Interesting to see you try this. I thought on caravans this wasn't great as it can deliminate the van as the two layers can get pulled apart, now it's only a small dent so maybe not as much as an issue.

I've used these kits the glue sticks have different strengths. But the issue is the metal stretches and its understanding how the dent was made.

With the greatest respect.....having trained for months to do Proper PDR and everyday still learning at no point anything you tried will work properly. It's a mega skilled long term skill. Get a professional PDR tech in to do it and it does work. By the way, the glue pulling is a skill but its the knocking it back down once lifted up that's the real skill.

Would be interested to see if a professional can get it to work on the bonded aluminum panel? The car panel works a treat but just couldn't get the pulling strength on the caravan panel.

Thanks again for informative video, Been toying with this as have a small bent on my swift 580. Wondering as a alternative if a metal block (ciggy packet size) thin rubber coated, (to create seal) with small hole centrally connected to vacuum pump might do the trick. 🤔

I think the pressure needed is just too much, If its a small dent I don't think I would worry too much and maybe look for something that would cover it?

I have a 22 Yr old Swift and immaculate and perfect as it is the outside dents let it down a little. I'm definitely going to give this a go now but will use a heat gun on the metal 1st I think. Any thoughts people?

you may find if you warm the area with a hairdryer first just to make the aluminium be a little more flexible

I had no luck with my kit ! the metal stretches & its not possible to heat it up because of the insulation behind the alloy panel--- spent hours trying but........

Having worked on Roll Royce bodywork albeit many years ago the problem you don’t see even with small dents like the ones you’ve tried is that the metal stretches, what people don’t see on bodywork is that to shrink it again you need to apply heat but on a caravan with the bonded aluminium it’s just too much as you’ve already found and it definitely wouldn’t work on modern grp caravan bodywork.

Hi mark I’ve just watched you cleaning the fly screen with bleach my question is how can I clean the blinds in a swift challenge 580 as they are paper and they have black mould on them

Unfortunately with the paper ones its better to leave them as they will most likely get damaged if you try to clean them. I will see if we can come up with a solution for these. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

With PDR the aim isn't to get the dent out in one go, use panel wipe and not thinner as it is dissolving the adhesive. Once you get the glue on, with best profile tip, let it set, then use slide hammer, it will come off but that's the point to allow for gradual release of dent pressure on the panel, then tap down the high spots to the outside of the dent and repeat the process until your happy with it. Practice makes perfect.

Depends on the scratch, but if not too deep, just use t cut and then polish, this will work on body and windows. 👍

Caravans simply aren't build the same as cars Mark. Panels are different material and steel has a memory. I'm no expert though, but I've used same type of product on car doors and it works perfectly.

It’s probably due to the fact that the caravan wall is a solid construction with multi layers glued together and a car is one sheet of metal.

The kit is limited by the cleaning of the surface. Don’t unduly knock it. Professional dent repairers use alcohol with a clean cloth to clean the surface each time. Not the dirty yellow rag seen used here. Any grease, wax or oil on the surface will render the glue useless. If possible they carry out this process indoors and use really hot glue. The glue looks rubbery and possibly to cold on the van surface. Warming the panel will also help.

We did use alcohol also with a clean cloth, but due to the construction it just needed far more force to pull the dent out, with better glue sticks and heat we may have got it to stick a bit better, but I don't think it would have pulled the dent out fully. We may revisit this and go perfect conditions just to double check 🙈
