Thanks. I was hoping it was too long. I had even more things to cover. Maybe another time. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Great tips Phil if we can stop people from learning the “hard way” so much the better. 🥂 here’s to a great new season.

Hi Colin. Yes looking forward to this season, so much to see and do. Whilst making this video I noticed an issue with the brake push rod😳 So there will be a video about this soon. When does it end (never😂) Thanks Phil👍🙂

Hi Phil, great advice again. We had our cooker hob lid fall off during transit. Damaged the wardrobe. So I also check the screws regularly. What I also do first is give the glass a push, to make sure it’s fully in the clamp. It hasn’t been on a few occasions. We also place a dish drying mat under the glass to help dampen any vibrations. This was a tip from Bob Ernshaw. Bought it from Lakeland. Many Thanks from John & Al.

Hi John & Al. Yes other folk have said the same as you. Juliet made a pad for the same microwave bag material for our cooker to prevent rattling etc. Thanks for watching. Phil👍🙂

Oddly enough last week I took the c'van to the workshop to get an extra socket: USB fitted and the sink glass lid was on the floor too. Thankfully it hadn't caused any damage or been broken ! 🙂

Hi Phil, Some great tips and really relevant as the season now beckons 👍. And with most caravan engineers already very busy, the more you can safely do yourself, the better so thanks !

Hi Martin. Thanks for watching. Yes everyone in the Industry will be getting very busy. If you can do it yourself and save a few bob, I'm all for it. Thanks again Phil 👍🙂

Another fantastic video Phil. You are a man after my own heart. Finding things to do and maintaining your caravan is a huge part of caravan ownership in my opinion. As the saying goes, "A stitch in time saves nine". I'm now considering getting a cordless compressor, so much more convenient. I have swapped my 10kg SafeFill bottle for the 7.5kg version for exactly the same reason. The 10kg now powers my various garden gas appliances at home so, it's not redundant. Both bottles have more than recouped their initial purchase price when compared to the cost of exchanging a bottle from one of the main LPG suppliers. I also noticed a squeak on my door and when silicone spray didn't cure it I found, on closer inspection that all of the hinge screws had worked loose and the door was actually loose in its frame. It might be worth a check. I use a product called Liqui Moly rubber treatment and care or Gummi Pflege which is made specifically for treating car door and boot seals and prevents freezing during Winter. It isn't as sticky as silicone grease so, less chance of gritty debris sticking to it and scratching the windows. Keep them coming. Thank you.

Hi Steve. Thanks for watching. Yes looking after the van does look after you in terms of time etc. Our 10kg now powers the BBQ. I will check the screws on the door (good point). I will look out for the Liqui Moly. I have been under the van today fixing something, bloody difficult to film as well. Thanks again. Phil👍🙂

After watching your top tips Phil 👍 I’m going to adjust the tension on one of our blinds. By the way I’m still using Calorlite 6kg whilst they are still available. Cheers for sharing, Rob & Gail

Good advice on loose screws there, on my previous Swift that vanity mirror fell off and smashed, it made a terrible mess, regarding cooker screws check the two bottom screws holding the oven in, again on my previous van they fell out and you could pull the bottom of the oven out, and on my present van (Swift) they were both loose

Hello Retro. Wow you had some bad luck with screws and hinges. I will check the hinge screws next time I am up at the van. I have to admit I am always checking the screws on our van its become a habit. Thanks for watching Phil🙂👍

Great video as usual. Just a couple of comment. There is a big difference between a Phillips screw/driver and a posidrive screw/driver. Also never loosen wheel nuts before retightening otherwise you would need to check the torque setting every 30 miles along your journey.
@lostweekendscaravan Жыл бұрын
Hello G42. Thanks for this they are just cross screws to me but now I know👍. I'll bare your tip re not slackening the nuts as well. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Hi Phil great video . Yes we had cooker top fall off . Damage loads of panels . The caravan was only two weeks old was repaired under guarantee. It’s a common problem. I also have safefill gas bottles . Had mine for nearly 10 years . I’ve been told you can’t get bottles, certificated ? It would cost more than buying new bottles. Thanks paul .
@lostweekendscaravan Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul Sorry to read this. It is not nice when you spend good money to have to go through stress and poor workmanship. I have to be honest once my bottle needs a certificate I'll change it I would have had my value for my money. Thanks for watching Phil. 👍🙂

Cheers Phil, some great tips to keep us busy, quick question, if I use Vaseline on the rubber seals will it keep leaving a mark on the windows, or will the Vaseline soak into the rubber, thanks again Phil,👍👍.

Great video again. One quick question. Do you cover your caravan in the summer when not in use.
@lostweekendscaravan Жыл бұрын
Hello & Morning. Thanks for watching. I don't cover it during summer as we are away quite a lot and it is a faff covering & uncovering it. Also the summer months allow the van to breath and remain aired for each trip. Hope this helps. Phil👍🙂

Be careful with your blue tyre valve cap. If it’s aluminium it can fuse to the tyre valve

@@lostweekendscaravan it’s because they are differing metals, they practically weld themselves together. Happened to my car, had to get all four tyre valves replaced.
