Sands starts by searching for a groove. Once found, he develops it and rides it past the usual conventions into exciting new territory - rarefied territory, but never loses connection with the original song. A bright, new talent.

Awesome. The word Awesome is vastly overused today. But not in this case. I particularly loved the not-quite dissonant opposing runs. OMG. And Kenny Phelps was magnificent too.

Yep Cory H. has another on par peer in the Jazz arena! I found Cory 6 years ago. Now to think today is the first I heard of Christian! A search from Tatum's Yesterdays showed a Billy Taylor link on the side bar discussing Tatum which took me to Billy Taylor meet the young musicians Part 2 (2009) with Christian. Glad I found him!

Just really hearing Christian play for the first time on a standard. First impression is he very percussive,clear, quick. Not hearing beautiful. The kind beauty that Herbie. Chick, Keith can give. But he's quite good looking forward to hearing more of his stuff. Good to young guys coming into the music. Encouraging.
