the same as the Museum Aquarelle, they are just not as pigmented, but we are talking about Caran d'Ache products non the less so just because they are not as highly pigmented as the Museum, doesn't mean the Prismolas lack pigment as that is not true If you are looking for something closer to the Caran d'Ache Museum Aquarelle, the Caran d'Ache Supracolor Soft are very close to the Museum and the largest set in the Supracolor Soft is 120. So the selection of color is far superior. Regarding the size of the set, you can afford to go a little bit smaller with watercolor pencils because mixing new colors is much easier that with colored pencils. So with the Prismolas i would say at the very least the 30 set possibly 40 but no lower. the 80 set for the Prismola is reasonably priced given the quality of the pencils and the fact that once you get the full set, it is yours for life because you just replace individual pencils as and when needed. I hope this has helped you out a little bit

CD Pastel pencils are of concern to me. Some of the colors, blue in particular, have a very scratchy tip and tear at my paper or scratch my Pastelmat. Sharpening does not help. I paid a lot of money for this large set. Because I purchased my set from Amazon, CD will not provide any customer service as they stated they cannot guarantee the validity of the pencils!
@TheArtGearGuide5 жыл бұрын
Wow KristiLee I am so sorry and concerned to hear that, not so much about the actual issue you are having with the pencils, but the reply you received from Caran D’Ache. Do you know the name of the person who told you this? Because here is the thing, if Caran d,Ache or any other company for that matter advertised that “They cannot guarantee the validity of the pencils.” On their website or box, I can guarantee you not many people would spend that type of money on a product that was not being validated by the actual company. Thank you for sharing this information and I will do my best to find out if this is in fact the companies policy. It doesn’t sound right to me and if it is, I think a lot of people would be quite surprised to learn about it.
